The let the memories begin sept 18-25 TR!

Trip Report Time! My boyfriend (marc) and myself (Laura) travelled from halifax, nova scotia to Disney from Osept18-25th, staying at POFQ! We had the best time and had something VERY exciting happen in the magic kingdom J you will have to read to find out!

Day 1- tuesday September 25, 2012

The day began at 3:00am, we woke up and prepared for the day! We were off to the airport by 3:30am, for our 6:13am flight to LGA. I love the fact that we can clear customs in halifax! The agent I got was awesome and from Orlando! He chatted all about Disney and pofq, never asking me a single customs related question lol. Now ive never flew thru LGA before, and i must say the concept of having 100's of ipads set up for travelers to pay to use is very cool! We sat and waited for 2 hours and then we finally boarded, my only gripe is it is a very long trip with no sort of entertainment on either flights! Now delta does offer wifi, but i couldn’t justify $15 for 2 hours.. It was a pretty bumpy ride down, but I expected that since CNN was reporting it was going to be a “rough travel day”
and lots of storms on the east coast..

We arrived on time at 12:09pm, and we're on our way to DME! We checked in and there was no line at POFQ. When we boarded the bus it was HOT and SUNNY!

As we began to drive the sky became very dark and then opened up, it poured rain, along with thunder and lightening. I began to panic thinking it would be this way everyday. Marc comforted me and reminded me we would have a good time rain or shine! We made a stop at Saratoga Springs and then Old Key West before arriving at French Quarter. We checked in quickly (no line and we had done online check in), we received buttons(one for celebrating our second anniversary together and another for marc’s first visit). We were given room 5109, which was exactially what I requested (a corner room in building 5). This was the best location, we were right across from the pool, and only a minutes walk to the main building/gift shop/ food court.

After dinner we headed towards world showcase, turning right towards Canada. We stopped to use the bathroom at the first of world showcase, bad idea. This was the only time I was very disappointed with the cleanliness of something at Disney. The washroom was very small (2 stall), with a line out the door and filthy! Needles to say I waited until further in to go! The crowd was getting heavy for illuminations at this point, we walked all the way to Italy to get a grand mariner slush and grey goose slush. Still very full from dinner, but I needed to try them! And wow, they were extra strong! It was $20 for both . We took our drinks and staked out a spot on the bridge by Italy and waited for illuminations. We were so tired and full, but wanted to catch the show so we stuck it out and glad we did! Then back to the bus stop and we made it on the first. Us that showed up! Score!

So we walk on up. The crowd was clearing out so we pass the photographer our photo pass card and go on up, as we approach Marc says he wants to put his sunglasses away for the picture..: now there's lots of people around and I didn't want to hold others up and I didn't understand why he would put his sunglasses away when it is sunny out. So as I'm mumbling ,"Marc get up!" and "hurry up". Then as he turns around I hear a lady in the back ground say ,"he's proposing". Me still clueless until I look down and see Marc on one knee with the ring box open! I immediately began to cry, and said YES! As he stood up to hug me i could hear people around us claping and cheering. All the while we caught the photographer off guard, but she got shots from beginning to end! We then got some after shots. I was beyond happy! The photographer was very friendly (wish I had gotten her name), she said it was her first proposal.

How exciting! Congratulations!!!

First, you are ridiculously adorable, I love your smile and what a cute couple you make!!!

And it's totally irrational, I know, but Im annoyed that lady is like "HE'S PROPOSING". Girl, shush your mouth and let him surprise her. LMAO.

So we walk on up. . It was then time for our fastpass+ for the haunted mansion. We walked right on, but honestly I was so excited I barley remember the ride (glad we rode it again later in the trip!). It was beyond hot out now, so we decided to head back to to hotel for a swim, of course stopping by city hall to get out "just engaged", buttons. We decided to take the monerail to Epcot, then bus to pofq. Just as we arrived to the mk monerail station the sky's opened up and it began to storm! We were very wet by the time we ended up on the bus at Epcot, so by this time a swim was out of the question. So we refilled our mugs and hung out in the room until dinner.

Just as we were leaving the room there was a knock and there was a cast member with a congratulations card, inside was a signed card from Micky and Minnie, along with a photo pass card and 20% off your order! We used that and ordered several prints of our engagement! And we are now off to Epcot! First we stoppedmat club cool (haha never warned marc about "beverly"! Thn off to coral reef We had 6:15 reservations at the Coral Reef.. Now I had read ALOT of negative reviews online, but Marc really wanted to dine here because he has always wanted to dine in a resturant with giant fishtanks. We ordered berry lemonade( it had some sort of foam on top, neither of us liked it), then there was the bread course. Th chef came out to talk to me about my coconut allergy, there was one entree i couldnt have as it clearly indicated it had a coconut sauce...Marc ordered the lobster ravioli and I ordered the steak. My steak was cooked perfectly, with lots of flavor. It came with roasted potatoes, spinach and mushrooms. I really enjoyed it. Marc also loved his ravioli. I had the chocolate wave and Marc had the crem brulee( no pictures), but Marc said it was not a good tasting crem brûlée and my chocolate wave was over cooked, the couple next to us also made comments about their waves being over cooked. Our waiter also lacked in customer service, he just wasn't attentive and it took a while for our food to come out, then for desserts and the bill. Overall great food, but it was a very loud resturant and with negative service I don't think it would be on our list for next time

Oh I would LOVE a Disney destination wedding, but I just don't think all the people I love and care about would be able to make it and that's really important to me. So we are thinking Disneymoon, 4 night cruise and 6 days in parks maybe. Still planning! But I want to tie in Disney somehow, and it's a great excuse for a Disney vacation we looked at disneys aluni resort to, but I think it might be out of our price range! We already agreed on a Mickey and Minnie cake topper tho!

Day2: September 20


Up bright and early again! This morning we had breakfast reservations at tusker house for 8:05am. Now we were at the bus stop for 6:45 as we had asked the castmembers the night before what time the bus started running and was told 7. The bus didnt come until 7:25am, i was in a panic that we would be late.. Arrived at 7:55am we checked in at the main gate then headed back to the resturant where we waited in a pretty long line to check in at the actual resturant. Out came mr.donald duck! We decided we were starving and would skip the photo op with him. At tusker house Donald does not do the rounds with the rest of the gang, instead you only get to meet him outside. We were seated at a table for two, our sever Neil brought us some "jungle juice", that stuff was very good! Marc made a joke that he should just bring the whole pitcher to us lol. Neil was great, he made sure our glasses were full at all times. He then made sure the chef came out and spoke to me about my coconut allergy. There was one item on the whole buffet I couldn't have, and it was labeled. We tried a bit of everything, I really enjoyed the glazed/chocolate donut and the quiche. Neil talked a lot to us, asking lots of questions about our engagement and where we were from. He then mad ensure to keep us up to date on when the characters were coming. They didn't come until we were finished eating, but I was okay with that. Neil was right there to make sure we could get photos of both Marc and I together! Goofy, daisy and mickey all came around. I will however say they were very dull.. Not just with us as two adults but even with the kids. Just photos and moved on.. I know they don't have a lot of time at each table but I guessing expected more as this was my first character breakfast..

.. We were out by 9:05 and the park opened at 9! We went straight back to Kilimanjaro Safari, we walked right up but it took about 5 minutes for our truck to come. We had a young lady as a guide and she was very energetic, we seen lots of animals out this morning! Once we got off we got an excellent view of a large gorilla. We then went over to dinosaur, stopping at its tought to be a bug! Marc got a good laugh out of that! When we got to dinosaur we were told it would be at least a 20 minute wait due to a "dinosaurs on the loose". We grabbed fast passes and went over to kilo river rapids. And yup we got very wet! Then walked onto expedition everest! That is just a great roller coaster, Marc loves his thrills and really enjoyed it! By this time it was close to noon and getting very hot! I really needed a Mickey ice cream! We used 2 snack credits and each got one, yum! The on to dinosaur. Walked fit on wi our fast passes, I really like this ride. Not to fast and I didn't warn Marc about the dinosaur that rawrs at you hehe! When we got off we decided we were hot and wanted to relax! So we walked back around, stopping to have some eat shots done on the back side of the tree of life. Th photographer was great and did some magical shots with us holding a baby simba. We stopped and watched the monkeys for at least 15 minutes and looked in the gift shops before heading on the bus back to pofq! When we got back to the hotel we enjoyed a dip in the pool! the pool was pretty big, and never seemed to be crowded in the water..but we struggled to find two chairs together many days! seems alot of people save their chairs and go elsewhere..

A few notes:
-Just noticed i really didnt take that many pictures at animal kingdom!
-We ordered the photos of marc proposing, hopefully they will be here soon!
-We also just got an email from Disney Events Photography that our engagent pictures are ready for viewing, i love them, but i will have an overall review of them when i get to that day!
-I also bought a scrap booking kit at the resort, and just picked up a few things at wal-mart and michaels tonight, cant wait to start!

I knew it I knew it! The second you said something awesome happened at the MK I knew what was coming. HUGE congratulations girl! The ring is just beautiful but more importantly, you are officially engaged and... it happened at the Magic Kingdom. How freakin cool is that? I can't wait to read your Disney Wedding report. LOL!!!
