The Land Escalator Replacement?

Except for the Restaurant and the movie, everything that people want to do or see is on the ground floor. The Food Court, Living with the land and Soarin.

Well my thought process was Soarin' makes up most of the traffic in and out of that pavilion, so separate the people trying to get into Soarin’ without alienating it from The Land. If there were a new entrance directly to the ground level, I don’t think anyone would ever go upstairs. Either way something should be done to correct that second floor, escalator mess.

Not much chance of a level 1 entrance due to Sunshine Seasons. And looks like there is a loading dock on the other side. Anyone got a floor plan?

I don't think it would have any effect on the Second floor other than make it less crowded. Those that would go to the restaurant or the movie will still go.

They do seem to be broken a lot. It will be nice if Disney fixes them and they work all the time!! :)

will they label it as a new attraction? or will it be classified as entertainment.

Probably an attraction, based on this t-shirt image that was recently leaked by hackers who were able to access the merchandise image directory in the Disney online store catalog -

So they are replacing them with stairs? I can hear the winded people already.
I hate to ruin your recreation but, no, they are replacing the escalators with other escalators.:p Perhaps ones that work consistently. You know, we all get all in a knot over the breakdowns, but, they were installed in and around 1983 or 4. That's 30 years of service...not bad really.

Do you think it will be the those stairless escalators like on the People Mover?

Damn, I hope not. I can just barely stand on those things. What that is on PM is a conveyer belt to haul hay into the loft or luggage up into an airplane. I guess it's worked all these years and it is novel but, not the most comfortable thing to use unless you're in a box. That also isn't going to be one of your better days.

With the size of the interior there and the theme, I'm surprised this pavilion wasn't built with a spiral walkway (not stairs) that descended from the entrance. Of course, doing so would mean a lot more steps would be involved, but it would sure be neat if this concept had been used. The downfall would be that it would most likely take away some of the floor space used by Sunshine Seasons.
It would have been really neat if there was a walkway like this, maybe walled in and as you went down, you passed thru a representation of the the earth's layers.
This wouldn't really work now that Soarin' is there, unless the entrance for Soarin' was up top, but still it would be pretty cool!

To make things easier for guests, they could have built escalators to take people back up when they were ready to leave.

Honestly, I think that whole building needs a refurb. I was there this weekend on a surprisingly light crowd Sunday and especially the areas toward the back and left of Sunshine Seasons aren't looking good at all. I do think Sunshine Seasons is the only good place to eat in Future World though.

To relieve the congestion, there's an emergency exit route by the bathrooms next to soarin. Those doors will be opened, and staffed by cast, which will direct guests out backstage and through the backstage gate by imagination, which will send them back into the park.

Are these the doors you use to go on the Behind the Seeds tour?
