WORLD SHOWCASE-GREECE
The story of our pavillion is that it is a Greek village with ruins, and buildings that have stood the test of time. The buildings would have modernized by villagers to attract more tourists and for more facilities.

CENTERPIECE- The centerpiece would be a fountain in the courtyard we have created. The fountain would have a tall pedastal with a statue of Zeus on top. Smaller pedastals with statues of other Gods would surround it. The pedastal Zeus is on would shoot water out from under his feet. It would be like a water bubble as it came down. The smaller pedastalws would also do this, but with less water.

ATTRACTION-The Oddesey

The Odyssey Ride:
Story:
The ride will follow the story of Homer’s epic the Odyssey.

Exterior:
The exterior of the building matches with all of its surroundings. The entrance is surrounded by massive crumbling stone pillars. Greek symbols and letters are engraved into the entrance walls (some provide inside jokes in Greek while one is a hidden Mickey) The fastpass area is located next to a massive stone tablet portraying all of the mythical gods.

Pre-show:
You enter the pre-show in a large airy room. Surrounding the rope switchbacks are a group of sculptures representing Odysseus, Athena, Zeus, Poseidon, Calypso, and the writer Homer. After passing through the room you enter a series of hallways leading to the loading docks. Projected on the walls is the story of Odysseus’s origin, going from his birth to his own son’s birth. The images are projected in the form of shadows that move and change form while a narrator talks about the legend of Odysseus. Finally, you enter the loading dock and board your vehicles (a ship suspended from the ceiling, similar to Peter Pan’s Vehicles).

Ride:
Scene 1 (Odysseus Leaves):
As the boats slowly ascend you here the narrator describe Odysseus’s tale and how he is called to war, leaving his wife Penelope and son Telemachus behind. You finally see a large ship slowly traveling next to your ride vehicle (think the Flight To The Imagination scene from JII) with Odysseus and all of his men riding aboard. Suddenly (with the use of a Pepper’s ghost effect) the goddess Athena appears and warns Odysseus of dangers ahead and how she will provide as much help as she can.

Scene 2 (The Trojan War):
You enter the next scene where the Trojan horse is being presented to the Trojans. Suddenly, several AA’s appear and begin to battle with the enemies. As you pass by, large painting on the wall come to life and illustrate the entire Trojan battle, from beginning to end. The end has a model of the ship sailing away.

Scene 3 (Cyclops):
Odysseus and his crew land on an island and explore (as the narrator suggests). Soon they encounter Cyclops, a massive 20 ft. tall AA who lunges at the ride while shouting “Who has blinded the great Cyclops.” The narrator then says that Odysseus outsmarted the beast and killed him. As you pass through the scene, you enter a spherical room with water and fish projected on the walls around your vehicle. In a pillar of smoke, the god Poseidon appears and exclaims his fury at Odysseus killing his son. The projections on the walls shift to show Odysseus and his men getting knocked about in a large tidal wave.

Scene 4 (Safety/Sirens/Scylla/Calypso):
The narrator tells us the story of Odysseus reaching shore of a kingdom, getting more men, and sailing away. They end up getting entranced along the way by a group of beautiful sirens, dragging the ride vehicles closer to them. Fortunately Odysseus breaks free of the spell and steers the ships away. Suddenly, the scene shifts to a dark cave where Odysseus and his new crew are attacked by a Hydra like monster, which is a massive AA. Soon, the ride vehicles are sucked into a whirlpool and blasted out with a burst of water. The narrator tells of how Odysseus meets Calypso and stays on her Island for 7 years. We travel through her beautiful palace and see as Odysseus lives life. Soon he decides to return home to his wife and child. The last scene is of them standing on a shore staring to the sunset.

Greek Myths and Legends; A Gallery:
In this large gallery, you can explore statues and paintings of various greek myths. There is also a small film exhibit showing various stories throughout the day.

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Both of the restaurants and the shop, and other food/gift stands would be housed in a Greek Stoa called Chorio Meros-which translates to Village Place. This building would not be in ruins, but instead have clean arcitecture.

The tables would be wooden with glass tops. All chairs would be wooden. This is to create a mix between rustic and modern as mentioned in the background story. There would be large windows looking out into the lively courtyard. These windows could swing open and become open-air,further connecting the restaurant to its surroundings, including the outside courtyard. CM costumes would be quite simple and use colors from the Greek Flag. They woul;d wear white pants, with a white button-down shirt. The shirt would have blue vertical stripes, and the name of the restaurant would be printed in an arch in blue Greek lettering on the pocket, above the nametag.

The outside would feature classic Greek architecture, with gardens running along the side of ther building. Also, the side facing the Promenade around the lagoon would be the same as the courtyard side, including open-air windows to bring the dining experience out onto the promenade.

SHOP-Meros Apo Synathroisi-Translates to Place of Gathering

THEMEING/ATMOSPHERE- This shop used to be an abandoned building, but a few years after the residents moved out, people in the village decided to make it into a shop. It would not be owned/run by one person, rather different people would bring different goods and run the shop themselves. This shop is very thrown together and not as much money was put into it as the dining areas in the village, because those were built by wealthy people. This resulted in a more temporary look. The name comes from the fact that different people run the shop. The walls would be all stone. The lighting would be electric "candles". Throughout the store, posters and notices would be hung on the walls advertising local events. The shelves in the store would not generic, but very different because each person who sells something must bring their own shelves. Stone and wood slabe are mounted on the walls, wooden structured frames hold stone and wood shelves.

GOODS-Goods include masks, carvings, pottery, stories on scrolls, and some cooking ingredients. There would also be SOME modern things, magnets etc

Well done both teams good job... I understand Bamsk8er im just glad you posted something :) I like your guys ideas, too bad we really couldnt see them expanded...

Other team WOW! Great Great Great Job! I love all the details and such. The Odyssey attractions seems short... i like the epic poem (i read in 9th grade) and as i read it i thought GREAT ATTRACTION idea... And here it is. I like the layout of the country, it seems to have the same feeling as the others, especailly Germany and Italy. I can see that you both have taken our suggestions from previous challenges and put them into this project which is what we wanted you to do and the whole thing is about.

Those were my comments, kinda poor i know, but i feel i will be busy this weekend and i wanted to let you all start your Project 7... If you have any questionson P7 feel free to post on the thread or PM me :)

NOTE TO JUDGES: Feel free to post comments here... if you want, if not you dont have to.. :) Just besure to check out teh Project 7...

Alright... Greece's restaurant (menus, atmosphere), the centerpiece, the store, the STORY of everything... amazing, fantastic, just great. The piece reminds me somewhat of Sinbad in TDS, a good thing. The only thing is that you failed to mention the animal thing that Calypso has ; the finale was also a little lacking and anti-climactic.

Too bad about Australia's submission; I really liked what I saw. And that wasn't much.

Make sure you're ready next time... this isn't any new news, you should all know what's expected of you by now.
