I think what works really well for the deluxe hotels is to take a region or country and boil it down to a condensed version.

Wilderness Lodge- North American Parks- Western Lodges
Grand Floridian- Misner inspired early Florida tourist boom expansion towns
Saratoga Springs- Northern New York
Boardwalk- A New Jersey/New York era that never existed
Yacht/Beach- New England Coast Line
Polynesean- Need I say more?

Even the Contemporary is sort of a Futuristic place.
The Moderates also do this, it's really the Values that are more about iconic properties.

Some locales that have not been explored... France (Not just Paris), London, Japan, Australia, something like that...

Australia would be good.

I like the France idea quite a bit.

What kind of ideas do you guys have for Austraila?

I do have an image of the Sydney Opera house as some sort of restaurant...

I'm not sure that we should rule out the others yet, but maybe just throw out some ideas and see what we like.

OK here's my pitch:

Disney's Roman & Greek Resort

A deluxe hotel/DVC themed to Ancient Rome & Greece so that when guests enter it's like they've been transported back 2,000+ years to the ancient eras.

There is so much to work with here. Architecture could be really grand with marble floors and stone pillars. We could take inspiration from the Colosseum in Rome and the Parthenon in Athens. I can just picture a grand Roman lobby with a grand fountain in the center.

Restaurants:
Obviously we could have Italian restaurant in the Roman resort (pizza, pasta etc)
And Greek restaurants in the Greek resort (olives, cous cous is all I can think of at the moment)

And staff could even be dressed in togas

There is plenty to work with in the pools section. We could have hot steam baths in the Roman resort like the Ancient Roman baths.

Each floor of rooms in the hotel could be themed to honour different Greek/Roman gods.

For the Roman resort, pretty much all the major Gods share their names with planets so:
Mars Floor
Jupiter Floor
Saturn Floor
Neptune Floor
Pluto Floor
Venus Floor

For the Greek resort:
Zeus Floor
Poseidon Floor
Hermes Floor
Ares Floor
Athena Floor
Artemis Floor
And especially for couples- the Aphrodite Suite

Back in the lobby of the Greek, I just thought of one last thing especially for kids, something that can't be done anywhere else in the resort- meet and greets with Hercules.

For the Roman resort there could be a spectacular dinner show similar to the Hoop-Dee-Doo Revue, with chariot racing and gladiator fights. That could be the entertainment.

I think that the Greek resort should be the Deluxe Hotel and the Roman resort should be the DVC hotel so that everyone gets their own Roman villa.

@WDWVacationer... ITs due Sat 27th.

Thanks Tazer for the pick... You guys are going great brainstorming... Might i suggest a timeline so you dont spend the majority of your time with the theme, and not the RESORT parts.... Just a suggestion.

If we do Disney's Japanese Resort, we could do a character breakfast with Pokemon characters. I know you are thinking that Disney does not own Pokemon, but this could work. Why you ask? Some Pokemon movies have been released on VHS through Disney, like Pokemon 4Ever.

What do you think?
:D

I like your energy, but no. At least, I think no.

This could work, but we have to pick, Greek OR Roman, they are not the same, very different actually.

Wow! It's weird coming into this as a team leader again, and with a new team under my belt!
(*Waves howdy to my Chip N Dales!)

So as I understand it, the team leaders (that's me and WDWVacationer...correct?) will finalize the theme that we will go with, and our team creates the vactaion villas portion?

OK...this is gonna be fun!

My thought before I even rread through the brainstorming...was similar to CharlieD...in that it would be great to do a Greek or Roman themed.

I am not sure it would be able to sustain both places/cultures...I know they look similar, but are in fact different enough in style that it might make us crazy.

If we do one or the other, we can then go for an Ancient meets Modern spin...because then we have an easier time giving it the look we want, but with modern ammenities.

I keep seeing a Pegasus for the logo...or maybe even part of the name.

Antyway....I really think this can work...I am personaly edging towards Roman, because of the tile/collumn architecture...and how cool would it be to have a spa based on roman bath houses?

But if no one else is liking this idea...please feel free to offer suggestions to change my mind!

(I was kinda digging the Australia idea too!)

I tend to jump too quickly on ideas before we know for sure that they can be accomplished! :D

I am very torn, I like that Rome has much more to offer in terms of the whole modern/historic aspect and there are some really great architectural things about it. I just always preferred Greek mythology and stuff, the names and the fact that they were the originals. I could cool with either.

Ok, so I just had a thought about an Aqueduct that runs throughout the whole resort and empties into the main pool. It could have waterfalls here and there and perhaps run through the lobbies of the buildings, and maybe at the end it looks like it's falling apart and that causes the pool.

A dance club called Jumpin Jupiters, set inside an old temple that has been refurbished.

Of course, if we go Greek it could be the Olympus resort. Really play up the greek gods aspect of it, or make it the legendary retreat for gods and mortals lucky enough to be admitted. It could be awesome to make it like it's a resort that claims to be on the grounds of the fabled mount olympus. Lots of statues of the gods everywhere.

I don't know, I like both ideas.

I tell ya...I do like Greek mythology better (I mean it was theirs first) but I am a little torn myself...because I don't really want to see any movie tie-ins to the resort (for the most part ...the rest don't have them)

and I cringe to think of a Hercules themed anything in this resort. Not that I didn't like the movie...but it's almost inevitable....
