Pre-Trip The "I NEED HELP" Pre-Pre-Trip Report

Okay.
Deep breaths, Nicole.

Inhale, exhale.

Hello, friends. I am Nicole, and I need HELP. After my whining, and begging, and downright temper tantrum-ing, I have finally gotten my boyfriend to agree to a Disney trip! It has been FIVE years since we went to Disney together, and one whole whopping longgggggg 2015 of no Disney for me. But it's a new year... it's 2016, and this little princess is getting her behind to Disney. :)

So, I am thinking of booking Disney from Friday, November 4th to Sunday, November 13th. My birthday is the 5th, and I REALLY want to wake up in the world. I know it's a little bit more expensive to fly out Friday afternoon and pay for an extra night, but I don't think there is any monetary amount that can compare to waking up in Disney on your birthday.

Now here's where you guys come in.

Should I stay at a Value Resort (thinking Art of Animation) or should a spend about 600 bucks more and stay at Port Orleans Riverside?

I really want to go to Universal (don't throw things at me) because I have never been! Do you think 6 days Disney and 2-3 days Universal for a first timer would be appropriate?

Should I book now (please say yes) or should I wait until like 6 months prior which would bring me to the end of April...I know NOTHING about how airline flights work and I've been checking every day on the Disney website. It does seem like Tuesday is the cheapest day for flights for some reason, no clue why!

So my dear fellow Disney obsessed friends, please help me. I will be forever and ever grateful.

Guys, this might be a stupid question, but if I'm staying from Nov 4th to Nov 13th that's 9 nights.. that means I get 9 table service credits? I
Nine nights equals nine credits and yes you are special. I'm not sure that cam out right:confused:

Thank you so much!! Trying to see where I should eat and what signatures I could include!!! Thank you for telling me I am special haha :)

If you're getting the basic dining plan, yes. 9 TS, 9 QS, 9 Snacks :)

When we need to use two, we'll often do a breakfast and late dinner that day. Still a lot of food to eat in one day.

I guess I should do this?? I am alreaady dining at two signatures.. I feel like Disney gives you sooo much food LOL.. don't know what to do!!
Where do you usually eat breakfast??

I'd do a prepark open at CP an empty MSUSA is magical
Crystal Palace is really good. Especially if you like Winnie the Pooh. BOG does breakfast now, too. I've never had breakfast there, but lunch and dinner were great.
CP is yummy and the character interactions were really good when I went. We're doing CRT this time, also for breakfast, because yes.. an empty MSUSA is wonderful. :)

The thing is I'm not really that hungry in the mornings so I just don't know if a table service for breakfast is smart for me! Ahhh... gonna take a look at the signature restaurants again maybe I can switch something... An empty MS USA is very very tempting!! Planning just gets harder and harder, I swear! :)

I'm never hungry in the mornings either.. As in I literally never eat breakfast lol. However, I try to schedule one breakfast ADR each trip for the sake of meeting a large number of characters without waiting in line for all of them, as well as getting in prior to park opening. So if you're not big on meeting characters like I am, it probably isn't really worth it. But then the empty MSUSA argument comes back into play sooo...

This is too hard!

Right now thinking to do:

Cali Grill (2) MK day
Le Cellier (2) Epcot day
Ohana (1)
Be Our Guest (1) MK day

So that's 6 out of 9... two of the nights I figure I'll be in Universal, or we can just eat when we get back at the resort... Hollywood studios needs more TS, and AK... just don't know. Anyone ever have Yak and Yeti? Or what are your feelings on Brown Derby? The only thing on the menu that looks appealing to me is the Cobb salad and I'm not wasting 2 TS credits for a dang salad.. LOL

This is hard.

By the time you book ADRs Tiffins should be open (maybe 2 credits) You may want to think about a ROL package. I hope it's open by the time I go the menu looks interesting.

Hi! Yak and Yeti is my family and I's favorite restaurant in the World! The decor is incredible and if you sit at a window on the second floor, you have awesome views of AK. If you like Asian-inspired dishes, this place is great (best. egg rolls. ever.). I love reading your TRs and can't wait to read the next one. Good luck planning!

Here's my input... If staying at a Disney resort it doesn't really make sense to go to Universal. We typically stay at a WDW resort every other trip. The other trip we stay at my parents offsite timeshare, so it makes sense then to go to universal bc we already have a rental car and all. Also you can do all of universal in a day really, 2 if you go slow. As for your WDW resort choice. I'd spend the extra money on POR. It's worth the extra $100 a night. The value resorts are more for families with kids than adults. As for booking I'd do it. Bc you can start doing your dining and all in advance to really get the most out of your trip along with FP+. If money right now is an issue remember all you need to book the trip is give 1 nights stay I believe to your reservation. Good luck

I love breakfast food, but not at breakfast time. I'm also never hungry at breakfast time. So, we typically book a late breakfast at the last possible time slot. Then we'll eat dinner a bit late.

We like the buffets, but tend to avoid the character ones (just not into them at meals). The Wave at the Contemporary is our favorite. It has a fantastic breakfast buffet, is rarely crowded, and has no characters.

If characters are OK, Chef Mickey's serves up a decent buffet - pretty standard fare though. Whispering Canyon at Wilderness Lodge has a really good breakfast skillet (at least I think they still have it).
