Trip Report The "I Can't See!!" Trip Report

Welcome everyone!! I'm so excited to get started on this TR!! I wanted to start it a week or so ago but life gets in the way.... I finally have some time to devote to this so here we go!!!

WHO: "The same old, same old crew": myself, my nephew J & my sister E
351752

WHERE: The usual:) Port Orleans Riverside
351750

WHEN: Sunday, February 3rd-Thursday, February 7th

THE REASON FOR THE TITLE:
All this and I still couldn't see!!:arghh: My vision issues came into play many times during this trip.
351751

To explain this a bit.....
A few weeks before the trip I went for my yearly eye exam. My doctor said my eyes were extremely dry so she prescribed me steroid drops to take for a week. When I went back a week later she said I could order glasses but wanted me to try different contacts before I ordered them. She felt given my dry eyes my best bet was going to be contacts that are disposed of daily(they're awesome but not cheap in the least). She gave me a bunch of samples but unfortunately she didn't have any samples in the multifocals. She said that I would have to use readers with the contacts since the samples were only for distance. But her main concern at that point was figuring out which contacts would be most comfortable for me. My new glasses came in three days before we left so I was able to have them but to be totally honest--I ABSOLUTELY HATE WEARING GLASSES. Reasons: Can't wear sunglasses, get spotted in the rain, fog up when you go from the cold into the heat, & the biggest thing for me--my perception(esp. walking down steps) is totally different with glasses--you don't know how many times I trip when I have them on!! I've worn contacts since high school so I'm used to them & that's what I prefer. I will admit for years I would sleep with them in, wake up, squirt some saline in my eyes & I was good to go. If you're reading this & have that habit please stop it now. It's what caused my dry eyes & even though it's not the worst problem to have it's still not comfortable.

SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 2ND
I was double checking my suitcase & happened to jump on MDE. It was like deja vu(this happened when we were there in September also). E & J's reservation was showing but mine was nowhere to be found.
351743

I closed out, opened the app again then was able to breathe a sigh of relief.
351744

SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 3RD
I was awakened shortly after midnight by a text from E. Uh-oh, trouble already & we haven't left yet!!
351745

Keep in mind my last text to her--it will come into play later!!

When I got up that morning it hit me like a ton of bricks'"If she doesn't have luggage tags she's not set up for ME then either". I texted her to let her know that but she never responded. Our flight wasn't leaving until 1:45 that afternoon so she & I both went to work that morning. We ran into each other at Starbucks(what's the chances of that:hilarious:)on our way to our works. I asked her if she saw the text I sent her that morning & she said no. I told her she probably was going to have an issue with the ME. She said she would call them after she took care of a few things at work.

We left at 11:45 for the airport. We wanted to leave a little earlier but E's husband didn't think it was necessary since it was a Sunday & there wouldn't be too much traffic and b/c we had TSA Precheck.
J's excited to go!!
351746

J & I couldn't really talk on the way to the airport. E & her husband are both funeral directors and they were both on their phones making arrangements for two different families at the same time. Those conversations sounded pretty interesting let me tell you....
Side note:the best is when we're in line for something at Disney & she's on the phone with work & says something like "Did someone pick him up from the morgue yet?" You should see the looks she gets!!:hilarious::hilarious::hilarious:

E hard at work....
351747

I bet you can tell which suitcase is mine.
351748

We bid farewell to E's husband & headed to the non existent TSA Precheck line!!

MONDAY, FEBRUARY 4TH

I snapped a picture as we walked around WS.
View attachment 353698

E was looking forward to this dinner. This would be her first time eating here. It had been four years since I had been here & I was excited to go back. Let me tell you--the excitement was short lived.....
View attachment 353699

We got there about 10 minutes before our reservation time & just waited a few minutes.
View attachment 353700

By the time our waitress got to us I think I had the menu memorized. It took her that long. She did apologize for taking forever to get to us.
View attachment 353701

We figured it would be wise to order our food while we ordered our drinks. We could tell we were going to be in for a long night if not. E ordered eggplant, J got cheese ravioli and I got a margherita pizza. Our waitress asked if it was alright for J's food to come out before ours. E said yes.
E left something in the stroller that she needed so she went out to get it. I figured I would take a few pictures but as soon as I took the first one........
View attachment 353702

......this happened. J's food arrived!! I'm not kidding--it only took her 3 minutes to come back with it from the time she took the order. E came back a minute later & couldn't believe it was there already. I guessing there was an extra one sitting around in the kitchen.
View attachment 353703

J had just started playing with his cars & he said he didn't want to eat until his mom came back. The good thing was once he started eating he ate everything on his plate.
View attachment 353704

We finally got drinks & bread.
View attachment 353705
Notice E's shirt--it says "Mom's Favorite". The first time we saw her wear that we asked her where she got that from & she said that our mom bought it for her:rolleyes:

According to the time on my pictures my pizza came out 15 minutes after J's ravioli. When our waitress brought out my pizza she told E her eggplant would be another 10 minutes!! How ridiculous!! I know she's my sister but I felt so bad eating in front of her. I kept offering some of my pizza & she finally did have a slice. Her eggplant did come out exactly 10 minutes later. We all enjoyed our food but decided it would be quite some time before we go back there. J had been done eating for awhile so he was getting a bit anxious & kept telling E that he wanted a funnel cake(probably the reason he ate all his ravioli;)). I told her to take him to get the funnel cake & I would wait for the bill. Not surprisingly I waited, and waited, and waited.......
View attachment 353706

By the time I made it to E she was just getting waited on. I felt like everyone was in slow motion that evening.
View attachment 353707
That is crazy! Had slow service before but food should come together, or at least in minutes of each other.

Have to giggle at E’s shirt. When I call my mom, I say it is I, the Chosen One. She got me an Alien Toy Story Chosen One shirt around 10 years ago 😂 A big joke for us.

As the funnel cake was being consumed we headed towards FEA. J has become a Frozen fan recently but was nervous about the ride b/c he doesn't like "the hill".
353722

He also said he didn't want to get wet so he put his hood on while we were in line.:hilarious:
353723

As we approached the hill he asked me to hold him tight.
353731

He looks pretty nervous, huh? Afterwards, he told us it's his favorite ride.

J wanted to stop in to see Donald & the gang(so did I)but we were running short on time so we had to pass.
353724

353725

We took a spin on a time machine.
353726

And got stuck here for quite a bit.
353727

We were stuck for so long I was able to get these great shots...
353728

353729

It was kind of creepy--I felt like he was staring right at me.

We had one last thing we wanted to do before we left Epcot. J looked like he was getting a bit worn out. I took this picture b/c I couldn't understand why he would want to sit sideways in the stroller.
353735

353736

353737

Cleared for take-off!!
353738

J loves these lights!!
353739

We got on a bus just as Illuminations started. J wanted to take a selfie on the way back.
353740

Riverside looked so peaceful this evening.
353741

This notice was in the room when I got back.
353742

I was a bit hungry so I headed down to The Riverside Mill and got a yogurt parfait.
353743

I ate it while I watched the must-do's!!

Fun pictures of the safari, I especially liked the elephant one. :inlove:
Thanks!! I'll let J know you liked them!!
J actually took some great pictures on the safari! His serious selfie was so cute :)
Thanks!! I'll let him know!!
Fun day at Epcot! It's so hard to get a decent picture on the Finding Nemo ride!!!
It was fun--we didn't spend much time there but it was nice. I don't believe we made it around the whole WS.
Via Napoli has been off our list of restaurants to eat at in Epcot for about three years because the food is mediocre and the management is horrible! That was unbelievable how you all got your meals brought out at such different times!!!
It was crazy. I have never had that happen to me anywhere. We won't be going back there anytime soon.

I would have been fine with a few minutes. This was ridiculous.

That's too funny!!
“Whatsa matter? Don’t you like garlic?”
:hilarious::hilarious::hilarious::hilarious: Actually I do!!

My sister wants to try Via Napoli when we go in August, so I made us a reservation - but now I'm getting nervous....

The "favorite child" is a joke amongst myself and my siblings - one of my sisters got our mom a coffee mug that said "From Your Favorite Child" a few years ago. And my brother always claims 'MFC' status ('my/mom's favorite child's). I love that other families do this too. :joyfull:

J was thrilled with his birthday gift from R & myself. We got him an iPod & I wrote him a note in the card that said, “Now you can take your own pictures in Disney!!”
That is so cool! Happy Birthday J! And can I just ask, how big IS that center island?!

Happy birthday, J!!! I've never had an ipod, but I didn't know you can take pictures with them! I thought it was just like a radio, but you downloaded the music on yourself.

That is a very wise idea. I like it!! The only way I would go back is probably by doing it that way.

Hopefully you will have a better experience. I know not every place is perfect all the time but I will say I hear a lot of negatives about the service & unfortunately, I have to agree with it.
That is so cool! Happy Birthday J! And can I just ask, how big IS that center island?!
Thanks!! I'm not quite sure but there are 12 chairs around 3 sides of it so it is pretty big.
Wow! That's the biggest island table thing I've ever seen!
We make pierogies for Christmas every year & that island comes in quite handy for it!!
Happy Birthday J!
Thank you!!
You are up there with the best aunties! I can’t say the best, because one of my sisters has been given that spot 😉 but you are up there tied in second place with some other very cool women 😀
Why thanks!!
Happy birthday, J!!! I've never had an ipod, but I didn't know you can take pictures with them! I thought it was just like a radio, but you downloaded the music on yourself.
You can do both with it. It's pretty much an iphone without the phone part.
Aw, Happy Birthday J! What a great gift!
Thanks!! He's pretty excited. As soon as he got it he asked E to charge it!!
Tell my Disney Boyfriend “Happy Birthday!” Taking notes from you on being the best aunt! Tuvalette and Tuvaleen will appreciate it.

Loved the accidental camera switch on the safari. Love E’s shirt and her comment :hilarious:
I told him yesterday & he blushed a bit!! I'm sure you're already the best aunt!!

Now that he got a hang of the switch watch out!! He thinks he's a pro with the whole selfie thing!! E--gotta love her sense of humor!!

That would be excellent for pierogie making! I have an old old kitchen with just a tiny area to make them... and it's a PITA! That sounds really good. I'm going to have to make some soon. My family never made the standard potato cheese ones... we make a mixture of small curd cottage cheese, and farmers cheese. Sometimes onion. I usually leave the onion out because hubby doesn't like onion.. and if I really want one with onion, I'll saute them with onions and butter when I fry mine.

Let's face it.....making pierogies is a PITA period!! They're great but a ton of work!! We make three different kinds:
-potato cheese
-cheese(we use dry cottage cheese)
-sauerkraut(my favorite!!)

My grandma used to make ones with ground meat:hungover: and ones with prunes:hungover:
I've never had them with farmers cheese. I love to hear the different types that people make.
We uses TONS of onion & butter to saute them. Like, seriously, WAY TOO MUCH!! They are so good though!!
