The Hobbit at Disney?

yes, 2 major blunders

Sorry, I don't see how the dark mideval cruel world of Tolkein would fit at WDW. WWOHP is the best thing for Universal. They are real competition for the first time. Hopefully they do add a Lord of the Rings land. I'd love to go.

I am all about some competition.

If they went your route, I ditch BK and just make it a LOTR land that revolved around the fantasy creatures of that particular universe. It might be a bit of a thematic stretch, but with some creativity you can make almost anything work. I think LOTR is such an expansive world that it deserves a whole land at the very least.

see, i would go the other way with it: if they were going to do something remotely BK-esque, they might as well do BK. i know all the history and how the laid off imagineers took the dragon tower idea to build dueling dragons and why they haven't done it since the original plan, but i still think the land has so, so much potential for AK. not to divert this into a BK thread, just saying.

as far as LOTR at disney, i agree that it may be too dark. i enjoy LOTR, but i feel like it'd be trying to fit a square peg into a round hole.

There is a Tolkien story that would fit Disney well though: Roverandom. About a dog who's turned into a toy by an frustrated wizard and goes on adventures to the moon and under the sea to find a way to get turned back.

I don't see it with the current themes and land left in the 4 gates, and having the attraction live up to disney's standards. I only think we will see a shire with a 5th gate, so no holding your breath.
