Good Morning Disney Friends,Was watching our first video the other night of our first WDW vacation, boy were we green about where to eat,we did not do any planning or homework,I think we lived on dogs and burgers, but now we know there's lots of excellent choices out there so have you got a hidden gem for QS and TS anywhere in WDW.It was only on our last visit we ate at Sunshine Seasons at Epcot, wow, awesome choices and great food,so this year we've got four ADRS but the one iam looking forward to is Saana at AK. What are your hidden gems that maybe a first timer should check out?:slurp:

Sanaa is fantastic, you will love it!!

I have two hidden gems, one is not so hidden. At HS eat at the bar at 50's prime time cafe. No wait, same amazing food, the meatloaf is fantastic. My hidden gem is the small coffee and bakery in Africa at AK. It is to the left right before the Safari, great after doing a morning safari first thing.

At Sanaa you got to try something slow braised. Its the best!

The Plaza hands down in MK and the bakery, almost no one stops there and it is fantastic. The sweetrolls in the bakery are about as big as my head. LOL Defininately will give you a sugar boost to get through the morning at MK>

Over at Saratoga Springs the quick serve offerings are really great. I have a craving for the breakfast flatbread (and in the afternoon the barbque chicken!)

My last trip I was over at Boardwalk - too much of a hike to get there for a breakfast flatbread - but I did think about doing it!!!

Real Mad hatter,

I agree you will love SAANA! I really don't have a hidden gem to mention at the moment but, I am sure if I think about it I will come up with something.

I just wanted to say THANKS. I love your questions each day, even if I don't reply I enjoy what you put out there and reading the responses. Good Disney stuff!

There are lots, but one of my favorites that gets the least press is the Cabana Bar at the Dolphin. It doesn't participate with the dining plan so it's not an option for everyone, but it's one of our favorite places for a casual lunch or dinner. Their salads, flatbreads and sandwiches are wonderful. We've begun our vacation with a lunch there on our last two trips and will likely do the same on our next visit.

Yes! Artist Pallet is a really good option. We love their flat-bread pizza.

I remember back in '96, our first trip was filled with many of the same things you mentioned (burgers and dogs). One thing that we found fun as we "matured" WDW style was going to other resorts and utilizing their food services. It allowed us to explore more even if we would never stay there. Every resort on property is so unique and special that it is fun to investigate.

Places that are a must:
Sunshine seasons (as you said) So many options!
Earl of Sandwhich
Wolfgang Puck Express
The Mara at AKL
ESPN club for sports junkies (we just even go there for appetizers)

You come up with the best questions!!! We have eaten at so many places in Disney, however, although not five star rating, Ohana really stands out, for several reasons, firstly, the food, is great, not outstanding, but great. One year, I was on a strict diet, and didnt want to really eat anything I didnt know the fat content of. I told our server this, the Chef came out and asked what plan I was on (weight watchers), he prepared a meal for me, that was outstanding, took the time to tell me, what the fat content was, of each item. The following year, we brought our niece, who was highly allergic to shell fish and nuts. Once again, the Chef came to our table, and could not have been more helpful. There are so many outstanding restaurants in Disney, however, Ohana really was above and beyond our expectations!

Starring Rolls is definitely a hidden gem, the sandwiches are tasty and huge but they're easy to miss if you're not looking for them!

I think a lot of unseasoned WDW travelers don't make good enough use of the resort restaurants (or boardwalk either). Too many times, they limit themselves to whatever is in the park they happen to be in.
