The Haunted Mansion with no tracks?

It seems as if a new ride technology (already in use at the Tokyo Disneyland attraction "Pooh's Hunny Hunt") is coming to WDW and DL, but in a few years. This patented ride technology allows and attraction to be built with no tracks, leaving the ride vehicles to move randomly around the attraction, through different paths. The ride vehicles use LPS (Local Positioning System) technology generated inside the attraction tiles. The tiles inside the attraction send signals to the ride vehicle and are randomly generated by the splitsecond, causing each ride to be unique. What if this was implemented into WDW attractions? Comments?

It could be neat, but depending on how the layout of the ride is done with scenery, should the ride breakdown and need evacuated, instead of having all the cars in 1 continuous line, you'd need more CMs to "find" the cars and get riders off and out, without guests messing with the scenery.

It looks good on paper, and if it's done well can be successful, but the "what if's" might win out.

We know how it works and everything, but you'll never see all the attractions go to this system. Just wouldn't work. The down time and refurbs needed to just widen, let's say, HM, would be drastic. And people complain when Splash Mountain goes down during their vacations for much needed refurbs... besides, some of the boat rides couldn't use this technology. Maybe JC, but not Pirates or IASW since they use water jets to propel the boats... no. A new ride with this technology I'm all for but don't retrofit the old ones to shoehorn it in.

Here is the video of this technology in use at Tokyo Disneyland. The attraction is called "Poohs Hunny Hunt" as mentioned earlier. This attraction cost a whopping 165 million dollars to develop.

Not trying to be crass here but....we know. This system has been talked about ad nauseum here and how/what/where we'd like to see it utilized. I won't be such a jerk, because you're new (welcome!) but this is old ground.

Yes, I realize. But the we you are referring to is a very limited amount of people of this forum. Some people have not heard of this technology yet alone the technology used in SDMT.

on a positive note, if they did implement it, the haunted mansion would be much scarier everytime you ride it, and it opens up windows for different scares with each ride, you could get thrown close to something that maybe you wouldn't want to. Leota's seance room would probably be the coolest for this type of thing.

But the falling from the attic would have to go...

Pretty sure when you exit out the attic window into the grave yard the only thing stopping you from tipping over is the track. I'm going to call this one false.

Right! That incline is a little steeper than people realize and I don't think a trackless system would work for that part.
