Trip Report The HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!...oh and congratulations report. COMPLETED

The day had arrived! June 25th. C and I were finally going on our Mother-Daughter trip to Disney! We are now part of an elite club of ladies!

I had just gotten back from a wonderful wine trip to Traverse City Michigan with E, my oldest daughter, the night before so I was a little tired to begin with plus I caught a "bug" and wasn't feeling quite myself, luckily it was starting to taper by my second day at Disney.

Our drive to Detroit airport was uneventful and we breezed past security. We flew with Delta and just have to say I loved both times we've used them.
Whoo Hoo!! That's our plane!

Warning... 95% of the photos on this trip were with my phone. I wanted to be in the moment and not carry my camera. I did take all our evening pictures at Epcot with my Sony A6000, which I haven't been practicing on like I should. Sorry @fractal. I also take horrible selfies so beware.

Magical Express was in my sights, just seeing it had me smiling from ear to ear.

We waited a whole 4 minutes and it was time to get on MDE! The bus was already packed so I know our wait to head off wouldn't be long.

Of course MDE was also stopping at AOA and their stop was first, so C and I decided to get off at AOA and use the walkway to POP. We wanted to see AOA and knew this may be our only chance. Little did I know how much this walkway would come in handy!!

Here she is!! Our home for the next week! The backside of POP!

I hadn't received a text so I went up to check in to see if our room was ready. It wasn't, but no big deal, it was around 1pm and we had plans to go to DS for some Earl of Sandwich. While talking with Check in I mentioned that C had just graduated high school and was heading off to Ball State University (chirp chirp) and would it be possible to give her a Congratulations pin. "of course" says the CM. Then C chimes in, "your birthday was last week, you should get a birthday pin". The CM is more than happy to oblige.

We head to bell services to drop off our bags and wait for our first bus to DS!

After wandering around for little while we found Earl.

C got the Caprese and a side of mac n cheese. I got the Chipotle Chicken Avacado. Thanks @blgauger for the tip.

Although my sandwich was extremely tasty my stomach was winning the battle and started to get upset. I called it quits but not before I tried a bite of C's mac n cheese. I highly recommend it. It was delicious.

We checked out some stores and decided to head back to POP. We still hadn't received a room ready text but since it was after 4:00 we were hopeful. I hadn't seen the Characters in Flight go up and to be honest my stomach wasn't sure it could have handled the heights (this is something we planned on doing) so on we went to the bus stop. If anyone is going to be riding Characters in Flight you may want to call ahead to make sure they are running. It didn't seem very windy so I'm not sure why it didn't go up while we were there. @ajrwdwgirl ;)

One thing I did notice that I found out while on our trip is that the bus pick up for POP is pretty much the last one at every park except for AK.

I was finally able to take the time to read your report. Fabulous report and what memories you and your daughter will have of the trip together! :inlove: I'm glad you were able to go to Ample Hills, that is my favorite ice cream on property (and probably anywhere). I hope you got the Oatmeal, that's the best! Sorry about your icky MK morning but it looks like your trip ended on a good note later in the afternoon!

I did get the Oatmeal!!! It was my favorite of the three that I had. I'm glad we took the time to stop there!

Great report! Sounds like you guys had a wonderful time, with memories made to last a lifetime!
Thanks, I'm wishing I was back there. Everytime we come back from a trip I say that was the best one yet. I'm saying that about this one now. :inlove:

Great report... It's a blessing and torture reading these knowing we don't plan to go until 2020
Ugh, I now know what you mean. If I had my say we'd be back every year and take weekend trips elsewhere but unfortunately there are the bills and house repairs that J thinks are important :bored: plus he actually wants to vacation elsewhere! :jawdrop: We probably won't be back for 3 years. :bawling: ...probably

Enjoyed reading your TR! I actually celebrated my high school graduation too at WDW back in May. With that being said, I understand all the stress that C might be experiencing that comes with getting ready for college. Glad y’all were able to get away from the real world for a bit. Hope everything goes well for her at Ball State! :)

Great report - glad you had a good mother, daughter trip. You’ve made loads of special memories together.
I can’t believe I’m going to say this but I’ve never been to Ample hills - well we’ve gone in and then left as we’re normally too full to eat. One day!

Thanks for sharing and taking the time to write it

Yeah, well my consolation is that we will be down in St Pete Beach for Thanksgiving, and we are going to drive up to Disney Springs for 1 day ... shop, eat lunch, and maybe take a bus over to see the xmas decorations at the GF.

Then we are going to New Orleans in February to get out of the snow. After that hubby has some small trips, etc... but after march 2019 is when I can finally start putting money towards a 2020 trip.

LONGERS!! What is this.... the ice cream queen has never had ice cream at Ample Hill!!? I did love the oatmeal ice cream, and the strawberries and cream ice cream. I'm glad I tried it. It's good enough to go back but unless I'm at one of the resorts close by I probably won't make a special trip out of my way to go there. There are so many yummy place to get ice cream!! And i can't wait to read about your trip coming up!!

I love happy endings!

Thanks for the report @Zipitidoda and enjoy your "non-Disney" adventures!
A happy ending indeed! Thanks for reading fractal.

Sounds like a really nice plan. I'd take a day at DS rather than nothing at all, why do we love it so much. :bored: :inlove:

We were at Disney when you completed this so I finally got caught up with your TR. I was sooo sad that your last MK day started so rough. Very happy that it ended so well! Love that you got to see the Kiss Goodnight. It is my absolute favorite! My sister, my daughter and I were the only ones in our group to stay that long. We walked through the castle and just happened to be taking photos when it began. It was extra special to be so close! So happy you had such a memorable mother daughter trip! Here’s hoping you are able to make it back sooner than you think!

Thanks for coming back to read my report!!

Even though our last day started bad we had such a great rest of the day that I look back at it with giddiness :inlove:. The kiss goodnight really isn't much but with the music and the speaker it just gives me goosebumps. I hope to read about your trip soon!!

I know what you mean about Kiss Goodnight being so simple. I love the announcers voice. I am almost finished uploading photos and then I will start my report. School starts in 2 weeks and then I have to take my daughter to college, so it will probably take forever to write! That’s okay though because it will help keep the Disney blues and the “missing my college girl” blues at bay!

@Songbird76 - You shouldn't have to wait for your visits home for pot roast - it is pretty easy to make if you have a dutch oven and the right cut of meat. With the recipe I have it practically cooks itself.
I don't have a Dutch oven...and I would have NO clue which cut of meat to ask for. I was having this discussion with @RedNoseMickey before and she mentioned I could go to a butcher to ask for the cut of meat....but I really don't know what that would be. So I settle for getting it when I'm in the US. Maybe I'll figure it out someday....I really miss potroast!!!
