Trip Report The HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!...oh and congratulations report. COMPLETED

The day had arrived! June 25th. C and I were finally going on our Mother-Daughter trip to Disney! We are now part of an elite club of ladies!

I had just gotten back from a wonderful wine trip to Traverse City Michigan with E, my oldest daughter, the night before so I was a little tired to begin with plus I caught a "bug" and wasn't feeling quite myself, luckily it was starting to taper by my second day at Disney.

Our drive to Detroit airport was uneventful and we breezed past security. We flew with Delta and just have to say I loved both times we've used them.
Whoo Hoo!! That's our plane!

Warning... 95% of the photos on this trip were with my phone. I wanted to be in the moment and not carry my camera. I did take all our evening pictures at Epcot with my Sony A6000, which I haven't been practicing on like I should. Sorry @fractal. I also take horrible selfies so beware.

Magical Express was in my sights, just seeing it had me smiling from ear to ear.

We waited a whole 4 minutes and it was time to get on MDE! The bus was already packed so I know our wait to head off wouldn't be long.

Of course MDE was also stopping at AOA and their stop was first, so C and I decided to get off at AOA and use the walkway to POP. We wanted to see AOA and knew this may be our only chance. Little did I know how much this walkway would come in handy!!

Here she is!! Our home for the next week! The backside of POP!

I hadn't received a text so I went up to check in to see if our room was ready. It wasn't, but no big deal, it was around 1pm and we had plans to go to DS for some Earl of Sandwich. While talking with Check in I mentioned that C had just graduated high school and was heading off to Ball State University (chirp chirp) and would it be possible to give her a Congratulations pin. "of course" says the CM. Then C chimes in, "your birthday was last week, you should get a birthday pin". The CM is more than happy to oblige.

We head to bell services to drop off our bags and wait for our first bus to DS!

After wandering around for little while we found Earl.

C got the Caprese and a side of mac n cheese. I got the Chipotle Chicken Avacado. Thanks @blgauger for the tip.

Although my sandwich was extremely tasty my stomach was winning the battle and started to get upset. I called it quits but not before I tried a bite of C's mac n cheese. I highly recommend it. It was delicious.

We checked out some stores and decided to head back to POP. We still hadn't received a room ready text but since it was after 4:00 we were hopeful. I hadn't seen the Characters in Flight go up and to be honest my stomach wasn't sure it could have handled the heights (this is something we planned on doing) so on we went to the bus stop. If anyone is going to be riding Characters in Flight you may want to call ahead to make sure they are running. It didn't seem very windy so I'm not sure why it didn't go up while we were there. @ajrwdwgirl ;)

One thing I did notice that I found out while on our trip is that the bus pick up for POP is pretty much the last one at every park except for AK.

Our name gets called and we get our table. Not a window table but next to it.

Bread, not the best, actually probably the worst. Cold and hard.

C got the goat cheese salad and thought it was good.

We both ordered the mac n cheese. I was really looking forward to this even though I wasn't to hungry.

Our thoughts. It was a bad experience. We were there for so long. The couple behind us arrived after us, received their appetizer, entree, bill and left before we got our mac n cheese. The mac n cheese was not good, I had such high hopes but it was dry and a little flavorless in my opinion. The bathroom was very dirty and this light fixture above us was moldy. We will not be going back to Chefs De France.

Despite our bad dinner we were still upbeat and wanted to tour the Showcase. So beautiful and a little less crowded then I thought it'd be. It was threatening to rain again but never did.

We ended up moving a little for Illuminations to find a better spot but it was very moving.

One last sad shot of Illuminations

Germany at night

We had to stop by Karmell Kuche since I was feeling better. So much to choose from, I went with the dark chocolate caramel. :hungry: More than made up for my bad mac n cheese and a small bag of caramel corn, which sadly got stale before I got to eat it. :grumpy:

Hollywood fireworks while walking around Epcot. I loved this area, the music was going, there wasn't anyone around. This is where I'd go right now if I could.

It's time to ride Figment!!! Only Figment is down and stays down the rest of the night. This was something C really wanted to do. We still have one thing left to do though. The one thing everyone must do if they are at Epcot. Yes! Spaceship Earth! It was down earlier so we have a FP+ still to use, not that you need it at 10:00.

After Spaceship we are reluctant to leave and decide to ride Soarin one last time. Kind of a consolation for Figment. It's a good flight. We had concourse C this time. We slowly walk to the exit. We're very happy with our day at Epcot!

Agree about TC and School Cafeteria de France. Monsieur Paul upstairs is Heaven (but stuffy and fancy) and the pastry shop in back is wonderful and inexpensive.
Yeah, it was a crappy day eating at Disney (except for my kids roast) but that's fine at least now I know where i don't want to go. Thanks for the tip about MP.

Love your new “friend”’s superhero pose! :joyfull:

Our bread at Chefs de France has always been warm. :hungry: We have to force ourselves to stop eating it. However we usually are there for lunch, not dinner, so maybe that makes a difference?
I had to laugh. He saw me taking a picture but he was comfortable and not moving. :joyfull:

I'm sorry about your Chefs experience... ours was a good one.. our bread was warm, and I food was tasty. But I do agree our service was a bit on the slow side.
Glad you had a good experience, everyone around us seemed to be happy.

Sorry about your meal at Chefs. :( I had the complete opposite experience (couldn't stop eating the bread).

oh and Congratulations! Seriously to C. Best wishes to her on her next step in life!
I honestly haven't heard a bad review on Chef's so I was a little surprised. The waiter, when he did come to our table always looked apologetic. Maybe we had an off visit.

And thanks for the well wishes for C. We had a good laugh about all the congratulations from CM's. I think it really had to do with her hair covering her pin a little bit, it made it harder to see.

We had the same experience at Chefs! I was so excited for the mac n cheese (actually one of the reasons we picked the restaurant as our daughter was under 3 and we were on the meal plan, I figured I would just share it with her). I was so disappointed because it had no taste to it at all. Part of me wants to try it again because I'm thinking we must have had an off night, but it was that bad that I don't think I will. And it doesn't help you're packed in like sardines!

Sorry you had that experience at Chefs de France. We went once for dinner a few years ago and it was really good. The bread was warm, like it was just out of the oven, and it was sooooo good. We even asked for seconds because my husband loves bread. I had the mac and cheese and it was great. Very creamy, cheesy, and flavorful. I often wish I could have it again but I've somehow become lactose intolerant (extremely depressing for this cheese lover lol). I don't remember what my husband had but it was decent. And the desserts were out of this world. It began my husband's love affair with creme brulee LOL. What I didn't like about the restaurant was how close the tables were to each other. We loved the food but not the atmosphere. It was too crowded for us and because of that we've never been back.

I'm glad I'm not the only one to feel this way, I was starting to feel like I was being to harsh.

Ohhh I love bread too, I would've loved to have it nice and warm and cheese, don't get me started! I really was looking forward to that mac n cheese. Nothing is better than an awesome oven baked mac n cheese. I'd like to give them another chance, but I really don't see it happening. There's to many other choices out there to try. One thing I've never is a crème brulee. Maybe I'll add that to my bucket list.

Following along and love your report. I agree with you about the meal at Chef's at France. In December I got the mac and cheese also and it was one of the worst meals I ever had at Disney, I don't think I will ever go back as I was so disappointed.

Okay Okay, C is giving me crap for saying that she thinks the 70's and 80's sucked. She just explained she meant that the decorations on the 70's and 80's buildings suck. That was my fault, I misunderstood.:)

This post made me laugh - if your C is like my C, it couldn't possibly be because she didn't say it in a way that made sense (to anyone not in her own thoughts), right? :joyfull:

A touch late but I'm loving the report.
I've only been to WDW twice (since coming from Australia is a little hard), and your trip report it making me miss 'home' a little less! <3
So happy you're enjoying it. I know I've read many trip reports here that helped me through those Disney Blues.

I’m late - oops....
Sorry you didn’t feel good at the start of your trip. Love that you spent time with your daughter in Disney.
Hoping fir some ice cream photos at some point :)
I’m following along
We do finally get some ice cream but sadly not as much as I had hoped, I was planning on having more but just didn't due to not feeling the best. I didn't feel bad the entire trip. It came and went. If I got to hungry or ate then it made my stomach upset. Weird, first time something like that happened.

Joining late, but enjoying the report so far! C really favors you! My stomach gets that way too sometimes, and once it's hurting, it won't stop until the next day. I think it happens when I wait too long to eat when I'm hungry, and sorry TMI...pretty sure it's gas. It just doesn't come out, it bloats me right up! :hilarious:

Also, so sad to hear your Chefs review! We are going in October. I'll still keep the reservation because I know it could have been an off night, but now I'm a little worried :cautious:

Oh yeah and your bag check strategy...BRILLIANT!
