I’m so conflicted over this. The imagineers HAVE to be better than this. Are they not up to the level of skill of their predecessors? Did they fire a bunch of talent? Was it done on purpose to mock or discredit? Either scenario seems a stretch. I just can’t imagine why the look of this AA is so off.

Just look at Bill Clinton or Ronald Reagan... those don't look good, either. Obama wasn't very good, but it wasn't this bad. Plus, I think they put Obama on GH Bush's frame and made him a lot smaller than he should be. <shakes fist>

IOW, the HoP in a non-partisan face-slapper.

I visited the attraction with Bush Jr. and Obama and felt uneasy both times when the current President spoke. There was a tension in the room, perhaps emanating from me, but I felt it. For the record, I was uneasy because I felt it inappropriate for anyone to do anything other than cheer or respectfully remain silent, and each of the times I saw it there was at least one half-hearted "boo." I never had a deep love of this attraction, but I do admire what it strives to be. That being said, I think I'll check it out in four years.

Actually, the photo on page 9 of this thread shows those same spikey things in the old version. They were just not as visible because they were black instead of white.
Not sure what picture you're referring to but there were no spikes before the refurb.

I’m not a business insider fan.. but here’s an article that show each president compared against his animatronic.

Most are not a great replica.

I also agree with what someone said yesterday, it’s much easier to have a harder time accepting more recent presidents, than it is to compare older ones who we only know they photos.
I think it’s also easier if they have defining characteristics. i.e. A beard, mustache, disntinct nose, large ears, etc... or with Trump-the hair and the tie length

So basically, they're all meant to be seen from far away.

I can’t help but compare the presidents to Jack Sparrow - who looks SO lifelike - and think they can do better, but you make a great point about defining characteristics. If you remove the hair, hat, etc from Jack, would he look that much like regular old Johnny Depp? I would love to know!

I actually thought about Johnny Depp right after I typed that sentence. Strip all of that off of Jack Sparrow, and would it be just as realistic? I don’t know.

Most of them are not very close to the photos. JFK (who looks more like Mister Rogers) and Reagan are particularly bad. Pretty much every one since JFK doesn't really look like the person at all when viewed in close up pictures. Sit far back and "suspend disbelief."

Ah, that makes sense, kind of like stage makeup usage.

Right. This is my take- have enough of a likeness and some defining features or defining clothing, the audience is several feet away, they’re picturing the president (whichever one is being spotlighted at that time) in their mind., it all just ‘works’.

When we have super close up shots compared to super close ups of the presidents.. then it starts to fall apart.. but that’s not what we’re seeing during the show.

Surprisingly (to me) Barack is an inch shorter than George H. Bush. He looks tall because he is slender, but he didn't exactly miss out on a great career at the Chicago Bulls.

Just left the attraction, the refurb defiantly cleaned it up and everything was in working order. You can tell management is on pins and needles. Several police officers, mid level managers and cast members were scattered all through the attraction. The crowd behaved well and there was a pretty loud applause at the end. The narration was okay, not Morgan freeman by any means though.

I disagree. I have never thought there was a tension in the air. Just sitting back and enjoying history.

Hall of Presidents has reopened at the Magic Kingdom and has hit capacity and they are using an extended queue for future shows.

This crowds are awesome-cant wait to see it in June. Don't think there will ever be small crowds for years to come.
