Ronald Reagan and great don't match. I'm not gonna comment on the other guy to not turn this too political but he is WAY too decisive to be even mentioned alongside others.

Yes, of course, because all your years of actual life experience make you an expert, and all sooooo much smarter and informed than us crazy ol’ boomers.
You’re entitled to your opinion, of course, but, I’m so damn glad I’m not gonna’ be on this earth all that much longer.
Have fun with what’s gonna’ be left of this country, and the rest of it all.

I feel like this is really testing the limits of what can be discussed here without getting deleted.

It’s my opinion. If it gets deleted, so be it.
It was a discussion about who considered who great Americans.
Being 62+ years old, I have a different perspective/opinion than members 40+ years younger than myself.
If that gets my post deleted, fine.
But, what a shame to not consider an opinion from somebody with much more life experience less valid.
Ageism much…?!

Fair enough and no I am not ageist.

I should have made myself more clear…not you, specifically.
But, I didn’t go through 62 years of life and be comfortably retired (having worked in architecture for 42+ years) because I’m a moron.
If I offended you, my sincerest apologies, but I’m also tired of being dismissed here because I happen to be much older than many here.

You’re right that is not fair.

Its honoring only and all Presidents no matter sides or contributions etc not any other political figures, which in turn is patriotism and pride in national history. As cambellzsoup post said above: if you don’t like who’s voted in (and I'll add in past or present) don’t go or grow up.
This is a profound misunderstanding of the presidency and patriotism.

When has anyone here been dismissed for being “too old?” Posters on this board are, overall, older then the social media norm, and I’ve only ever seen folks dismissed for being “too young,” and that only rarely.

Just to add, and then I really need to, finally, actually, excuse myself from this thread, as I don’t need the (yes, self-imposed 😉) stress.
I have been married for over 36 years, my wife and myself have 3 children in their 30’s and two young granddaughters.
It’s not about me, I just worry about their future.
I want them to know the good, the bad and the ugly.
No lies, no lies by omission, and no made up BS.
At least that that would give them a fair opportunity to figure it all out themselves.
Simple truth.
With all the blemishes, scars, etc., it has,
I still believe this country is the greatest one on the planet, and, even though I’m not sure how much longer I’ll be around, I’d like it to stay that way.

Well said. Whether HoP in any form actually does that stuff, I don't know.

It fails to do none of it as it both isn't informative on the actual issues but presents the presidential role with regard that imo is no longer relevant to a modern audience. Call me a cynic but I really don't think much of what is portrayed in HOP is actually informative and is more a love letter style presentation which had a place that I think is quickly dying. Imo, there are a few IPs that can work much better in this attraction space.

Yeah I’m 69 years old, married 44 years , have 2 kids aged 36 and 40 and 4 grandchildren.

This is the greatest country on this planet, but it’s not the people we elected president who made it so. It’s us.

I agree that people should know the accurate history of this country.

I’ve not seen ageism here.

I’m pretty sure I’m the only one here has said anything to you in this thread and it was just on my hatred for Ronald Reagan?

With all due respect, no one should be dismissed no matter how old they are. A new Disney fan who’s a kids opinion is just as valid as someone who is older. At the end of the day, the world is changing again for a new generation. I would expect certain things to be sunset but after a sunset comes the sunrise. New stuff will appear as the parks aren’t a forever museum.

Reagan was the only President to have his parade go down World Showcase one morning followed by day time fireworks. WDW pulled out the red carpet to make that happen.
