Actually I'm a little bit upset that it is closing on Nov 1st, b/c I go there on Nov. 23rd and I'm taking my Dad their for the 1st time and I wanted to show him it, b/c he would be interested in it. Am I the only one on here who is disapointed that HOP is closing for refurbishment . It's a Walt attraction, a classic, how could you people be not be sad that its getting rufurbed?

Right. It doesnt matter if it is a "classic" or not, all attractions need major refurb ever few years. Yearly maintanence on most, if not all attractions is critical too. Nobody wants to go see a show that is falling apart.

As far as refurbing something to be a part of the 21 century (technology wise), bring it on. No one wants to sit in a theater and listen to audio through 1970 quality speakers.

As far as the show contents getting reburbed or updated, bring that on too. Things have to evolve sometimes. People will come to see a classic that hasnt changed, but even more people will come to see a classic with new show elements.

its not such a bad thing to refresh things every once in a while. the sentiment will still be the same. i think its exciting to give a little love to a classic walt attraction.

make sure to take your dad to American Adventure in Epcot if he'd be into HoP! its makes cry every time!

Sounds like a completely new show is being created. I agree with the previous post that this has to do with the 40th Anniversary and the possibility of reviving and showcasing classic MK attractions. Well the ones that still exist anyway. :lookaroun

I heard it was turning into the Rockin Hall of Presidents featuring the Red Hot Chili Peppers and that all the AA's were being replaced with video screens where each president will break it down to "rollercoaster":lookaroun:lookaroun:lookaroun:D

I found this really interesting. They Use the same AA for each current president, they just change it's skin. then they put a cheaper (less complex) aa as the previous president among the others.

So bush will just be nodding his head now with the others.

.... I think they should show the revolutionary war period and show the founding fathers signing the constituion. ....

I think that the attraction would be interesting and more to the point, for Liberty Square, if it concentrated on the Revolutionary War period and the key figures of that time rather than showing a continuing line of US presidents.

The only way the current attraction with just the presidents could be made more interesting is to have the animatronic figures be bobble heads but that might not be considered proper.

This seems like a rather long refurbishment period. I haven't seen the show in at least ten years, so I barely remember it. Hopefully it will come back up with a show that will hold people's attention. No attraction should be a snooze-fest.

On a related note, I'd also love to see a major refurbishment for The American Adventure. I took a nice nap in there last year, and it was only the first time I saw it. I really think it needs an update (or at least a new song). It doesn't even run continuously; there's only a new show every 45 minutes. It would be nice to see a new show in the theater that would pull many more people in. It's really focused on certain people and events in history. In contrast, the other Showcase attractions are more focused on the nation as a whole: the people, the places and, yes, historical figures. I think the American show should showcase much more about our nation than the wars we've been in and the people who have made inspirational speeches.

And one other thing... This thread has been good so far. Please don't let it slide into a political discussion. the show is being reformatted; that may or may not include all of the past presidents or whichever candidate gets elected in November. So I'd rather noit speculate here about who's favorite "addiion" will make it into the show.

.

They added more photos at the end last summer to update it. And while the song is corny it fits the attraction. It runs every 45 minutes because its a 25 minute show and they need time to shuffle people in and out of the theater. I suppose they could rush it a little more but the theater his hardly ever full anyhow so why run it more frequently? I'd imagine it also has to do with timing it to other performances at the pavilion like the Voices of Liberty. I always have to see them sing on every trip even if i don't make it into the theater.

That sounds very familiar, oh yeah! Spaceship Earth! (I finally rode it due to my trip the last two weeks, I was MAD)

But anyway I just hope that they don 't try to make it "more relevant" or dumb it down so "everyone" will get it.
Yes, we wouldn't want people to enjoy the attraction would we?

I personally hope they discuss the transferance of the government from a Jeffersonian democracy to a Jacksonian democracy. That should keep the rabble out.

If someone other than a small minority gets the attraction then it is terrible!

/sigh

I hope they do dumb it down to make it accessible to a wider audience. I would personally love this attraction but am not very appreciative of how the topic of the Civil War is handled.

The more accessible it is the more people will go see it and the more impact it will have on the park in a positive way.

What I meant was how Spaceship Earth was taken from an enlightened look at the past and a challenge to us for the future to an attraction that talks down to you like you are stupid makes attempts to connect great civilizations to electronics today and present us with a Jib-Jab Jetsons cartoon with your head on it as "the future".
I did not mean to say that an attraction should try to narrow its audience by making it very intelligent; Spaceship Earth never was, only about a 6th grade level. But I do believe it should be educational and not talk down to you.

The new President is chosen in november they probably close it, start putting the generic parts of a new AA together for it, Start putting the wiring for the new AA, then since the president is elected in November they can be ready for a new AA by the time the election is over or shortly there after. That gives a couple months to actually install it and get the voice recorded for it.

Nowonder you like going to the place of dreams, LOL! Anyone who thinks this country is going to elect another republican after what we just went through for the last 8 years is definitely in dream land.

Here, if McCain wins, I will pay for everyone on the wdwmagic.com boards to go to Disney World!

Please be careful, we don't want this thread turning into a political fistfight. It will be terminated, duh, duh duh du duh! (Terminator music)...

But I'll quote you on that and there's a 50/50 chance we'll get a trip to Disney! YAY!
But really, watch what ya post!

This is a slippery slope, I'd stay away from politcal topics!

I love a political discussion, but guys and gals, if you want to keep this thread alive, it is not the place for which "addition" we want to see in the show...

Oh, Yay for a new show!

My family has a rule that we only have to go to HoP when a new President animatronic is added. Once every four to eight years seems to work for us. :)
