Yea PUBG should be excluded for GOTY etc as it was still essentially a beta game and has only just been officially released. People have been saying for years that WOW is dead yet Blizzard still seem to make expansions for a dead game, kind of like all those failed Disney movies that make over a billion dollars :p
They’re obviously still making money from WoW but doesn’t all of this “doom” come from how low the player count is from the game’s peak?

Not saying it’s “doomed” at all btw because as we all know only Nintendo is ever doomed :hilarious:

7 - 9 million players a month isn't exactly what I would call a doomed game tbh even from the peak of what 15 million that all came from when they had a big drop then announced a new expansion and pretty much everyone came back. Nintendo and Disney are doomed remember

WoW peaked with something like 12 million subs during the Wrath of the Lich King expansion, and rightfully so, it was quite possibly the greatest MMO expansion ever developed, the greatest expansion for any game type period.

Since that expansion the sub numbers have bounced around from 8-10 million subs when a new xpack launches to 4-5 million by the end of the expansions life. at at average of 15 bucks a month per sub, WoW is still a cash cow even at its lowest levels. I open face laugh with my fists pushing in my sides when people say WoW is dying. Rift is dying. Star Wars The Old Republic is on life support. WoW still has, and I'm a betting man, I would say at least 10 more years.

Funny story.

I went to Gamestop today to get me Cuphead and Mugman plushy's for my son and when I was checking out, the guy behind the counter was asking people if they wanted presales of upcoming games for all systems. When it got to me, I mentioned I'm usually a PC guy and he said that the new WoW expansion just went to presale and the only way I would get a copy day one is if I preorder, I said I already did it digitally through Blizzard. He looked at me like he was going to cry and passed me off to another associate. The only thing I could think of, "Was it something I said?".

GameStop is another that could end up doomed. I get all my games at Best Buy now and others choose Amazon.

I just download them from the e-shop. I have a ton of gamestop gift cards that I don't think I will ever spend. Too bad really, I will miss that old place, but time goes on.

If you have gift cards I say use them. It’s like free money if they were gifts.

Personally, I don't mind Gamestop, our local store had, had mind you, great people working there who knew their stuff. They also used to run Smash Bros tournaments in store from time to time that were tremendous fun. But they are not long for this world as more and more companies go digital to distribute games. The only time I get physical copies now is when they are gifts from others.

But this is good.

Funny how EA is ranked #5, which is worse than the Weinstein Group. Write your own jokes for that one, they should write themselves.

Yes
The only thing I really use GameStop for nowadays is collecting Wii games. They're everywhere, and you're more than likely to find some of the console's gems for a good price.

People mostly care only when their wallets are the targets of unwanted screwing?

Wow that was bad :hilarious:

Gamestop has been diversifying their stores in the past coming years. They purchased ThinkGeek, they own and operate a few wireless retail stores and the Cricket Wireless company. ThinkGeek is probably their biggest lifeline. Although it has changed a bit since I shopped from them in the mid 2000s.

Looks like the rumors of one year timed exclusivity to PS4 might be true.

Our gamestop is in a town of about 12k. There are two excellent employees there that always take good care of me. I buy a game or 2 a year. Take the kids in for pop figures and collectables from time to time. I just purchased wolfenstein ll. I'm a Bethesda fan for sure. Play fallout 3, new Vegas, and 4 mostly. 3 is my by far my favorite. 4 was good but lacked.in the karma dept. I grew up in PC with Diablo and battle.net. Played several lifetimes on d2 when soj's were currency.

Cool to see we have a gamer community on the forums here.
