The Future of the Magic Eye Theater

Now that Captain EO is slated to close, I had an idea on what the Magic Eye Theater's future should be.
Instead of a Pixar Short Film Festival (which has NOTHING to do with EPCOT or the Imagination Pavilion, by the way), I think that the theater should just show all 3 of the previous films: Magic Journeys, Captain EO, and Honey, I Shrunk the Audience on an hourly rotation in the theater (From 9-10 Magic Journeys, from 10-11 Captain EO, etc.) We'd get the best of all 3 worlds!

That would be good, wouldn't it? But Disney probably has no interest in ever bringing back any of those three films ever again, and most guests hate them anyway at this point. That's the problem with the Magic Eye: by time the a movie has been running for long enough, the theater turns into a ghost town. It happened with EO, and it happened with HIStA. The short films, as much as a cop out as they are, should bring reliable traffic into the theater.

That said, there is still no excuse for Disney letting the pavilion in its entirety get as bad as it has gotten recently.

The Magic Eye Theater needs a full, ITTBAB-esque Inside Out 4D show, imo. That'd fit well, draw in people, be a good use for the theater, and have the potential to be very fun.

I'm just surprised they haven't evolved Figment to Disney Jr..Even his Educational Film "Would You Eat a Blue Potato?" Is in that kind of level of Edutainment and somehow work that to making a new 3D film for the theater..

How about an original, non IP or movie based attraction that would suit the park?

Oh.

That's not Disney! I want Disney at Disneyworld Big Ball park!

They should just sell the theatre as meeting space for groups looking to do extra big Powerpoint presentations.

Gotta quit looking at threads that have anything to do with EPCOT. It does nothing but reinforce my current "all hope is lost" feeling with regards to the park.

Something i have been wondering about and hopefully someone could shed light to is.....

Why does the theater screen have this odd cut angle on the top left? It's been there since HISTA and was wondering what was the reason.

Theming for HISTA. The onscreen institute ceiling had the same angle. It was continued into the theatre for added dimension.

They just didn't remove it for EO.

Now that I think about it, a Figment show on Disney Jr would fit so perfectly.

I like Marni's idea for a non-IP film that suits the theme of the pavilion.

Let's face it. Disney has to do serious re-thinking about the future of FUTURE WORLD in a "sorry we're not interested" era of corporate sponsorship. Of the eight pavilions, five are fine (even if they could use tweaks). One is closed. Two need complete makeovers.
