The Forgotten Kingdom?

Pumbas Nakasak

Heading for the great escape.
I enjoy the NK, but would like something fresh. I feel that Disney is more intent on pleasing families with young kids than me. Now whether thats because kiddy rides are cheaper to make and theres the prospect of flogging some tat from China Im unsure, but I think it is a factor.

It does need a new E ticket, the type I dont care about but it should be an addition, or actually a replacement for what was lost since our first visit. But I believe it should be built tpo allow breathing space to work on the other attractions and not have those operating swamped.

The MK is like the Classic Disney Park in wdw. Would it help if they added some rides? Yes but to me I Am fine with the Kingdom the way it is. Most of the other Disneys only have 1 or 2 parks. But we have 4. In my mind getting a ride at one of the other parks in FL is just as good.

Everyone acts as if MK has laid untouched by WDI for seventeen years, but we've seen capacity boosts in the form of Philharmagic, Buzz, Magic Carpets and MLF, being able to take more people than their predecessors. MK doesn't need big new attractions like the other parks do, and if anything, the refurbishment of several classic attractions is a chief example of good show.

Only in the same way that say, Phantom Menace is a better technical film than the original Star Wars. MK has 'the blessing of size' and utilidors etc., but Disneyland has the Walt factor, its long history, more E-Tickets and charm that can't match MK's spectacle. It's one thing to be awed, yet much more to be cosy.
OK, understood on the last part...

But the first? Capacity has not been boosted by those rides, it's either stayed the same, or made up for something else that closed. MLF is smaller than TK for instance, and Buzz is the same as IYHW and DF.

But was Timekeeper getting near-full audiences like MLF? Was it even open for most of the year? Same with Buzz, which is much more popular than Dreamflight or Philharmagic, a huge theatre compared to Lion King.

To boost capacity, you have to want people to go on the attractions, otherwise they just clog up the footpaths.

In 97-2000 I remember having to wait for it.

After TDO Made is seasonal and changed the marque after 9/11 is when it lost guests...Then again, that was when it needed an update, too.

Timekeeper hardly ever had a line. Most of the time you just had to wait until the next show started. Dreamflight while i loved it was almost always a walk on as well.

I've yet to wait in a true line for MILF as well. Sure I've waited while they emptied people out of the preshow, but never in a true queue.

Okay I know this thread could possibly open up some deep feelings for people, but I'd really like for this thread to stay civil. Here we go.

On the heels of the announcement that Hong Kong Disneyland will receive a half a billion dollar update, including 30 new attractions, two of which sound like complete home runs, I can't help but think of how forgotten the Magic Kingdom seems to be. Once these additions are completed, there is no doubt in my mind that the Magic Kingdom will be the worst Disneyland style park in the world.

It's been 17 years since the Magic Kingdom received a substantial addition, and since that time it has either only replaced rides, or lost them. Restaurants have been shuttered without replacement, and entertainment offerings have been cut. Fantasyland is falling apart at the seams, and many a classic attraction are in desperate need of TLC.

Space Mountain, a ride that should be treated as a true Disney E-ticket, is getting an underfunded, cut down refurbishment. It could have been made something special, instead it was kicked to the curb because the guests will come no matter what.

Sure, they have attempted to help the park. Haunted Mansion received a wonderful update. HoP got a nice refurb as well. But to me these are like putting band-aides on a stab wound.

The MK is a limping giant, and the Hong Kong expansion just sheds more light on this worrisome problem.

Some will claim, "But Little Mermaid is on the way!" And while I think it will help, even TLM won't save the MK from being low man on the totem pole.

Your thoughts? And please, keep it civil.

I agree with MOST of the things you say but I don't agree with your statement saying that it's the WORST. Way off with that one. I would never use the word worst while talking about any Disney parks.

I ranked it as the worst Disneyland style park in the world. No where did I say it was the worst park I've ever been in.

I'm poking my nose over here for the first time because I think this is another example of WDP&R reaching too far too fast. I would have preferred them getting the neglected parks pristine again, then opening up a new resort. Instead they keep playing catch up, with both their newer parks and the existing ones. This is why I'm completely against a 5th gate; the other four parks are enough to handle without adding another to the work load.

Just my opinion
