So they have confirmed that this was the last trailer for the movie. I amazing how little has actually be revealed in the trailers, and I am actually happy that they went this way.

Oh, yes, a lightsaber handguard. I'm sure that will be a HUGE plot point in the film.

its just a different style of light saber. I'm sure they've found a way to incorporate the cross guard feature into the fight choreography but ultimately they needed some new merchandise to sell and any new type of saber will sellout.

Makes sense. My conformation is clearly showing 12/17/2015 at 7:00 PM and I am pretty sure I live in Florida.

I think the official release date is still 12/18. It's just that theaters no longer do first showings at midnight or later anymore. So the early showings have gotten moved up to as early as 7pm the previous day, although later showings will stretch to after midnight -- just not the first one. The reason is primarily due to safety, security, and movie theaters in the news. The same reasons as not being able to wear masks.
