All the new stuff coming to DS makes me wish I it was this amazing before I had kids. I need a grown up only trip once it's up and running.
It was this amazing before you had kids. It was called Pleasure Island and it was full of amazing. It's been idle for almost 7 years. The Edison has all kinds of potential written all over it but we really don't know yet. The Indiana Jones bar looks like it will be a fun place to hang out at night. The Boathouse is already awesome as a restaurant but the nightlife (acoustic guitar players) is a yawn. So before you plan that grown up only trip, let's see what other surprises are coming our way. Because we need more than just this.

I went to Pleasure Island several times before I had kids and the only thing we liked was Adventure's Club. We are not dance club people and the Comedy place was too tame for us. We like bars with good food and quality drinks.

Before marriage and in college in the late 90's/early 2000's - my friends and I were those "dance club people" (cringe) - but it was fun. Mannequins had a cool design but the "Disney club-dancers" made it feel like it was a Solid Gold Disney-version for the 90's dance scene. One night it was like a Gap commercial. Compared to clubs and raves we were used to in MKE and Chicago - it was bubblegummy. We went twice for spring break and there were more creepy older men there than we were comfortable with. I'm glad they moved on to something better with Edison - more my speed now anyway.

We usually go down with family or friends and trade off one night watching kids so we can have an adult's night out - dressing up nice, dinner, drinks and all. If you don't have anyone with you there are sitter services - if you are ok with it. It can be done and it's awesome if you can get the chance. Adults need their magic kingdom too! :)

Guess you missed the time robin Williams did an impromptu 10 minute set while on vacation.

To be fair, so did I.

However "The Club?" Ahhhhh the Club. Met some of the most unique, interesting and NSFW people there. (Also And unrelated, @The Mom )

I guess I am in the minority, I never like Pleasure Island. I only went there twice. I just did not like the feel for the place, it felt to much like one big bar. Both times I went there where waiting lines to get into must of the clubs. I think I will like Disney Springs much more.

That is exactly what it was, yes.

The Edison LA has one; nothing for DTD was announced.

I would like there to be one too.

I don't think a dress code for a place in Disney will be too strict, but agree they need to enforce something. So no vests/sleeveless tops, no sports shorts that sort of thing. Maybe go as far as insisting on collared shirts, but still allow dress shorts?
