Oh god are you a Trekkie too? You just went up 5 more hot points in my book.

HAHAHA - Are you kidding!??! I love The Shat. :ROFLOL:

I've watched all the permutations over the years - all the different shows - and what I love most about Star Trek is that they have so much social insite (I'm trying to say it related so what is going on in the world at the time)...much deeper than people give it credit.

I am more of a Patrick Stewart fan but you are right about the show. I love how they make the problems of an alien race millions of light years away align with our own issues.

^^ And if anybody thinks that's a political post, you need to brush up on your Epcot history. Read about the public response to EPCOT Center in its early days.

***Shamelessly protects previous post to make sure it doesn't get moderated***
I do not think Epcot is designed to have a political agenda. After all Epcot is about the unity of nations, not the partisan in-fighting of one Nation. I will believe Epcot has a political agenda when I see Mccain/Palin 08 projected onto Spaceship Earth after Illuminations.

yes:lookaroun

It was a great class! It covered all the Star Treks except for Enterprise. I'm a TNG girl myself, but I love original and DS9 too. If you find it somewhere on eBay or elsewhere, I fully recommend you getting it Richard! :D

The book was actually called 'The Ethics of Star Trek' I believe. If I find it, I'll send it to you. :king:

Okay, since you're not in on the joke, I'll tell you.

When EPCOT Center opened in 1982, a common complaint from journalists who didn't "get it" was that "Epcot represents the future as imagined by Republicans."

Nobody here is suggesting the park actually has a political agenda.

I had heard that quote before and think thats crazy. I am a Democrat and I love Epcot.

I am an anti-democrat and I love EPCOT. I think the park must have outgrown the partisanshipness of it all. Take it from me (a hearless Libertarian)

The thread drift to end all thread drifts....

Yeah - supremely enjoyable.

Me? I reek of awesome.:D
