GOLD COAST (May 27, 2010) – Unveiled today in Australia, the GCLC released a new release explaining the details of the Fastpass system to be utilized at the Down Under Resort. The Fastpass system puts time on YOUR side! Enter designated attractions with a minimal wait by using the Fastpass system. It's free and it's easy.

Upon opening day of March 15, 2013; the Magic Kingdom, the only operating theme park on opening day, will feature 9 Fastpass attractions.

In Tomorrowland, Space Mountain and Star Tours will feature Fastpass. In Fantasyland, the Matterhorn Bobsleds and Pooh's Hunny Hunt will feature this feature. In Toontown, Roger Rabbit's Car Toon Spin will be the only attraction to feature Fastpass. In Frontierland, Big Thunder Mountain and Splash Mountain will feature this popular device. And finally, in Adventureland, the Haunted Mansion and Pirates Of The Caribbean will be the last attractions to feature it on opening day.

In order to use Fastpass, first, check the Fastpass and Standby wait times at the attraction entrance. If the standby wait time fits your park schedule, then enter the standby entrance at that time.

Enjoy other areas of the Park until the time period indicated on your Fastpass ticket. At your Fastpass time, return to the attraction and go directly to the Fastpass Entrance. It will soon be your turn to enjoy the attraction.

Please Note that the Fastpass ticket does not guarantee entry to an attraction. Each Fastpass ticket admits one Guest only. To get a Fastpass ticket, you must have your own Passport. Only one Fastpass ticket is issued at a time currently. After the start of your Fastpass time period, you may get your next Fastpass ticket. A Fastpass ticket cannot be issued for certain ticket media. Please consult a Cast Member. Lastly, Fastpass ticketing may be unavailable at times due to unforeseeable circumstances.

The Down Under Resort project was announced in November 2009 as a venture between The Walt Disney Company and the GCLC. Currently under reclamation by the GCLC, Disney is targeted to begin construction in early 2010 with the project scheduled to open in March 15th, 2013. The opening day program for the Down Under Resort will include a 15 million annual visitor Disneyland-style theme park, three hotels and retail, dining and entertainment uses. The project is estimated to create 25,000 new jobs at opening both Disney and other employment, growing to 40,000 once the first park reaches build-out. At the completion of Phase I, the project will include a 15 million annual visitor Disneyland-style theme park, 3,500 hotel rooms, and a giant district of retail, dining and entertainment.

Snow White's Spring Festival Press Release

Here's an amazing release containing a great interview or transcript of the whole conference.

Snow White's Spring Festival to start out entertainment season.

-- Magic Kingdom Park will feature the park's princess in her own show from March 27th to June 9th. –

GOLD COAST (May 30, 2011) – Unveiled today in Australia, the GCLC released a new release explaining the details of the first castle show, Snow White's Spring Festival, that will premiere after the Grand Opening Week which will soon be detailed. This show is expected to be under half an hour and feature the castle as a backdrop. Although the show does not officially open until March 27th, 2013; the show will be holding some previews during the official Grand Opening Week.

According to the GCLC, the show will feature 8 show scenes. The show scenes are in the following order: 1) Intro: "It's Spring!" 2)I'm Wishing 3) Dark Forest 4) Dwarfs 5) Spring 6) Magic Mirror/Apple 7) True Love's Kiss 8) Finale: "It's Spring Reprise". The GCLC released several pieces of art also. Among those is an overhead picture of the stage with details of the show and how it will be played out.

What follows is a transcript with the show's designer during the unveiling: "The show will begin with the scene as the courtyard infront of Snow White Castle. We will see some trees that will begin to bloom that would have risen from trap doors #1 in the attached drawing. The song written for this show "It's Spring!" will begin and it'll be a sortof overture to the show. We'll see Snow White rise out trap door #5 in the picture. She'll be working and then Mickey and the gang will appear from the giant platform #3. They will be wearing fancy royal type outfits and will explain a quick backstory of Snow White until the overture instrumental ends and the last verse of "It's Spring!" will be sung before the second show scene. The gang will sink with platform #3.

The second scene with Snow White and the Prince begins almost immediately as she gets up and begins singing "I'm Wishing" as a well rises from trap door #2. The prince will appear from one of the walkways that lead into the stage (the arrowed areas to the side on the front of the stage). He'll enter and see her with the Evil Queen glaring from the castle. Snow White will run and we'll then see a dark forest rise from platform #3 and trap doors #1 as the spring trees disappear. We'll see then the hunter take Snow White and she'll have a sortof scary adventure in the forest before she collapses in fear.

Next, we'll see a cottage setting with beautiful spring trees rise from platform #4. The Dark Forest will sink backstage. These trees will be very real such as those featured in Splash Mountain or Pooh's Hunny Hunt. From the cottage we'll see the dwarfs pour out and the'll explain how it's spring and they should be happy and they'll burst into the Silly Song displaying the joys of spring and the warm times they can have. Then they'll wander some doing spring time activities with instrumentals and dialogue and fianlly at the end, they'll all freeze on trap door #5. They'll begin to sink with the sets and we'll see a giant mirror rise from trap door #2 (the larger one, notice there's two).

The evil queen will appear from the wings (the arrowed hallways) and rush upto the mirrors and explain how she hates Snow White and do her famous "Mirror, Mirror on the wall, who's the fairest of them all?" and he'll reply "Why, the Princess Snow White!" She'll get enrages and we'll see smoke pour out from some vents all colors and potions and then we'll see dancers with Dark Forest tree costumes pour out from the wings and spider people will appear on webs from trap doors #1. She'll get on the Magic Mirror platform infront of it and she'll throw her hands in the air twice with some explosions and the third time smoke will rise before the smoke stops and BAM! The old hag will be there and she'll burst into her evil laugh. Over at DURE or "Down Under Resort Entertainment", we've perfected this effect to where we can get it in three seconds or less, this change. She simply falls through the smaller trap #2 without the audience noticing in three seconds or less. The effect must be seen to be believed!

Then she'll sing the original song "Magic Mirror" with dancing spiders and Dark Forest trees and finally the trees will surround her before she flings them off with the apple in hand and she'll point it straight at the audience and it her hag voice ask, "Do you want to eat? NO! Not you! Snow White! HAHAHA!" and with her evil laugh she'll sink right down through the amazingly fast small trap door with a small blast of smoke and light to cover her. It's truly an amazing effect.

We'll then see Snow White appear and see the apple laying there near trap door #2. The hag will be at the back of the stage behind the Dark Forest trees that have risen urging Snow White to have a bite and she'll fall into the sleeping death. The prince will appear with the lamenting dwarfs and he'll explain, how in spring it's wonderful and it's the beautiful and he'll kiss her and she'll awake before everyone rejoices and the beautiful forest set comes out again. The whole cast appears with dancers dressed as flowers and animals and they'll all go straight into the finale of the "It's Spring Reprise" and finally at the end of all this, she'll end up right behind the beautiful forest set on platform #3. Then on the last notes, the trees will drop a curtain of leaves covering them and then everyone will pause for applause. Then the animals and everyone will quickly get on platform #3 after Snow White has left and they'll sink below the stage along with the set and everyone else.

This show does not have a ticketing system, as it is first come, first seat. There will be no true seats, but just on the ground. We will be using a ticketing system for future events. Also, guests will not be allowed to hold spots until 1 hour before showtime. I think this will be a grand way to continue the events after the Grand Opening and Grand Opening Week."

That transcript provided many details and certianly offered us a great inside look inside the DURE creative process. The show runs from March 27th, 2013 to June 9th, 2013 at the Castle Forecourt Stage infront of Snow White Castle.

Well, you know, I would start this up and take it to where it was planned (the 50th Anniversary, on a side note, I'm upto about the 40th or so), but then my harddrive with all of my work refuses to boot up. I still have the files, but I can't get to them, and I don't feel like starting over.

Hopefully really soon, I'll have access to them again. My friend FigmentDream does have a partial file which I'm probably going to have to ask him for to possibly keep up with a few small and sparse updates sadly. I wish this project hadn't died because I put so much time and research into it and hopefully it'll keep going, but we'll see. It was crazy how much I lost (but it's still here). - The WeirdOne :(

Walt Disney Music Hall Announced...

Here's the press release that came out of Australia today regarding a sneak peak into the Walt Disney Music Hall and surrounding complex.

Disney Imagineers provide news and details regarding the Walt Disney Music Hall.

-- Down Under Resort will feature a $7 billion dollar Walt Disney Music Hall and surrounding complex. –

GOLD COAST (November 29, 2010) – Walt Disney Imagineering (WDI) executives unveiled today the creative design behind the Walt Disney Music Hall Complex inside the theme park destination resort planned for the Gold Coast. The press briefing is the newest in a series where Disney will unveil the creative design for the Down Under Resort targeted to open on March 15th, 2013; since the information seal-up after the initial announcements.

The Down Under Resort will be the sixth Disney resort in the world and the first to combine the greatest ideas from every resort. It will be made up of themed lands evoking their own unique spirit of fantasy, excitement and adventure. Disney Imagineers, Brian DeLoera, vice president and executive producer in charge of the Down Under Resort and Mr. Jake, executive designer in charge of imagineering the Magic Kingdom, revealed several conceptual renderings and storyboards from the grandest music hall to open in the world.

The Walt Disney Music Hall

This grand theater, set to open on March 16, 2013: the day after the inital resort opening will host a grand gala of events and will contain much more than just the world's most state of the art theater. It will contain several theaters, the grandest being the Walt Disney Music Hall.

The Music Hall, $3 billion dollars of the $7 billion dollar price tag will be shaped to look like a grand old theater on 42nd Street. From the moment one gazes upon the beautiful façade of an ornate 1930's theater, and walks through the doors into the lobby, they will instantly be transported into what seems like a new world. The lobby will be grand and huge decorated with a fitting tribute to Walt Disney.

The house with seating and all will be a grand total of three seating levels and one ground level, modeled much like the New Amsterdam in New York, but almost 4 times as big! The curtain is hand sewn by Disney Imagineers and weighs in at a grand total of more than 7 tons. By far, the most amazing feature, available at the Roy Disney Concert Hall also, is the ability to transform the seating into any arrangement along the three sides of the theater thanks to the most amazing device built for this purpose. Want your whole show to be seen from a certian perspective, your are welcome to just by pressing a few buttons. Right before the audiences eyes, and right under their seats, a gaint mechanism will change the theater from a straight procenium theater, to shift the seats left, right, up, down, and almost any arragement is possible.

Behind that curtain is the most advanced stage of the time. The stage will be made up of 100 individual cubes. These cubes (modeled after the theater built in Germany for Disney's Hunchback of Notre Dame) will ride very high or can sink very low, they can even tilt and may be projected upon. The cubes are failproof thanks to a brand new system designed for the German theater which the stage was modeled after. There is a several million dollar lighting system consisting of over 1,500 individual light pieces avaliable to the artist designing the show. The stage has the biggest wings, 6 huge makeup rooms, 7 costume studios, comfortable backstage facilites for the theater and can safely accomodate 3 full sized shows in the fly system, wings, costume studios and makeup rooms. The sound system is designed to bring crisp and clear sound to everyone. The orchestra has a great pit, but it's under the actual stage, but far enough to avoid your view and so the actors can see them. The first show to open inside this brand new theater is "Oklahoma!". The theater seats 2125 patrons nightly.

The Roy Disney Concert Hall

This smaller venue is perfect for travelling productions or even theater evens that are not to the scale of the Walt Disney Concert Hall. This magical theater will boast an industrial design. From the moment one reaches the grand glass façade, they will be impressed and simply awwed. The Roy Disney Concert Hall also is home to the Walt Disney Orchestra that performs all of the Down Under Resort's music for the themeparks, cruise ships and other event. Performances are sceduled for various times. This part of the complex was an additional $2 billion.

The hall will also contain a giant lobby which will be a glass atrium filled with blooming flowers and plants and be a living breathing winter garden. There are even glass cages containing native birds and even some of the famous birds around the world. Don't worry, they can't stain that suit!

There are 2 levels of seating at the Roy Disney Concert Hall and one ground level section. The stage is technologically advanced, taking a direct copy of the German stage built for the production of Disney's Hunchback of Notre Dame. This concert hall boasts another of Disney's beautiful curtains and is sure to lack anything that makes it steril. The stage can safely accomodate 4 shows in one day and the theater is build in such a way that when a concert is scedules, the theater is transformed magically (even possible with the audience in their seats) into a concert venue with the orchestra as the centerpiece. This can take upto 15 minutes depending on the arragement and can be suited to the performer's needs. The concert hall contains several rehearsal spaces, 8 make-up rooms, a huge wing space, and a fly that can safely hold 2 to 3 touring productions. This theater will present it's first production, a Walt Disney tribute called "One Man's Dream" by the Walt Disney Orchestra on March 17th, 2013; two days after the grand opening of the Down Under Resort. The theater holds a capacity of 1,771 patrons per performance.

Other Major Areas

The Music Hall Complex will also contai a beautiful park connecting the two facilities, a children's theater called "The Mary Blair Children's Theater" which will be outdoors and shaped like a Greek ampitheater. The first production is "Hanzel And Gretel" and the theater seats approximately 400 children or families. The complex will contain the "Sheet Music Bistro", which people may dine in before their show. The restaurant will be one of the finest on property. For those who perfer faster foods or something easier on the budget, the complex will also have the "Conductor's Court", a nice charming outdoor and indoor cafe/restaurant.

The complex will also be home to a variety of performing troupes and can dually function as a convention center for smaller events. Events that are much larger than 2,000 people will be held in the "Disneyland Hotel Convention Center". The complex will also have various acts out before performances, a hall for greeting the performers, a huge rehearsal hall for the performer's use, and is within great distance of any repair centers or other features needed.

The Down Under Resort project was announced in November 2009 as a venture between The Walt Disney Company and the GCLC. With the completion of reclamation for the Down Under Resort Phase I by the GCLC, Disney has begun construction in with the project scheduled to open on March 15, 2013 with no delays. The Australian governement estimated that the first phase of the project will generate a present economic value of AU$148 billion (US$19 billion) in benefits to the Gold Coast district over a 10-year period.

WOW! Really amazing right. I'm sceduled to place drawings, etc as soon as I can. I hope this looks to be a success for everyone. I certainly can't wait!

Walt Disney Music Hall Complex Fact Sheet:

SITE DESCRIPTION:
  • Walt Disney Music Hall is is situated on 7.0 acres. Walt Disney Music Hall Complex encompasses one outdoor amphitheater, including the Mary Blair Children's Theater, as well as a space for pre-concert events. A large portion of the site has been dedicated to an urban park with expansive public gardens and ornamental landscaping and water elements designed by Walt Disney Imagineering.

SEATING CAPACITY:
  • 4296 seats total

COST:
  • $7 billion

ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN:
  • Designed by internationally renowned architects, Walt Disney Imagineering, the 7 acre Concert Hall Complex features a modern, steel exterior and a grand 30's era broadway theater designed to look like a theater on 42nd street. The centerpiece of the Music Hall Complex, a 2,125-seat auditorium with natural-like artifical lighting in which the audience surrounds the orchestra, was designed to look and feel like a real theater in the roaring 30's. The auditorium's beautiful domed ceiling is meant to evoke the feeling of grandeur. The "domed" shape of the Hall with its curved ceiling is designed to retain the superb acoustical characteristics of a traditional "shoebox" style concert hall.
  • Audience members sit in a traditional theater style seating which can be rearranged, even while the audience is sitting in their seats.
  • An extensive backstage technical area, which surrounds the Hall, provides state-of-the-art space for a choral rehearsal hall and other rehearsal areas, as well as a music library, reading room and storage specifically designed for the Walt Disney Orchestra's instruments.

ACOUSTICS:
  • To design the interior of the Hall with an acoustical quality intended to surpass the best concert halls in the world and to plan for the installation of a stunning 6,125-pipe organ in its main auditorium incase the Roy Disney Concert Hall wasn't need, but the Walt Disney Music Hall was, Imagineering collaborated with world-renowned acoustic expert Yasuhisa Toyota from Nagata Acoustics. The organ can be moved from theater to theater based on need. The dome-like curves of the ceiling and flow of the interior walls improve the acoustics by scattering the sound and producing more reflections. The Hall went through a rigorous series of tests, the last of which was conducted on a model that was one-tenth the size of the actual Hall. Sound impulses at 10 times the normal frequency were used to verify the final shaping of the walls and ceiling, as well as for tuning the Hall's reverberation by the placement of absorbent material.

The Down Under Resort will join the many current Gold Coast theme parks and will be scheduled to be completed on March 15, 2013.

So, what does everyone think? Sound amazing. I'll hopefully get renderings up soon. I can't wait for opinions. I did the most extensive research on this so, I hope everyone comments. Renderings coming soon I hope. - The WeirdOne :D
