The Disney disapointment

Why do they always come to this site to vent? I haven't seen these lengthy complaints on other Disney fan sites. Do they think we can actually do something about it? Or are they, as some suggested, merely trolls who want to disillusion us about something we love?

I ama current cast member and I am disappointed in my Disney experience. Ever since I can remember Disney stood for quality. It wasn't just a vacation it was Disney . We went every year there was something for everyone. Last year I moved to Florida and the first place I got a job was wdw. In my head I thought this was awesome . I quickly found out this was not the same place it was in 1997. For starters Disney did no background check. I worked in attractions and everybody was miserable. The pay was 8.50 full time . I couldn't even eat or get gas to get to work. No castmembers were smiling . If they smiled at all it was the fake if I don't smile I'll get fired.I met cast members who lived in their cars. I saw Disney college program students whose hearts were broken . I kept thinking maybe its me what's wrong with me . Then I decided to use my free pass and go visit the parks. Most of the parks were dirty which used to be a Disney sin. Some of the lines at attractions were walkons. Never on vacation with my family was I not waiting in line. Then there were the lines that tookhrs and by the time you got there all my favorite Disney animatronics and classic scenes were replaced by movie screens that you ride past. Either that or they'd throw modern Disney like jack sparrow in pirates of the carribean .To me modern Disney cheapens the experience. Disney pretty much ignores any animated films before toy story. Which is made even more apparent when you meet former animators who are toiling in their new positions in merchandise or quick service. Disney used tone creative enough to make their own story. Now they just wheel a bunch of money up to George Lucas and Steven Spielberg's door , steal their creation and call it there own. Its disappointing. I cant be the only one who notices that Disney is now on the level of six flags in quality. The purpose of Disney was to be a place for all ages where anyone could find sometihing they like. All they care about now is greed power and numbers...so sad. Sorry Walt ABC is killing your dream and our memories.
Been perusing the employment forum, I see....

(sigh.....) Mike3, I hope you can find some joy in your life. I am looking forward to returning to Disney in May. I know I will not be disappointed since I don't expect to duplicate the experiences we had on our first visit. I, too, have walked on some attractions, ie., RnRC, but at other times have experienced a 60 min. wait for the very same attraction! Really, you do yourself and Disney NO favor by continuing your employment as a CM. BTW, at which attraction can you be found?

And the point of this rant would be...? If you hate it your job so much, quit! It's not as if Disney is holding you hostage. By remaining employed and being so "disillusioned" and "unhappy", you are perpetuating the issues you are complaining about (e.g. fake smiling). Disney certainly is by no means a model employer but it was listed as #58 on Forbes list of America's Best Employers List (http://www.forbes.com/best-employers/list/#tab:rank). As @CaptainAmerica pointed out, go work somewhere else.

Mike...
I too worked for Disney World. I was in awe of the place and had great respect for the company. I left my role in 1999...I made a trip back in 2000, wasn't bad, just like I remembered. I went back in 2013, expecting everything to be the same as it was in 1999! I was disappointed and vowed NEVER to go back again! But you know what happened in 2 weeks after returning from that disappointing trip? I was planning my next trip! THAT'S the magic that is Disney. It's the anticipation of planning, watching videos of what you want to do when you get there. But the one lesson I learned was that you cannot expect things to be the same as your remember them to be. Change is essential to moving forward. Sometimes we personally don't like the changes, but we are only but one person amongst many Disney fans who enjoy the changes. So at 50 yrs old, I am cannot wait to go back to Disney World and see all the new changes that are happening for future generations. Your kids may enjoy Disney as much as you did when you were their age, but they are enjoying the rides and attractions that are current for them! There are so many new things that are happening for the good at Disney World that you have to sometimes step back and look at a broader picture...what once was popular in our growing years is different than what the younger generation wants. We have to adapt. Adapting, growing, and learning!
So don't give Disney World the heave ho, just look at it from the younger generation's point and hopefully it will open you up to see all the good and drastic changes that is coming for YOUR ENJOYMENT!!!!!
