I think Batman Forever is a very underrated film. It was a complete departue from the Burton duo, but that was sort of the point. To me, the first 3 Batman's were all fantastic and of course Batman and Robin was a disgrace, but it was interesting to learn more about it on its newer DVD commentary. WB wanted it to be much more for kids...and that's what they got. Be careful what you ask for.

Batman Begins was one of my all time favorite comic book films and I expect TDK to be up there with the best of them.

In all honesty, I think Forever is the worst movie of the old franchise ( but Batman and Robin is just about as bad ). Speaking of which, they're making a Rifftrax for B&R. Can't wait! :sohappy:

I loved his on the Animated series. But I have to say that the all-time greatest appearance for The Riddler was when he made a guest shot in the old "Impulse" comics.

Riddler: "I have hidden a bomb under the front porch of a house somewhere in the city. I will tell you the location in Riddle form..."

*Impulse disappears for a moment. Reappears with a bomb in his hand.*

Impulse: "Is this it?"

Riddler: "Why you! How did you find that so quickly?"

Impulse: "I just ran and checked all the houses until I found it."

Riddler: "Well... ah... I have hidden a second bomb in another location and I will..."

*Impulse takes off. Returns with another bomb in his hand.*

Impulse: "This one?"

Riddler: "How?"

Impulse: "Oh, I found that one while I was looking for the first one. But it wasn't under a house."

LOL Impulse was such a great comic. Very well written and great art style in it. Sadly they recently killed the character off in the Flash comics.

You know, I really want to read this issue now! LOL

I disagree with your opinion in some cases concerning Carey's portrayal of the Riddler.

I hated the storyline surrounding the Riddler and everything that had to do with WHY the Riddler was who he was...but...at the same time, I thought that Jim Carey played the part to perfection.

Now, I don't feel Jim Carey's version of the Riddler would fit well with this series...but I do think he played an excellent Riddler.

I totally agree with you. I didnt think forever was all that great but the one shining part of the movie was careys portrayal as the riddler. Its too bad carey played him back then because with nolan at the helm I think he could have been even better. Especially with the darker nature of the films.

My three favorites out of the ones that I read had been, in no real order:

I think #16 or somewhere close to that, where Zatanna makes a guest appearance. I just love Zatanna.

The one with Riddler that I previously mentioned.

And Impulse #50 with the cover "Impulse: Agent of the Bat?" Where Impulse ends up "helping" Batman beat The Joker.

Zatanna is the ultimate filler. Every one of the Zatanna stories is good. She pops in great everywhere.

Just to bring back this thread with some very depressing news....

I'm sure you all know what it is. It concerns our Joker. Looks like this may be his one and only film.

28 years old....oi.
Literally, a year ago, I would have been like "who gives a crap". But for some reason, especially since I've spend more time online with the Joker in the past few months, this really hits home hard.

Normally it would be "stupid celebs and their crazy lifestyles". I don't feel like this at all in this situation. Weird huh. I've kinda been in a sad funk all week with this.

Poor guy. And his poor family.

I've never thought much of ANYTHING he's done as an actor. I've just seen him as one of those "that guy" kind of actors. One that just kind of plays themself in everything (Knight Tale was all kinds of wheels off wackyness). But this really allowed him to expose himself.

I hope he's good enough to earn a courtesy Oscar nod next year.

Jimbo, I know what you mean man...

This isn't a death to someone with a lifestyle like Britney, Lindsay, or Paris. This was truly an accidental death that could've been caused by someone just getting into his work a little too much.

I was reading online about the circumstances with taking all 6 of those pills at the same time and it seemed as if you could "overdose" fairly easy with them. It's not as much the quantity of the pills that need to be taken, but just taking one or two more of each is enough because all 6 pills affect the brain directly.

Granted, we won't know everything until the autopsy is complete...but this just seems like a horrible horrible accident!

Riddler is good, though I wasn't too crazy with Jim Carrey's performance of him in Batman Forever. The way they wrote Riddler in the Batman Animated Series was good, as well as how Jeph Loeb wrote him in Batman: Hush. He had the Riddler figure out Batman's identity. Of course, in true comic book form, he wound up getting amnesia and forgot. He has since reformed and opened his own detective agency and works the same case as Batman at times, getting in his way.

How can you say this wasn't good?

"Riddle me this...Riddle me that...who's afraid of the big....black......bat?"

The Zatanna issue was good, I like her as well.
Have you ever read the Zatanna one shot Paul Dini wrote? It's really good.

Latest updates are saying possible heart attack and not related to OD on the pills....

Very great they put up a memorial... but really thought it might be a bit more impressive, I could think of sooo many ways to design that better... but still... glad to see the dedication... I am still in shock. He was amazing.
A possible heart attack not associated with OD?
There is such strangeness shrouding his death.
I read a quote from Michelle Williams saying she was heartbroken and that their daughter is the spitting image of him, and it is very very hard.
Poor thing... just such a sad loss.

LOL I don't know, the film just didn't do it for me. But, it might have been because the first 2, especially Batman Returns were so pure Tim Burton, and then to go from Burton to Shumacher, it was like withdrawl for me.

Still, there are moments in Batman Forever that I really do like, same with the awful Batman and Robin, though I despise that film, there were parts I did like.

Frank Gorshin was a pretty cool Riddler though from the Adam West show, as well, John Astin (Gomez Adams) who played him once.

We were in the Sharper Image and the storefront had a batsuit in the window. I said to my fiance, "Hey, that's the suit from Batman & Robin" She said, "How do you know that from all the way back here?" I said, "Easy, Batnipples!" (Needless to say, she believed me after we read the placard under it that said, "Batman & Robin"

I sure hope one of the things about Batman and Robin that you liked wasn't...Batskates.

Ugh, Batskates. That was just as bad as when Batman slides down the dinosaurs back like Fred Flinstone The first time I saw that I was like, "What the?"
