The Dark Knight watch thread...

I really like the marketing they've been doing for this film. It's so out there, yet, so low key that many people don't even know about it.

I can't wait for this movie to come out, it looks so amazing.

I haven't read this thread that closely, so please forgive me if this is something that has already been discussed...

What do you think about viewing this movie in IMAX?

This movie comes out the weekend of my birthday. Some friends and I were thinking about seeing it in an IMAX theater, but I don't think I've ever seen a regular movie in an IMAX theater before--only those filmed ESPECIALLY FOR IMAX. Will the picture still be good quality, or will it looked stretched or warped by being on the large screen?

I read that several parts in the movie WERE shot with IMAX cameras. Will the transition between that and the regular shots be odd?

I thought it was actually all filmed in IMAX?

Nope, just one or two scenes. The indroduction of Joker is filmed in IMAX for sure, but not the entire film.
Yeah.
So, do you think the IMAX would make for a good viewing? Or would we be better off in a regular theater? How would the rest of the movie, not filmed in IMAX, be if we went the IMAX route?

Yeah.

As far as I know, no other feature film has ever even shot a single scene with IMAX cameras...The Dark Knight is the first. So if you have seen a feature film in an IMAX theater and enjoyed it, then there isn't any reason you wouldn't enjoy seeing The Dark Knight in IMAX, which is what I plan to do. I always sit as far back as I can (which is funny, because I ususaly get as close as I can in a regular theater) and really enjoy most of the non-IMAX shot films I have seen in an IMAX theater. LOL, so I guess the answer to your question is "yes, I think it would be worth seeing in IMAX'.

By the way, there are 6 scenes in The Dark Knight that are shot with IMAX cameras (more than I thought).

Here is a really good 4 page article.

I can't wait for this movie. I was just watching a trailer for it today. I love how the Joker looks. I'm really interested to see how Two-Face looks.

As much as I enjoy Batman and Batman Returns from Tim Burton, I really see Batman Begins and now this as the definitive Batman films.

Like everyone else, I CAN'T WAIT for this movie!!!!! Everytime we see the trailer it's like OMG!!!!

We (my friends and I) wonder if they will incorporate one of the best movie lines ever (from Original Burton Batman) "Have you ever danced with the devil in the pale moonlight?" into the new one. I doubt it...but it would be awesome if they did!

Ah! Thank you for your input.
As far as the bolded part above, I mentioned that I have never seen a feature film in an IMAX theater (I've only seen made-for IMAX movies that are shown at museums, aquariums and such) so I was pretty clueless.
Thanks again!

Yeah, I saw that after I typed my response...sorry. :hammer:

A non-IMAX shot film on an IMAX screen is ovioulsy not as ggod as one that is shot on IMAX, but it is still better than seeing it in a regular theater. It is far clearer and brighter and sounds much better, too. Just try to get the last row, if possible. I made the mistake of sitting in the middle for Spider-Man 2 and there was so much movement on screen I couldn't follow anything at all. It was discouraging, to say the least.

I don't think they will include that line from the 1989 Batman film since they are going with their own take on this. But, I really like the 89 movie, still looks good after all this time.

They won't have that line but from what I hear there is an amusing line where the Joker says to Batman "I don't want to kill you. You complete me!".

Here's to hoping the series will live its full life without any dissapointing sequals. Hopefully nothing like Spiderman 3. Its really inconcievable how badly they messed up Spiderman 3. :brick: Let's hope this doesn't happen to batman though!

Oh man, how do you make Spider-man 2 rock so good and then make 3 so bad? I just don't get it, that movie is just so bad.

I think we will be OK with the Batman franchise with Nolan doing it. When his contract runs out is when we need to worry honeslty. Who knows what the suits at Warner Bros. will do.

I'd like to see a quality Green Lantern and Flash movie made one day, but not at the expense of the characters. I hope they learn from Batman Begins.
