What's going on here?!?!

Although this isn't exactly appropriate for News/Rumors, the D-Troops website HAS been open since January 4th. Check my signature for the link.

Miss the boat?

Oops, I must have missed the monorail. Thanks, it looks like a great site!

As for questions about my signature, I apologize if it was against the rules because I named people, and I'm also sorry if it "tricked" people into thinking it was a Disney site. The signature originally said "PETA Website" but than I changed it, forgetting why I wrote that. I'll change it now.

Anyway, since we ended up on the topic, why the heck do I have that signature anyway? The purpose of most of PETA's and other animal rights organizations' work against the meat industry is only to improve the treatment of animals, not to stop meat production. So far, we have been almost MAGICALLY successful! The entire industry has taken steps to reduce the suffering of animals, thanks to animal advocates' pressure. To continue this success, more people must choose to stop supporting the industry, and thus keep on the pressure. (Description of treatment follows.)

Chickens, for example, are kept in cages so small that they would scratch and peck each other to death under the stress, so instead, farmers slice their sensitive beaks off with a hot blade, but many die of shock or starve when eating becomes too painful. This is just one example of the animal cruelty, but eating meat also increases your risk of heart disease by nearly ten times, and cancer by 60%. It also adds to the risk of diabetes, authritis, food poisoning, dementia, and even impotence, not to mention that it contributes to acne.

For more information, just click here for a TOTALLY FREE "Vegetarian Starter Kit." It's astounding information, and why not? It's free! Plus, look at all the great vegetarian food at WDW! Even Michael Eisner is vegetarian! (no joke) Thanks, everyone!

You lost all credibility with those statements.

Of course the information presented is pro-vegetarian! That's the point! But it's health related as opposed to animal-rights related (except for the last link, which is PETA because I couldn't find the other one). Also, the sources for the information given are provided at the end of each page, so you can always check that information, too.

Anyway, remember that I am by no means interested in forcing people into their food chioces. If you don't want to reduce your meat consumption, it's 100% OK for you to enjoy all of the meat you like. My concern is in reducing the suffering of animals by pressuring the industry to make reforms, and it is working! The conditions are being improved!

Also, because I now know about the issue, it is important to me to let more people know that decreased meat consumption (not even vegetarianism) can prevent serious diseases and other painful health conditions- the main reason so many people are now becoming vegetarian. There is a high rate of cancer in my mother's side of my family, and, having seen people suffer from it firsthand, I want to reduce that type of suffering for others.

Again, to order a totally FREE and awesome "Vegetarian Starter Kit" with some very interesting information, just visit VegetarianStarterKit.com

Interesting that your so-called fact sites are anti-meat and pro-veg sites. Sorry, not impressed.

Darn, you beat me wannab@dis! Both the PCRM and The Cancer Project are run by Neal Barnard, M.D. (who also runs PETA). These organizations are fronts for PETA. The links you posted provide mostly disinformation PhilosophyMagic and you are pressing a political agenda.

Just to avoid confusion, Neal Bernard does not run PETA or any other animal protection organization. The co-founder (with Alex Pachao) and president of PETA is Ingrid Newkirk.

Claims that PCRM (Dr. Bernard's organization) is related to PETA are based on the fact that the two organizations have worked on the same projects because they share a common goal: to promote vegetarianism. PCRM is totally unrelated to PETA in all other ways. It is made up of hundreds of doctors from around the world, including several well-known and highly respected ones like Andrew Wiel. Even the famous Dr. Benjamin Spock (no relation to the other Spock) wrote in his extremely famous book "Baby and Child Care" that he would recommend veganism. Why? Because it really is healthy. Again, even though I advocate it, I do not believe you are obligated to become vegetarian, and I have no intention of trying to force it. However, I'm always happy to help if you have questions. Trivia: Michael Eisner is supposedly vegetarian, but I'm sure it's only for health reasons.

Let's really avoid some confusion!

It's a shame that you view the PCRM as a legitimate organization. Neal Barnard, M.D. is a psychiatrist. He has no training or background in food, diet or nutrition and has been repeatedly discredited by the press and medical community at large. The rest of the PCRM group has far less in the way of credentials. You seem to have been unwittingly duped by these charlatans.

The PETA Foundation is a project of PETA president Ingrid Newkirk and the Physicians Committee's Neal Barnard. In addition to being a money funnel between PETA and other animal-rights groups, the foundation pays the mortgage on PETA's Norfolk, VA offices. http://www.activistcash.com/foundation.cfm/did/106

I think PETA tends to shoot itself in the foot a lot. Too radical and in-your-face for most people. But, that's just my opinion.

Sooooooo, how bout them D-Troops?

I'd rather talk about meat... and meat based products ... than that other site. :p :p
