If you have ever been on the monorail, then I'm sure you have seen that huge big piece of crap :hurl: of a building hotel JUST before you get to the Magic Kingdom. Its the hotel which is NUMBER ONE in my book, that needs a HUGE renovation, because it is OLD, falling apart, and just plain UGLY to look at...I'm sorry but in all honesty that hotel needs to be gutted, and replaced with a REAL "CONTEMPORARY" resort and spa...comments?:lookaroun

Have any of you actually stayed in a Contemporary room, I did in August 2001, and the rooms looked pretty darn new, and the Contemporary does have the best accomadations in WDW.........If I was rich, I would stay every trip in the Contemporary, but I'm not so I can't, but I would........

Wow, being from New Jersey it is refreshing to see another state being talked about in this way for once ;) .

As for the Contemporary, I only stayed there once in the summer of 1972. Back then it was awesome. Since that was my very first WDW trip the hotel will always have a special place in my heart. It isn't my favorite hotel but it is just as much a part of WDW as Cinderella's castle for me.

Don't bash Michigan too much.... OK, maybe you can, since I do all the time and I live here.

I have stayed at the Contemporary every year for the last 5 years, and love it. I stayed the first time in 1975, and have since rediscovered this fantastic resort. The outside is very dated, but the rooms are huge, with great interior design. Also the lobby area is very spacious and very "retro-contemporary", which is definitely not the style here in traditional Michigan. The shops and restaurants are very well laid out in the Grand Canyon Concourse. It is a very bright, festive interior which is a lot of fun. Plus, it has the most convenient monorail stop in WDW, and a 10 minute walk to the main gate of the MK. I have a lot of trouble even trying to stay someplace else, since this resort is "Disney" to me and my family.

Of course, this is just my opinion, which you are more than welcome to disagree with,

I just get a little fired up when someone attacks my favorite hotel, so I saw someone attack the inteior and took it for the majority.......the place means a lot to me, and I don't think it's even close to being outdated.......

No malice intended. Just a joke from someone who gets enough of them for living in New York.

The Contemporary is a little out dated. The monorail is just fine, except it needs a few more additions to make it look more futuristic. The Lobby needs flat screen TV's, and a computer in every room.

Okay, calm down. Different Folks; Different Strokes. Just cuz someone doesn't like your favorite resort doesn't mean it's not an amazing resort.

I have posted twice on this topic (twice more than i usually post) and have been for a renovation. Though I think the hotel is amazing...I dont think its upto where it could/should be. I have never stayed there but I go there several times every year to eat or for misc. reasons. The hotel just doesn't seem appealing to newcomers.

From what I understand, almost every person defending the resort all stay there and have sentimental ties.

We all know that's not good enough for Disney. There are many things I love at WDW and I'll be willing to admit they need to be changed to some degree. People need to think with their heads and not with their hearts. Don't confuse Public Interest with Personal Interest.

I think the resort needs an update. I don't think they have to do anything major, but if it wants to remain "Contemporary" they need to do something.

Hmm, well the Polynesian and the Grand Floridian are both potential candidates but if the monorail did go through either of these hotel buildings it would definately make the nightly news.

I personally don't think that the Contemporary looks dated (just very familiar). I do think the lobby could have a better selection of shops. I would love to stay there again but we usually stay at my parent's DVC room (free lodging is good) and when we don't stay there we would probably end up at the Poly or the Beach Club (love the atmosphere) or PO if we are being good and saving money (I personally prefer the French Quarter - did that ever reopen?).

Well first of all I am not the only person here that doesn't agree with you but you still seem to want to attack me personaly, If you need to feel that important go ahead, youll find yourself out the door soon enough. as for your comments, take your own advice, if you don't like what I have to say dont you dare call my statements rude, I think you need a little dose of who's being rude here. I'l give you a hint , look in the mirror. you don't even know me and you have the gall to cast aspersions on me, I dont think so. And to end the argument since you have admitted that you have never even been in the Contempoary you are ther last person to be commenting on the fact that it needs to be torn down, like I said in an eariler post you don't know what you speak of here and will get the same from others if you continue to post on things that you have no clue about,

oh and another thing, what was it I said that was rude?. was it the fact that I disagreed with you?

also what is this molecular thing your talking about?

second what statements were false ?

If you are going to make statements like this be able to back them up with evidence or examples or don't make flame bait ot it will come back to bite you.

First of all the guys name is Bob Villia, and second if you make statements you should be prepared to back up you opinion with some facts and not an annoying opinion you cant even back up

Obviously the person who originated this thread has no idea the realm of architecture. The STYLE of the hotel cannot be changed. If the Contemporary was designed and built today, yes it would look a lot different, howerver it was made a while ago. Perhaps, it may need so upkeep like paint and pressure cleaning but you can get everything at one time. The castle was just donr and boy that looks great. And, the paint is not grey...it is more of a tan. I was in the hotel in August and it looked great.......the glass on the a-frame area was very clean......in all...the hotel is an icon as stated before...........Leave it alone! (except keep it clean)

Anyways moving on...YES i live in Michigan...Do you have a problem with that? I bet I have been to Disney 10 times more then you...Not that it matters...I also have relatives that used to LIVE in Orlando, now they are in Tampa...AND I also have relatives who live in Miami, which is VERY convenient when we take Cruise Vacations...please refrain from judging others for you don't know me, and NEVER will.
