A Disney vacation means never sleeping in. ;) :hilarious: Good luck!
Agree to disagree on that one...

My DD and I slept while my DS got up at like 4am to uber to Swan and walk to the studios the weekend it opened. (hours different then)
I bribed a housekeeper to clean the room very early, she finished DS came back from studios went to bed, DD and I went to MK.

We use to power through the parks, open and closing most days. Now that were are there more frequently we've slowed it down and sleep somewhat later. Can't remember our last rope drop and I'm OK with that. My DD is a wiz at the APP, she understands how they are coded and getting additional FPs for most attractions isn't difficult for her. She even will book our FPs when she isn't even at WDW for us. :)

I do wonder if our later April trip for F&G will go. Now our airfare is covered under the cancellation rebook offer as is our hotel so we will be out nothing. Yesterday my DD and I thought about booking the $48 airfare to MCO and staying 2 nights, Friday and Saturday to see F&G just in case. We didn't. Good thing. :banghead: We can rebook, maybe F&G may still be around, wonder what staff will remain to maintain. Unfortunately if we must rebook April DS will not likely be meeting us there. :grumpy: Dang Virus. :cautious:

I was a bit iffy about the idea, but the more it sat in my mind (not seeing it), it seemed really cool. Pop is my favorite place to stay, and the kiddo and I enjoyed our last trip there.

How have you liked it?

I really do like it both as an attraction in itself and for park/resort hopping. I have yet to stay at a resort it is connected to as they are not my favorite resorts but would for Swan and Dolphin. Gondolas are generally the least stressful use of Disney transportation, no waiting for a bus or huge lines that don't move for monorails or awaiting a ferry. We had booked a room closest to the Rivera at the Caribbean to just walk to their Gondola or Rivera QS restaurant for our April trip but eventually was able to book the Coronado Preferred room for even less than the deal we had for Caribbean. If WDW reopens in time I'd still rather change to POR or FQ. I really really dislike the Caribbean, being the first moderate just when my son was born Disney made all its mega errors with that one.

I'm a bit fond of Carribean, though I know it's not well liked. It's cause I first took the kiddo there...

Memories.

It was my sons first onsite resort too. I'm not a fan of resorts that heavily rely on internal buses. I like the set up of POR & FQ. I don't know what they were thinking with the Coronado when they set it up so similar to the Caribbean after they designed better with the POR & FQ resorts. The Duh factor. Coronado is usually so cheap we will often tack on a few days at a moderate to our longer trips at a Deluxe. I flatly refused to be placed at a further back resort room at the Coronado twice last year and they reassigned us to buildings next to the new tower. Better. So for now at least we are at Coronado preferred rooms at Value resort price. Last time our flight was cancelled we went back to Disney as our rebooked flight wasn't until 26 hours later and booked Pop. Pop put is in an SUV and moved us to the Coronado. For a resort I don't care too much for I've stayed there a lot in the last 6 months.

Love the adjustments! 💘

This afternoon her boss told her to stay home tomorrow. Today 2 of the 3 monitors arrived at her apartment. They are both 27" each. Says the next will be 24 and that is beyond her laptop and docking station. Crazy. She said 2/3 of her department worked from home today and will again tomorrow. The 8th floor executives are still trying to figure out the logistics of shutting it all down, they have 3 towers in a row. Another bank of buildings next town over and then a massive campus about 20 minutes due west of her buildings. Lots of executives brainstorming.

Someone please explain this to me— PLEASE

Yesterday- “We’re not testing for coronavirus because the chances are too slim.”

Tonight-

Schools closed for a minimum of 3 weeks.
Sports all cancelled from youth up until at least April 15.
Gatherings cancelled.

All of this happened today late afternoon. My son’s school sent the email at 5:07pm

How did it flip this quickly???

Where can we find legit information to know wth is really going on??????

I think its more related to contain the panic.. paniced people act very stupidly.

I disagree. People with a decent IQ want facts and real information. We don't want to be told there are 15 people affected and it will be zero shortly and come April it will magically disappear. We crave people in power to be honest. To plan. To have testing available like those countries over the pond. When people have real information we do not panic. This has been displayed by our stock market. If you can't trust it will be zero shortly that is what happens. The truth is always a better road.

But this wasn't exactly about information.
It was a pretty hard 180 turn on decisions based on what was going on.
This was about controlling panic. People panic when they fear the unknown.
The rushes for toilet paper is a fine example of this panic.
By providing full blown control AND country wide tests.. it will diminish the fear and make people know that their government is doing something.

Maryland. PA may do the same according to someone I know who works for the education office.

On a school by school basis up here.

As for the colleges and universities -- just about all have suspended in-classroom classes, and opted for online for an extended period of time.

Oh, on another matter, other things are on temporary closure as well. Our community center is temporarily closed, because a number of seniors frequent it. Also, the artists group I belong to is suspended indefinitely -- but it's due to the fact that we meet monthly in a conference room -- that's in a senior living building complex. Management has cancelled all outside users of their facilities until further notice. :( (The reason we meet there is because they've never charged us for the room, as they like us. We always invite any of the senior residents to join us, if they want.)

Wonder if they will reimburse people for not being able to stay in the dorm and eating in the cafeteria's.

Even if your healthy (knock on wood) this closing everything is for this virus not to spread. How do they know, it won't spread after closing. They have no idea but this affects the elderly the most so therefore try to keep them in mind. Although the run on toilet paper doesn't keep them in mind.

I told my mom they said anyone over 60 is elderly and she fake cried and said I'm not elderly. :hilarious:

Well I guess none of us here are scientists, but I'm assuming that a lot of the social distancing has got to reduce the number of potential cases. The main concern is that children in particular can be carriers.

As for returning to "normal" I think all that will be done on a staggered basis in the future. None of us know what the updated plans are, and as much as the experts know, this is still uncharted territory. Guess we all just have to be flexible to change.

I like your mother's response to you!
