Poor baby I feel so bad for her, she always works so hard on all her work. Now onto the school WT* I can't believe you're not even getting any answers. Is it because it was upgraded to a pandemic? You should get your money back from the school!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sending pixie dust and frying pan
Thanks. I'm making one of her favorites for dinner tonight...hopefully that will pick her up a bit. But yes, she works so hard and she swears she knew that material in Math. It was on the Pythagorean Theorum and she said she had done all the homework, gotten all the right answers, did practice questions and got all those right, too, so she doesn't understand how she got such a low grade on her test. I told her she'll just have to ask her teacher to see her test next time she has math. There could be so many things...she forgot to answer some questions, she made a stupid mistake like plugging a number in the wrong place, her teacher got her mixed up with someone else and posted the wrong grade to her profile, the teacher counted wrong....so many possibilities. So I told her not to panic, but wait until she can look at the test and see what happened. And even if she DID get a 65% on this test, most of her class is failing math. The fact that she had a 98% average is AWESOME, and a 90% is still fantastic. 1/3 of her class is in danger of having to redo the year and not being able to continue with the dual immersion program. You have to have at least 55% to pass....her LOWEST grades are 70% (which is considered good here). The majority of her grades are above an 80%...she's at the top of her class academically. I'm super proud of her...but she's a perfectionist and wants the perfect scores.

I read an article today that the district administration made the decision to scrap all the international trips. It wasn't just E's school, but ALL schools in the district...like, 15 schools. But I don't get how they are keeping the schools open if they are so worried about the outbreak that they cancel a trip to the UK. The UK has 4 times the population of the Netherlands, and has fewer confirmed cases....they are safer there than they are here. So if they don't want to take the risk of sending them to the UK, why are they willing to take the risk of being at school? It doesn't make sense.

But a friend of mine in Northern Ireland said (and I looked it up, because that's what I do) they were moving to stage 2, social distancing, in their plan against an epidemic. That means people will work from home, schools will close, etc. So she said even if the trip happened, everything would be closed and the kids wouldn't get to do anything. If that's the case, I would think the insurance would HAVE to cover the cost because I would assume that travel restrictions would also be in place. I can't imagine asking people to stay home but then accepting foreign tourists to enter the UK. I guess we'll see how it plays out.

If it was up to me, I would still go. It's like the whole has gone bloody insane, more than usual.
Might actually be the best time to go....low crowds because everyone is scared to go. They said on the news this morning that The Efteling was completely dead because people were afraid of catching something. And my husband and I went to Disneyworld for our honeymoon, 2 weeks after September 11th. No one was flying, hotels were vacant...we didn't have to wait for a single ride, except It's a Small World, and only then because the CM wanted us to have our own boat, so we had to wait like a minute for the next boat to come. But the parks were completely empty, so we got to do EVERYTHING. It was great.

Yep, both my grandmothers had same, and they were pedal/treadle-powered...no electricity needed.
Mom has a newer electric model that I think made it through the fire. Pop has had a few sewing machines over the years, one he used for leather.
My grandmothers were similar to this one...

And yes, the Willow City Loop is up near Fredericksburg, were we’ve been many times. Just one of many B-E-A-Utiful Texas Hill Country drives, especially during our wildflower season, which is not all that far away.
All from the Willow City Loop...sorry, mighta’ got a bit carried away...!!!!! :D:hilarious::inlove::happy:

My mom's sewing machine looked pretty much exactly like that. My brother begged me to let him have it when she passed, because he wanted to make clothes...I agreed to it and found it at the flea market a week later.

My mom received an email from Disney regarding the coronavirus. Did you get one too @93boomer ?

They can cancel for a full refund now, or wait to see how things go, and cancel within 30 days for a $200 penalty (this would be the beginning of next week for them).

I feel sorry for my parents.. they’re not freaking out, but my mom is a little worried about her and my dad at Disney. As of now they are still moving forward though. She doesn’t think they’ll cancel.
Nope not yet. But I am waiting for a cancelled concert on Tuesday we have plans for. America’s 50th anniversary tour. I bet it will cancel😟
When is their trip?

UK still allowed. Expecting some sort of travel ban to be implemented by the UK very soon.

I don't know why (and I certainly don't mean it as an insult) but I always get UK and Europe mixed up in my mind... for some reason I think of it as one in the same!

Got a well and got a generator no worry about water here. Daughter in law is a professor at a FL university she was informed all her classes will be taught on line when students come back from spring break. Wife went to Walmart for somethings (not TP) but noticed they had none.
So how will that work? Are students not to return to their dorms? Will they do online schooling from home? How will this affect students with science labs that need to do them in a lab? Lots of questions.
