thanks, and a second kid can’t make it. No subs, at least in the first game. Not sure about second. I don’t know if they’re sick or what.. parents didn’t specify.

I wish the top of T’s hair would still fit in a tiny ponytail, won’t work with his current haircut. I don’t have a good plan to keep it from driving him nuts on his forehead and dripping in eyes. I did send 2 winter hats... not sure if they’ll be more annoying.

Practicing before the game.
T didn’t put on his warm ups!! Ugh.

He'll be fine on all accounts. Why? He's a kid, that's why! :joyfull:

Dad: Do you want to become a paralegal?
Me: No, why?
Dad: We're hiring and the best part is you could work directly for me.
Me: Yeah, hard no.
I can't blame you.

My dad and his 2 younger sisters worked in the same company. The catch is they work in different departments and different areas than my dad did since you are dealing with a utility company. The problem was the oldest of the 2 sisters has a very bad reputation and my dad had to hear about his 1st sister a lot back when he worked at the company as result. It's safe to say he was not thrilled at all and is not on talking terms with her.

No, no plans. Oh, Figgy, you'll like this: I baked a banana bread the other day. Pillsbury has an easy mix.
I make Banana Bread occasionally. It is the only thing I use my food processor for. I put all the ingredients in it, spin it for a short while and then pour it into the bread pan. Lightens it up a lot, I think. Puts more air in it. It has amazingly few ingredients. And people think the men are unable to feed themselves and are completely helpless in the kitchen. Combined with my natural talent and a Betty Crocker Cookbook there is no mountain that cannot be climbed.

We’re supposed to have heavy downpours this weekend.

Everyone thought our games would be cancelled... then this went out last night-

Should be an interesting two games. We’ve played in light rain, but never what’s being predicted today.
Around here the municipalities spend large amounts of money maintaining all the sports fields. The last thing the will allow is a bunch of kids with cleats ripping up the sod. Rain equals NO PLAY regardless of how many need to be caught up. If they have time after the fields dry they can play it, if not... the season is shortened.

I've never actually had a whoopie pie. It was on my list of things to try, but we were never hungry, so there are a LOT of things on my list that I never got around to. But yes, that's part of what I didn't like about the carrot cake cookie...really dry, but then you'd bite into a squishy raisin and just.....blech. Now that I think about it, I think E and I only got one and were going to share, and she never ate her half. I think I only took a couple of bites, told her she could have the rest, and she never ate it.

I love whoopie pies.. but never had one from Disney... the Amish people around here sell them at the farmers market.... chocolate ones... and pumpkin ones... they are so good!

Sitting at the barbershop and little kid goes I'm sick. It's like what are you doing here?

Next up is some 50 year old wanting autographs from retired NHL players. Are you a little old for that kind of stuff?
Answer to the first question.... Getting a hair cut! :D

Second question... OLD? 50? Older then you perhaps, but not dead yet. I'm pushing 72 and I think you would probably faint if you knew the "childish" things that I do on a daily basis. PS... not caused by senility.🤭

That’s usually how it is. Most of the games are at the club’s fields, so they’re the ones paying, and definitely don’t want their precious pitch ruined.. some are at soccer parks, same thing there by the local parks and recreation department.

If they miss a game though it would be zero points award to each team, which would be equal to a loss. Where you place in a division is what qualifies you to remain in that division and even what league you qualify for once you get to 9v9.

The 1st and second place team both have completed seasons already. One is beating us by 3 points, the other by 4. We have played and won against the 1st place team, tied with the second., if we win both this weekend and next we will move to #1.

Similarly, some of the lower ranked teams are within 3-4 points of jumping up 2-4 spots. The bottom 3 teams get moved a division down for the spring season, so they definitely need to be able to play it out.

Unfortunate, but I think all the clubs/tourneys this weekend just look at it like it’s the end of the season, they’ll have several months to repair the fields. They want to make it fair for all teams to qualify for their respective spring divisions.

Wouldn't begin to phase the parks and recreation around here. To them and the public it is just a game. The world doesn't end if they can't play it. If there is a point system, then all they have to do is calculate which team had the most points at that time and award whatever they were going to reward to them as if they did end. After all, the schedules are made up requirement and not cast in stone. So like I said, no dry field, no playing on it. Simple, enforced and accepted by everyone. And this is a very, very, very heavy duty sports area. When surrounded by NC State, Duke and UNC, it's almost a religion.

Well, the reason I've never had one is because I am not brave enough. When I was in college, our cafeteria would sometimes have them for dessert. I had never heard of them, but one of our friends got one and I don't remember HOW it happened, but somehow the whoopie pie ended up open-faced upside-down on a plate, and when she tried to pick it up, it lifted the entire plate and all its contents on it, like it was denture paste. It rather turned me off...I wondered if it was like chewing gum, that it wouldn't break down for years and years, just taking up space. So I never had the guts to try them, and I'm sure anywhere but our cafeteria would have been fine...our cafeteria was not great. I got sick every time I ate pork there, even just a bite of it, and it always had a weird taste to it, like a sheep barn. I stopped eating pork there at all after the 3rd time it happened. I ate a lot of cereal because it was often the only thing that seemed safe. But that image of the plate being lifted by the frosting sticks in my mind and I chicken out every time.

My only guess is that parks and recreation wouldn’t want to lose the money from the clubs who play there.
We have our own fields, but some clubs rent a local soccer park’s field for all of their practices, home games, and tournaments.. and then everyone pays a parking fee when attending the games.

I don’t know if that’s an additional reason why they allowed play today, but it would make sense if so.

I’m just glad that the teams were allowed to compete.. it’s impossible to make a determination of placement without finishing a season. If all teams hadn’t finished then it would have been easier to cancel, and made complete sense to do so even if it hurt placement a little. In our division there’s 8 teams, 4 finished last weekend, 4 still have games this weekend and next.

All teams have different season end time because we all schedule differently due to tournaments- we don’t all play in the same ones.

I made this sound a lot more confusing than it is .. but hopefully it made sense. Lol

Supply and demand. There are thousands of kids involved in sports around here and there is no charge for using the fields. It is strictly supported by tax payers and commercial sponsors. It's a classic example of "Build it and they will come"! In a situation like you said, they would just have to schedule it after the regular planned season. They will let them reschedule, just stay off my wet lawn is the rule and is strictly followed. You oughta see the baseball fields that are public supported around here. The would make a major league ball field look like a sandlot. The infields and outfields are like carpets.
