Man.... I got a jury summons for Jury selection on Feb 7th with a to be announced date if I get on a trial. I have a trip to New Orleans from Feb 17th-21st. No way to know if the Jury's they are selecting for, will be the week I'm gone. So I am drafting a letter with copies of my travel documents explaining the situation. (because you have to do it in writing) and we shall see what happens!

I was selected for jury duty last year, easily got out of it with a fax from HR.

Just send document for you trip, you’ll be fine. :)

There was a Shopko in Sister's Bay? When we went for vacation, we stocked up at the Piggly Wiggly, but I can't even guess wher Shopko is or might have been.

I am surprised that they have lasted this long. When Target took off, that kind of seemed like the end for them.

Shopko did announce today that they filed for Bankruptcy protection and are closing 38 more stores. I don't know if Sister Bay is on the list. When I last check, Shopko did not give a list of stores that are closing.

I know there was not a Pamida or a Shopko for many years in Sister Bay. I first went to Door County as a kid when Thumb Fun Amusement Park existed and it was before Thumb Fun added a Water Slide. Thumb Fun Amusement park. closed down in 1998 and that amusement park got a water slide in 1992. All my trips at Door County, I stayed in Fish Creek. Sister Bay is one the destinations I always went to.

Back in the 2000s, I only went to Door County twice, but they did not have a Pamida before November of 2007. I was not at Door county for 3 or 4 year stretch before the 2010s. I did know that Shopko took over that Pamida in the later part of 2012.

What I know is Pamida took over a existing building in 2007 at Sister Bay. That building was a Krist Foods Building based on what I read.

I don't know what is going to happen to the Shopko building if the store closes. The size of the building makes it hard for most Mom and pop stores to take over a building that size.

@dryerlintfan I took this photo last week, meant to show you at that time.. not sure if A would like one.. but my A is in love with it!! My sis is an Amazon nut, I think she ordered the scarf from there, and was very reasonably priced. The pic doesn’t do it justice.

Different states have different rules, but here it's really not difficult to defer to a later date. You just call the jury line. I've done it before. So you just appear on the new date.

Does anyone think celebrating the "New Year" is silly? I mean....this new year feels just like the old year. And next Dec. 31st this current new year will definitely be an old year. 10, 9, 8, 7.....the entire thing is just so random.
....I didn't want to post about this back on Dec. 31st or Jan. 1 because I'd be a "party pooper" or a New Year's grinch....but now seems like a safer time to post on the subject ;)

To each his own. It may not make any significant sense to celebrate New Year's, but it does make me pause and think about how things might be done better in the new year. (Now, of course, I could entertain that exact same thought on any day of the year, but I guess I need a little incentive?! ;) )

Once New Year's passes and I've done this reflection, nothing much changes anyway. :hilarious:

We don't usually get a lot of snow here, and it doesn't stick for very long when we do. So a few years ago, it snowed a LOT overnight and it was so awesome because the teachers let the kids stay out and play in the snow for a while, knowing it wouldn't be there anymore by recess. So almost the entire school was out on the playground having snowball fights and building snowmen. I loved that the teachers didn't call them in right away.

That is so nice that the kids just got to play in the snow. Sometimes kids just need to play, and when a snowfall comes (especially if it is rare for you) that is just plain fun.

This is our culture and it will always be on that date. I'm just thinking that all across the world people push themselves to look excited at midnight....like the world will now be fresh and new. It's a New Year;) Everything is sparkly new.:joyfull: Yet on Jan 16th everything is the same as before.:( It's cold and most Christmas lights are packed away. It gives the mailman a much needed day off. It allows people to go to Disney between Christmas and New Years. It serves its function for sure.;)
I'm rambling. Enough Steve! :rolleyes::D

So, last Monday afternoon we got a text that the kiddos were taking Emy to Dell Children’s Hospital. They were afraid she had had a seizure. Oldest DD has many years of working with and teaching young children, so has experienced this more than once.
They were all napping when they were awakened by Emy making whimpering noises, twitching, and rolling her eyes back in her head. In a follow-up text while they were at DCH, I asked if it just could have been some intense dream. She relplied that the doc also mentioned same, and didn’t see any evidence of it being any kind of classic seizure, but, referred them to a pediatric neurologist for further evaluation. She had an EEG this past Monday. Fortunately, this afternoon, all results came back negative...!!!!!!!!!!! :joyfull: :inlove:  :)

A pic of our adorable little Electrodehead Emy...!!!!! :hilarious:  :inlove: ;) :)
