We've never had a problem driving in the Orlando area. That being said we've found staying off the main roads at rush hour the way to go.

I find I need to be always 'on my game' while driving' O'Town. Soooo many people not knowing where they are going and too many seeing their turn offs at last second and cutting others off. I was near the French Quarter and a TWIT turned right from the left hand turn lane right in front of me. I was out. While Disney tries to right the transportation system yet again I'll take the bus, ferry or Uber when their transportation is messed up at times.

I drive about 3 hours in any given direction, bit farther in Wisconsin 'cause they seem to know how to drive. Other than that I fly. I'm not wired for long distance driving and it has always been ME that had to be the driver.

Jack hates the vaccuum--he thiinks it's an alien invading "his" house! That was so cute about Walt, though. :inlove:

We are still all sharing memories of Walt's life. Likely forever, such a hoot unto himself.

Every single one of my Pups hated the Stereo. They knew that sound, the slight puff of air through the speakers when you pressed the power button on.

And flashback. Packing up house. I had an enclosed built in, door'd Stereo Cabinet. Now wondering if that Stereo system ever came out of there or if it got left behind closed doors. I remember the Bose speakers being collected but.......interesting.

That was nice of you! Starting a school year on a birthday isn’t any fun.

I think I agree with you about the later start. Spring can be iffy weather wise, at least August is guaranteed to be warm enough to be outside.. and swimming!
Our first day of school was 8/24 this year, 12pm dismissal..I get it, unpacking and getting situated. Our last day of school is 6/1, 10am dismissal. I don’t even understand why the kids are going to school on that day.
I actually get that. We used to have the short last day. Get your report card, last whole school meeting of the year, and then most of us would end up at the park with our kids, having a big old picnic. Now, by state law, we have to have a full day. Let me tell you, that is the WORST day to supervise those little darlings at lunch time. Everything is packed up and put away. I think it is just babysitting that seems cheap, but really isn't.

@MouseDreaming I will admit to being a lazy forum friend. Yet from my speed reading....It would seem that you are a teacher and you teach in or near Chicago?
I'm a 5th grade instrumental music teacher in NJ. What is your grade or subject?

Looks like a great weekend. I never knew what to do with my niece. The simple things were lost on her and while always polite and well mannered you could just tell little impressed her. But I have great memories of her childhood, she was 4 when I took her on Splash Mt. She loved it until the Big Drop and off the ride immediately called her mother to complain that Auntie Gabe used very poor judgement.:happy::joyfull:

How old is your niece?

It has always been fun doing things with my niece. So is up for anything and willing to eat anything. She always says her favorite part of visiting is just being with us. Since we don't have any kids of our own she has been like the grandkids we will never have. She is 13 so maybe she won't want to hang out with us as she gets further into her teen years, but I hope she still wants to hang with us.

Lunch.

When the schools in my district were built, they did not build a cafeteria, so lunch is in the classrooms. Each one of those rooms needs an adult to come in and supervise the kids. I supervise the supervisors.
