Didn't even have to do that. The other girls parents decided to attend. I just stayed warm and cozy.

I am in awe at the amount of kids for sports and activities are just being deposited via Uber and Lyft. Now with parents ability to order return trip from their phone vs kids it is making it even easier I hear. I'm liking the idea that in the future I can order an Uber for my Mom, add a tip and all she has to do is get in. Beats me driving all the way there and back. Wouldn't be bad if I didn't have to navigate around 11 square miles of Ohare, wanted to scream when they expanded it even farther west.

I would never put my daughter in an Uber or Lyft at this age. To be honest, I don't here of a lot of parents near me doing this.

Of course, I almost threw up a little when I got a message today from her friend's mom asking me if she was planning on doing drivers ed this summer.

Maybe they are ok with the security but the vacation planning site stinks. I tried an hour or so ago to check and see how much a package (tickets and hotel) would cost for the 6 of us for a few days next May(2019) and I couldn't get a price. It said I didn't meet length of stay requirements. I kept making the stay longer, and I still got the same message. I guess you have to book ticket and hotel separately? I wasn't looking for a discount, just wanted a round about price.

You are too far out from the date. 499 you can do the room only and must be by phone.

  • You can’t do it on the Disney World website. You can only do it by calling Disney directly, or through a travel agent like Destinations in Florida.
  • For dates beyond what are available on the Disney World website, you can only book rooms—not packages with tickets, the dining plan, and such. (You can add these to your reservation later.)
  • The prices you’ll be quoted will be 2018 prices. These will be wrong. The prices for the next year are usually announced in the summer of the prior year–so 2019 prices likely will come out in summer 2018. This is also when the website is opened to 2019 reservations.
  • You will have to pay a deposit to hold your reservation. This deposit will increase when the final prices for 2019 come available.
  • When final prices come out, your travel agent will help you fix your deposits…and if any discounts come out, your travel agent can also help you take advantage of those! You can also add tickets and other parts of a package later, when final prices come out.

No Nutella on mine please. :depressed:

It was sunny today but by late afternoon that four letter word started falling from the sky. Messed with my dinner plans. :bored: We are supposed to have 60+ degrees with pouring rain in a few days. We still have a great deal of snow on the ground...wonder where all that rain is going to go? Remember no Nutella please. :cautious:
I keep looking at the weather report and freaking out. I have seen totals of rain through Tuesday from a doable 1.5 inches to just over 3. Frozen ground. All the snow isn't melted. I hate to say it, but I think I would feel better about this if it were snow instead. (Enjoy that @MinnieM123 and @Mr Ferret 88 . You know it is bad when I say something like that.)

Being immersed in a language is so much better than just learning grammar which is how we were taught in school. I like your Stitch avatar by the way.:)

My folks used to speak pretty fluent Czech when we were kiddos. They kinda' lost that ability over the years, but, then several years ago they had planned a trip to Prague to visit my moms relatives. They spent the entire year running up to that trip becoming fluent in the language again. The relatives were very impressed, and they've been back a few times since.

I'd put my kid in Uber or Lyft before a taxi cab. The Taxi we have been in the last few years, well one has been OK rest gross. Coming back from Ohare last December the Taxi front seat was in recline, filthy and the dude tried to hold our luggage hostage until he was paid, red flag to me as I thought he'd take off with it anyhow. Gut. We had an issue with one Lyft driver in Disney got lost going from WL to Poly. We wound up getting out in the middle of a parking lot, cast parking for the ticket and transportation center nearer to the Poly and walked the overpass bridge for cast. (my son knew how to do it) Driver was so lost we got out. Lyft credited us and guaranteed within an hour we'd never be paired with us again.

It is that gamble in life I guess, park district employees with kids in vans/small buses, school bus drivers, field trip chaperones, trip chaperones. Me my never ever ever was my kid ever going on a trip or retreat with our Church given the history of Northern IL and cover ups. We all draw our own lines in the sand.

It's a sad morning at our house. Our society finch "Mo" died overnight. We lost his mate "Miney" about 6 months ago, and now he is gone. Wondering if the shovel can break the sound under the snow, so Mo can be buried near his mate. My heart is breaking a bit this morning. Mo was a real songbird. How he loved it when we put his cage near the window in the nice weather. He would sing all day long, and hop from branch to branch. Or perch to perch in his cage. We had 6 finches, and now we have three left. Eenie, Meanie, and their baby Dottie.
Sorry to hear this.
