Huh...interesting. I guess that makes sense. Kind of strange how it's evolved into what it is today. As far as I know it is a tradition that the early German immigrants in the 1800’s brought with them. The groundhogs looked liked badgers from Germany. They watched their hibernation practices and thought they predict how soon Spring would come by when they stopped hibernating.
Will try to get pics tonight.. I hope the moon is out, no clouds today.Sympathy like.
I know your pics would have been awesome...!!!
I think you're reading too much into it. You seem to be determined to be offended like I attacked you personally. In my original post, I said " And pedophiles target kids with only one parent...they know those kids are more vulnerable and that they will be more receptive of the attention." That is what convicted pedaphiles in prison have told those who study it. When you ask them how they choose their victims, THAT is what they say. I just stated what the research shows...I did not ever say "it's ALWAYS kids from single homes" or that "every kid from a single parent home" experiences that...those were YOUR words, not mine. And then to say "I can absolutely say that's not true"...well, that sounds like YOU are the one making the generalization. Just because it doesn't apply in your case doesn't mean it doesn't apply to anyone else. I was just stating what the statistics show. It wasn't about you. And I never said anything about being a lacking little snowflake, again, your words, not mine, but I think that's a pretty harsh judgment about kids who are going through their parents' divorce....wow. Or was that just directed at me because I said I felt lonely and abandoned because my father wasn't around much? My original post had nothing to do with how the kids feel....it's about what pedaphiles look for because statistically, certain groups are more easily accessable and easier to manipulate. Whether you belong to the majority of that statistic or not doesn't change it. You weren't part of the percentage who is victimized or feels rejected, etc....good for you. You're not the only one that grew up in a single parent home. One dad raising four girls here. I never felt like a vulnerable lacking little snowflake. Maybe in your original post you should have phrased SOME or maybe MOST children feel that way but you broad based your original comment to include ALL children of single parents, which isn't true.
Good morning. Thanks for all your prayers and pixie dust. MIL's surgery went great. She actually has color back in her face this morning. The nurses are getting her up to walk sometime today. She will probably be discharged Sunday and transferred to a rehab facility, which happens to be across from their home, how lucky is that? That will be good for her so they can get her up and moving plus her house is not suitable for taking showers when she can't get her leg up over the tub. Some improvements are going to have to be done by my DH and BIL before she returns home. I gave them instructions to remove all slippery rugs that she has all over the house. And FIL is not good at doing anything around the house. He basically lets MIL do it all. This shall be a test for him. DH talked to some of their friends without them knowing to ask if they would keep an eye on FIL for us. He is getting really bad about remembering anything and basically taking care of himself. DH had to remind him yesterday to eat breakfast before heading to the hospital.
Two of our pups are snuggled up for a long winters nap. Such a good idea.

I like the post from @MinnieM123That makes sense. I like the tradition, because it's fun. I 'm always rooting for the groundhog to see his shadow, and I can enjoy more winter!(Disclaimer: Had to use a cat smiley because we don't have a groundhog smiley.)
By the way, Ms. G (the official Massachusetts state ground hog) also saw her shadow today. More winter!
