I was hoping to get all my holiday decorating done today. Then I got a call last night and will be out long enough today so that won't happen:mad::mad::mad:. Worst case the boys will do it over the weekend and we'll have a happy hot mess. When I do it the snow globes go together, same for nutcrackers and snowpeople, when the boys do it whatever goes where ever.:inlove::inlove::inlove::inlove::inlove::inlove::inlove::inlove:

For me, Ice skating was no good for me as a kid. I discovered was better at roller skating than ice skating. Back when I was in gym class we had roller skating, I had much better balance in roller skates than ice skates. I don't think would be decent at rolling skating anymore due to my gait being off due to a severe hip injury I had as a junior in High school with one leg being slightly longer than the other.

I was prone to sprain ankles as a kid and I did try ice skating on a field trip back when I was in 4th grade. I got my ankles stronger by doing different types exercises at home after I was shown at Children's hospital back when I was a kid.

There was an indoor skating rink just past a mile from the grade school I went to. I discovered I had very bad balance on ice skates and the only way I could ice skate is by holding a walker back when I was in grade school. I fall down 6 times in about 7 minutes and landed on my knees and I'm sure that is one of the reasons how I got bad knees as an adult.

There's a better balance point on roller skates, and some people prefer them. Luckily for me, I was very good on ice skates, so when I tried roller skates, they seemed a bit clunky to me.

Both sports are good to help your muscles and build up your endurance. Glad that roller skating helped you out a bit. :)

Meant to share with those of you with autistic children (or similar medical issues) that I saw on the local news (MA) here yesterday, a special private time in a large shopping mall for these kids.

A few hours before the mall opened, these parents and children were allowed in, so that the kids could meet Santa without the usual noise and chaos of a shopping mall. It was a calm environment for these children, and they also had arts and crafts for them, and a few comfort dogs were there for the children to meet. The event was very well received, and I heard that quite a few other shopping malls in the U.,S. are also offering similar events during the holiday season. :)

Thank you for sharing. So beyond happy this was well received and being done again. I'm lucky my older ds does well in crowds, thank you Hershey and Disney:joyfull: but it must be a Godsend for those kids who can't

So the previous morning, I was the first one up. It was about 5am. I went into the kitchen and saw the garbage can not in its normal spot, but further off to the center of the kitchen. I thought the dogs had tried tipping it over like in the past. I picked it up and felt it was empty. Then I noticed our cat Tigger was scratching at it. Thought it was funny. He had never done that before. He kept doing it. I then realized that maybe something had gotten under it. I tipped the can to the side. Then I saw what may have been his mouse toy stuck in one of the small slots. I grabbed it, and then quickly realized it was a field mouse. I stifled a scream and let go. It went back into the slot. I then realized that I had to get the little thing and put it outside. I grabbed a surgical glove and pulled the little mouse out again and held it at arms distance. Tigger was very curious and excited. I let the little thing that was acting stunned outside in the grass. I told dh. We do leave our garage door between the kitchen and garage ajar at night so the cats have another area to go into. There is also a litter box in there. Figured the mouse crawled into the garage from outside when it was open. Anyway dh said that was the first night in a long time that the cats didn't wake him up a zillion times in the night. I said maybe the key to a good nights rest is having a mouse that the cats can chase.:p;):D:hilarious:

That's awesome!! Our Children's Hospital and some local businesses do this for the kids in our area, but I haven't seen a mall do it! The Children's Hospital also puts on a low sensory trick or treating experience as well.

My sister found evidence of a mouse in her pantry a few weeks ago. She was very surprised as she lives on the 7th floor of an apartment building. She did catch the mouse but let's just say she didn't put it outside.

I had mice in my third floor apartment years ago!! Apparently my neighbor was a hoarder type personality and they just happened to find her place and spill over to mine. I tried for weeks to catch and release them humanely, but finally the exterminator had to come in :(
