Which table service restaurants are you planning on? For table service we had reservations for Walt's and Bistro Chez Remy both I would eat at again. We also did the Buffalo Bill dinner show, the food wasn't too bad for Europeans doing American BBQ food, the show was the major draw there. Your kids might enjoy the show since they have been to the American West, it was very entertaining to us as adults.

Another place we ate that had decent food was Annette's, which served hamburgers and had a American 50's style vibe. That was in the Disney Village area. I hear that there is a Five Guys in the Disney Village area now, it is an American chain for hamburgers and hubs and I just love it here. So if your family likes burgers you might want to try that.

We also got some pasta dish at the Colonel Haithway's quick service in the Disneyland Park, it was terrible. I mean I would have rather have eaten Kapono's dog food terrible. But by the time we finally ordered 45 minutes of standing in line we were beyond ravenous. And it was one of the only quick service options open at that time of night, which was at 6pm.

We also ate at Toad Hall in Fantasyland for quick service, it wasn't terrible but it wasn't outstanding either. We got chicken but I have heard the fish and chips are really good. The atmosphere inside was cute.

When we went the breakfast was included with the price of the room. We had eaten the terrible meal the first day so we loaded up on breakfast to fill us up until our table service meals. The quality of the food there was really shocking. We had just spent about 6 days in Paris and the food was terrific everywhere and we just popped into places in Paris. For being near such a culinary city DLP has terrible food. You are driving right? I suggest bringing some snacks.

As for rides, just like at WDW go for the big ones right away. The early entry will allow you to get some of Fantasyland and maybe some of Tomorrowland done (some of it was open one of our early days) done right away, so hit Peter Pan and stuff one morning. When we went we used one early day for attractions and another for meeting characters. Early entry didn't seem to be a big deal when we went, and that was in summer. There weren't masses of people waiting, the first day we did early entry it was us and like 20 other people! It was very surreal to walk down Main Street with just a few people.

Also we don't know if it was a fluke or what, but they didn't seem to enforce the fast pass return times like they do at the American parks. But that was a couple years ago so maybe they do now.
We are planning to do just buffets...I was going to do Billy Bobs or whatever it's called, the Hunter's Lodge I think it's called (at the Sequoia), and ...I was thinking maybe Garden plaza. DS won't eat BBQ anything, or burgers...I thought Annettes looked cute, but he wouldn't eat there, so that's out, and Remy's doesn't have anything he'll eat, either. Was the Dinner show a pre-fix menu? I figured with the buffets, if nothing else, DS will eat fries and baguets...and desserts. I have heard that the food in DLP is shockingly bad, which makes me nervous, but yes, we're driving, so we can take all the food we want. And there's always McDonalds and a friend said there is a pizza hut in Disney Village...? When we went to Paris, we had EXCELLENT food, and CHEAP. We found this little restaurant on a side street somewhere and for something like 10 Euros each we got Coq au vin, and braised beef and it was so good. Then we went to a slightly more expensive place the next night, but got steak and creme brulee and it was all SO delicious. It surprises me that the food at DLP is so bad!! We get vouchers for QS breakfast and TS lunch or dinner each day of our stay, so I figured the buffets would be safest.

Oh, good choice!! I love the zoo!
Those Bison...I grew up across the highway from one of the largest "buffalo" ranches in the world. It was pretty neat...I could look out my bedroom window and see them in the distance.

Little story, I'll try and make it brief. There is a little town about 6 miles from the Canadian border in NY State. A man whose last name was Minor, was raised there by an adopted family. When he grew he went to Detroit to make his fortune. While there he met a down on his luck drunk that had created the plans for the, as of yet unheard of, Pullman Coupler used to secure train cars together easily. The inventor was unable to be taken seriously and was unable to patent his creation. Mr. Minor bought the plans from him and proceeded to have it patented. He became a multi-millionaire. He moved back to the town of Chazy, NY and created what was known later as the Minor Foundation. It was a school to train farmers and study agricultural innovations.

I told you that to tell you this, at the time the Buffalo/Bison herds had been almost completely wiped out. He salvaged a small herd and moved them to the Minor Farm where they bred them and along with a few other places in the states rejuvenated the herds. My Grandparents owned a piece of land overlooking the pasture where they were kept. Close enough so that, as a child, I could see them from their front yard. What majestic creatures they are.

Mr. Minor also kept the town from ever feeling the affect of the great depression. He hired the locals to work for him at make work projects like putting up a line of fences and then taking them down and then rebuilding them, just to give the locals employment through the time. Of course there were other projects as well, I just remember that fence one as being very impressive. Also he also provided a huge house, and income and provided for his every need for the actual inventor for his entire life. Not a bad guy all in all.
Wow....that's really interesting! Too funny that we both grew up within sight bison ranches! Well, where I grew up there are several ranches that have Bison, but the big name one is the Durham Bison Ranch. The address is "Gillette" Wyoming, but that's because the ranch existed before my hometown was incorporated. The Flocchini girls went to school with me...they are a few years younger than me, though.

I don't know if it's still there, but there was a popular diner up in northern NH, that had coffee cups for their regular customers (most customers were "regulars"). They had a shelf with all the cups, and each one had a name. So, if your name was Susie, they'd see you come in, and they'd get the "Susie" cup, pour coffee in it, and place it in front of you at the counter! :joyfull: (Real small town stuff--I like that!)
The local cafe in my town had a "coffee club". It wasn't official....just seemed that everyone headed up there at 10 am on the weekend, so there was a table in the back and anyone who came up for coffee could just go sit with that group and talk about town gossip. Refills were free, and if they started to get low on coffee, everyone knew where the coffee pot was and someone would just go grab it and refill everyone's cup. There was this elderly man who always came in with his son-in-law...he was so sweet, and everyone in town just called him "Grandpa". He would only drink one cup of coffee, no refills. Coffee was 75 cents...he always tipped $1. (I worked there very briefly on the weekends while I was doing my student teaching, until my mom was diagnosed with Cancer) I was so sad....in 2005, a tornado came through and destroyed half the town. There were 2 deaths, and "Grandpa" was one of them. I read that he told EMTs to save their bandaids, there were kids who needed them more than he did. I guess he ended up having a heart attack. It was just heartbreaking. I think he was over 100 years old, so on the one hand, he had a nice long life, but on the other...how sad to live that long and then die from a Tornado! How ironic is that?

Yep, as responsible parents we all do what we feel is best for our particular kiddo and family dynamic.
It's the parents that don't seem to give a hoot about others around them in a public place that get me. They either seem to be too lazy to handle the situation, or just don't care. Why did you bother starting a family in the first place, then...?!
We just got back from my folks a little while ago (DWifey, myself, all 3 kiddos, and SonIL were there - and, yes, we were solving all the problems of the world  ;)), and this was part of the discussion.
It doesn't matter how inconvenienced you are, you chose to start a family, so take the time to raise it up properly. It's not rocket science.
Oh AMEN!! It looks like DS might have Autism after all. They tested him in...Feb? for Autism, ADHD, Anxiety, and they tested his IQ. They said that while he has "streaks" of all those disorders, he isn't really on the spectrum, and that his meltdowns are caused by a huge difference between the "verbal" and "performance" sides of IQ. His verbal (cognitive) IQ puts him at gifted, but his performance IQ is below average, so he gets frustrated when he can't perform a task. So we've had him in a sort of Therapy now for 4 weeks and the therapist told me today that she's having 2nd thoughts, now that she knows him and has spent time with him. She thinks he is showing a LOT of behavior consistent with Autism...not being able to handle change, not having insight into his own behavior or role in a situation, etc. So I don't know where we go from here, but as a parent, I have to be the one to make sure he gets what he needs. He didn't ask me to bring him into this world, and however much work and frustration it can be, it's still my job to take care of him and meet his needs. Like you said, why have kids if you aren't going to raise them??

And, for what it's worth, and for whoever cares, I'd like to apologize for my recent spaz on this thread.
I, mostly, do come here for fun, frivolity, and silliness, but, I also realize that real life and opinions tends to bleed over into the thread, as well. I have NEVER put anyone on ignore, and have NEVER reported a post. It's just not in my nature.
Anyway, my sincerest apologies to anyone my comments may have hurt or offended. None of you deserved that.
From now on, I will just move past (like I have mostly done in the past) what I don't want to get involved in, and there will be no comments from me.
Again, my sincerest apologies to you all.
Welcome back!! I'm so glad to see you "home". We all have moments of frustration and need a break. Just like any "family", we have disagreements. But we all still care about one another and enjoy spending time together for the most part. I can't speak for anyone else, but I don't really need the apology. I'm just glad you are feeling better about everything and that you came back.

My ds built a Lego Rubik's cube solver. It actually works. :eek:He also has the snake, the pyramid, ones that are 9x1, etc. He wanted every type of those puzzles one year. Can't complain about it though. At least it made him think.;)
We had a game when I was a kid called Rubik's Race. It's a 2 player game and you shake the bubble thing and all the "dice" land in a certain color pattern and you have to try to beat your opponent at matching the color pattern and then you close the little window thing over your side. I was really good at that game. Can't solve a rubik's cube to save my life, but I was really fast with the race!! Perhaps your son would like it?

Jumping ahead because I'm still catching up.... @Cesar R M , I just got a message from my friend from Mexico that there was another earthquake, epicenter in Puebla. Is that close to you? Are you ok? Her brother lives there and she hasn't been able to get ahold of him yet. I hope you are fine!
I'm not nearby but I got friends and family nearby. There were a lot of damaged buildings. So I expect deaths in the 100's
