If we go the puppy route we're leaning towards a Pom. With James getting older and maybe leaving home in a few years something smaller would be best. Herding dogs were great when the boys were little they kept them in their place

I love Poms. Just a chore to brush

Mine to and from the store ride in the trunk and once home are kept under king sized pillow cases even when empty.
