I agree. I have several friends that are living in the Houston area fortunately none of them overly impacted. It is so nice to hear all the good things they too are doing and the focus on the things we are doing for Texas. Warms the heart to do good and to hear most Texans are focused on what we are doing. Love when we are all in.
I got an aunt who is in the impacted area. She didnt get flooded by all the nearby areas were. Very scary! (She lives in the borders of Katy, TX).

{{HUGS}} I'm not ready for another dog yet. Maybe if I can talk my dh into a kitten we'll have another pet before the holidays if not maybe next year.

I want a puppy.

I took my Mom to dinner tonight. Outside the restaurant on the old Great Lakes Naval Base there was a Puppy. A golden retriever 12 week old puppy. She was tranquil. Licked hands gently, happy for the love of strangers. Love retrievers. She was a big pile of love.

Hugs . . . I can really empathize with you. My previous dog (before Jack) was my little soulmate. She was an angel sent from God, and I truly believe that. It took me over a year to stop grieving in a big way; truth be told, I don't think I'll ever get over the loss of her, but time helps to move her out of the forefront of my mind. That's the best I can hope for you and Walt.

Thank you and I feel for your loss too. Just a lot of loss in a years time here and it all piles up at the moment. Walt was my rock, my loyal friend, strange but besides his wild antics we seemed to have a mutual respect and loving bond. It is hard.

odd garbage? I'm confused, when you say "pull from the net". You mean as in downloading OR as in linking directly to the website photo in question?

Not sure what that exactly means, I have such limited knowledge of tech talk. *hangs head* But I grabbed a photo from images on google. It seemed to carry all sorts of 'extra' crud after the photo image. It was the first time ever that when I hit edit to the post I couldn't delete the stuff after the image nor could I just delete the photo. Weird. I gave it that old college try though.

No I understand...I had those spells for months after having our dog put to sleep. Every time I'd see something about pets, I'd start bawling. We lost him about 2 weeks before my mom died, so I was a MESS for a while. He was 17 and was miserable....incontinence, a huge tumor, mobility problems...my mom had him put down when he wasn't able to make it to the door to go outside to the bathroom. She was so sick herself that she couldn't take care of him and my brother and I both lived 4 hours away. I hated it, but we really couldn't let him suffer anymore. I'm glad you can look at pet stores at least.

And I wonder why these life events come in clusters. Jeepers. I'm sorry you went through that too.

I didn't let Walt get quite to that point but I did know when it was time as rough as that decision was. Coupled with my Dad just before and we had to also make that call of humanity too, ugh...life is rough at times. Makes you hold those close though that you love. Life is too short for the other 'first world' crisis' of the day. We have warm and fuzzies happening with our Illinoisans, helping those with special needs across the board up here, the weekend for that along with boatloads of support for those in Texas who need our love and support. It has helped me get through the weekend of memories doing good. Checks and balances.

Do you guys have pets? I can't recall.

We saw the CUTEST dogs on the planet today. DD and I had to take back a pair of jogging pants to Primark (the hanger said they were extra small...they were apparently on the wrong hanger and we hadn't bothered to check, they were medium.) So we were walking through the city shopping district and there was this elderly couple with 2 little dogs in a baby stroller and one on a leash and I swear to you I have never seen cuter dogs. DD ran after them to ask if she could pet them, and while she was petting the ones in the stroller, the one on the leash jumped up like "ME TOO!!" so she knelt down to pet her and the dog jumped right in her lap and gave her kisses. Made DD's day. They were just these tiny little furballs!

Awe. Nothing like fur to make our days.

I had several encounters with furballs today. Thinking the stars were aligning just for me today with the cute puppy furballs.

Cute! I don't have a sing pair of mittens anymore. Walt was a pup that was a big strong boy. I needed full hand control, meant gloves over mittens even though mittens kept my hands warmer.

Today I met a 9 week old golden, going to be a big girl. I also saw but didn't meet a black lab pup a neighborhood family has just brought into the neighborhood I guess about 10 weeks old, happy lopping along on this leash thing.

Oy am I feeling the TUG of a pup. Bad week on the loss of Walt anniversary.
You should get the puppy.

Once Holly is gone, we've decided not to commit another 15 years to a dog, because it won't fit our plans. But for sure, if you're wanting a new puppy and it does fit your plans, you should do it.

Plus, I really want to see puppy pics. "Golden" meaning lab, yes? Oh my gosh, they are the cutest!

Merci. Spoke too soon. I found them. Many thanks.

Despite the apathetic sales staff we encountered in March, I'm going to have to bite the bullet and pick up some socks from Stance at DS next week. Christmas gifts.

I'm for one am looking forward to seeing all the Christmas Presents you pick up again on your annual trip.

Not as much shopping this trip, as we spent the better part of two days in Disney Springs this March.

Ski wants nothing but Test Track Chevy shirts. Son #1 apparently wants MORE Disney sleep pants. Hubby hasn't said what he wants, as we managed to get his giant Stitchie in the spring. And I want another Stitchie print for our bedroom, any new garbage can salt/pepper shakers (that I don't already have), two more Mickey trivets, the flatware set I should have bought in March (when we were driving, and luggage weight was not an issue), and maybe a new Dooney.

See, hardly anything at all.

Thanks I appreciate that. Too much all at once this year. Wasn't the time to bring a Pup into the fold...but it is going to happen.

I had both. I had 2 golden retrievers at the same time before Walt my Lab Retriever.

Look forward to seeing them, but watching you over the years there is hope I will be seeing more. The merchandising department knows you are coming ya know.

Be careful, I heard that constant exposure of the plastic to the sun, will leech some of the plastic oils into the water. Making it kinda a cancer risk.

Unsure if its even true but I do not drink water that has been in plastic containers that have been exposed to the sun.

I have a cover on my back bed of my truck so no risk of sun exposure.

In the world we live in these days something is going to get me eventually. :arghh:

Sorry. But glad she isn't one of the flooded ones. I saw a picture on twitter yesterday. A big, huge line a couple blocks long at one of the many FEMA centers. Only to read on, it wasn't for those looking for assistance, it was this massive group of people waiting to be processed to volunteer to help restore Houston.
