I saw that a couple of weeks ago. My friend and I went to see Spiderman, but it was sold out. Dunkirk wasn't, so we decided to see it. We liked it. She likes that intense stuff, so she enjoyed it. I love history, especially anything about WWII, so it was interesting for me.

But I also agree, it can wait for the DVD. We saw it because we were there and it was discount night, but it's not worth going out of your way for.

Both hubs and I like history and we were looking forward to it. We both thought the movie had a lot of gaps and didn't really give much background especially for people who aren't history buffs or at least remember some stuff from their high school history class.

Argh, today was eventful.

Called a job offer.. and the call went.. AWFUL.
The phone signal was cutting constantly, then I got nervous and said a mess.
I hope to call again tomorrow to fix all.. That has to be one of my most embarrasing phone blunders in my lifetime.
Specially when I can easily say the letters of words in english just fine, and this time I just.. couldn't!!!

Then we went to a restaurant, food was yummy!

Then when we returned.. turns out, our fridge that isnt even 3 years old.. kicked the bucket in a weird way. Every time you open the door it starts blaring alarms. They reviewed it and they suspect the main controlling card is fried.
I swear every rainy season some heavy equipment gets damaged somehow (our washing machine got its controlling card burned early january, last years.. its usually one of the a/c units. and now its our fridge)

Anyway, the fridge works but at very low speed/power. I hope nothing spoils.

I suppose its less good than Saving Private Ryan in every front?

It was not nearly as good as Private Ryan. Although I do agree with @StarWarsGirl it was nice to see a non-US perspective.

Let's hope your phone call goes better today for you. It's hard enough talking to a potential employer on the phone, let alone having the connection cut out multiple times. That's very unnerving. I think today will probably go better for you.

Bummer about your refrigerator--that's lousy. I hope they can fix it--a 3-year-old refrigerator shouldn't be having problems like that.

Yeah, the fridge thing sucks. They are going to pick it up today (supposedly) and they are going to lend us a replacement while they fix the new.

I'm not a fan of new tech lately because it breaks way too easily.

Unfortunately, I do not think its a good idea to call today. It rained very hard all night. Which means wet copper lines, which means even worse crackling, cutting, etc..
argh, I'm terrified that if I call its going to be worse.
I would love if I could just tell them to call me via whasap (digital) or Skype (digital as well as video too)

Their email system is VERY unreliable.

The farmers market was GREAT. Bushel of broccoli(I see a lot of cream of broccoli soup in my future), I got the peppers for stuffing, freezing and what not, lettuce, the tomatoes my dh likes (bigger than a cherry but super sweet), green and yellow squash, carrots, 3 dozen eggs, onions, the first early apples, kale (have I ever mentioned I love it), peaches and a few other goodies I'm very happy with my haul My dh and older ds not so much I made them carry everything seeing I have a boo boo I passed on some lovely cucumbers but mine have enough on them for us this week

This farm market story reminds me of the other day. Hubby and I met up for lunch at the farmers market and I ran into a student of mine. The student and her mom were eating eat rolls but the little sister was hilarious. She had a huge cucumber and was happily chomping away on it. I asked her if that was her lunch and she said "Yep and its great!"

We went to see the movie Dunkirk today, it was just okay. If you want to see it I recommend waiting until it is released on DVD and renting or Redboxing it.

DS saw it with a buddy a few days ago and said they liked it. Being the WWII buff that I am, I'm very familiar with that bit of it's history.
That all being said, I'm not sure I'll see this one in the theater.
The last war movie I saw in the theater was American Sniper, and, before that, Saving Private Ryan. Those were both very good.
Off the top of my head, another one I really liked, but, only ever saw on TV, was Enemy at the Gates.
Too many others over the years to name.

And yes, isn't it funny how so many times the "new tech" seems to be so much less reliable than the "old tech"...?!

We too were quite familiar with the story of Dunkirk so we had no trouble following it, but we thought that people less familiar would have difficulty putting it all together. I think it is worth seeing eventually or at matinee prices like we saw.

Yea, that seems to be the problem with movies like that regarding history from that era (and other older eras). How much time do you spend setting up everything so even people who aren't familiar with that history get it and making the movie way too long and boring for them vs. cutting to the chase and keeping those people's attention just long enough to be interested in the action.
Ultimately, as time passes, most won't, unfortunately, be interested in it anyway.
As we all know, it's all about the bottom line, and they will make the movies the way they see the most profitably they can...full actual history be darned.
