Thought I'd pop back in here for a few minutes. Hubby is out at a Thanksgiving Day road race for a few hours; his running time is usually pretty good, so I'm looking forward to seeing how his placement is this year. :)

Since our Thanksgiving restaurant feast isn't until this afternoon, I decided to bake a pumpkin bread this morning, and I also made a stove-top cranberry chutney. Needless to say, my dog, Jack, was underfoot. He was in shock, I think, as I don't cook or bake that often. He had this blank look on his face with every little spice jar I'd open (although that may also have something to do with me cursing the "safety seal" on all those stupid little jars. They're a pain in the neck to open. :banghead: )

Had to open up a box of raisins and it was sealed, too--so I open up the top of the box with a knife, and the box slips, and raisins go flying all over the kitchen table and floor. Now, Jack was elated at the sight of airborne food, and he dove for every raisin on the floor!! Luckily, the box was large enough, that half the raisins were still inside, which was more than enough for the chutney recipe.

When the pumpkin bread was done in the oven, I took it out to cool on a rack. But I think I took it out of the pan too soon, (maybe it's supposed to cool in the pan a bit?) because it sort of broke into thirds when I tried to put it on the rack. :( I know it was cooked through as I tested it while it was in the oven, with a knife that came out clean. Cooking. Ugh.
Did you take it out of the pan as soon as you got it out of the oven? It's better to wait about 10-15 minutes before turning it out onto a cooling rack. Also, a trick my mom taught me: Run a knife around the cake on the edge of the pan, then gently shake the pan back and forth to loosen the bottom before you flip it over.

they have a youtube channel.

my favourite song of their so far:

I have never liked that song...as a kid I thought it was creepy. Random strangers telling a little boy "Hey, come with us! Wanna see a baby?" And I've never been able to get over that. That, and Do you Hear what I Hear are my least favorite Christmas songs I think. Love Pentatonix, though...they are great!

These were all written to either my mom or my grandmother by brothers, cousins, etc of my grandmother. There's also a bracelet from Paris, that I think was sent to my mom by her older brother: View attachment 120608

Edited to add, with all the letters, I put them with the envelope in the back so you can see the postal date on them. The first one is dated on the letter itself, but the later ones aren't.
@Gabe1 I hope you can see them, but just in case, I think this is the link: http://forums.wdwmagic.com/threads/the-chit-chat-chit-chat-thread.892190/page-2943#post-6991112

considering the latest racist tirade of Trump.. thats no surprise.

anyway.. what an awful time. right by thanks giving.
but then.. some people have not much to thank..

the release of a video that shows a white cop emptying his gun clip(twice? 16 bullets or so I read on cnn) on a teenager already on the floor.

The cop is on murder charges now.

Woah! That is horrible. It's unbelievable the things like this that go on.

Thanks very much for thinking of us. Thanksgiving was back in October but I enjoy celebrating American Thanksgiving a little bit. I took advantage of a Black Friday sale today. Saved $150 on kids' clothes!

Do you not have Ducks where you are from ?
yes, but not near where I am.
Id have to drive to get to ponds with ducks.
But honestly, ducks are kinda rare in these areas.. since theres Crocodiles everywhere.
Both Swamp Crocodriles and River Crocodriles.

plus, still raining.. wont risk my new lens to rain to get to the nearby water/river drainage (which is pretty wide and has tons of birds feeding)

My mom always did stuffing from a box, which I preferred. My aunt made hers from scratch, but put way too much sage in it.
Green bean casserole has always been my favorite. My mom used to set it at the other end of the table to give others the chance to get some before I hogged it all.

A lot of people around here use summer savoury in their dressing. I'm not a fan of it...mostly because people use way too much. If actually makes me feel ill.
