I have a patio outside my kitchen with about an 8 foot raised bar on one side and table height on the other. In the middle of the table height is a large BBQ Grill. Most run off of propane which are fine but a challenge when the tanks are out in the snow. My grill has a natural gas line run from the house to the grill so it is as easy to use in the winter as it is in the summer. Turning it on to warm just melts any snow away. I use it year round. Usually the only thing I use my oven for is rolls, pastries, things like that requiring a more even specific time for baking. The BBQ will cook anything from a roast to stuffing in about half the time required in my kitchen oven. I have a pizza stone and if I toss a frozen pizza on there it will be done in about 8 minutes with a crust that is crispy vs soggy.
so, an "inline grill" is just a grill based on propane/natural gass?

Sounds good. I looked and I have 4 knives left. 2 are Cutco, one is Chicago Cutlery and one is AG Russell (which is the kind I use and it's my favorite.) I must have given all the Henkles ones away...I have 2 Henkles paring knives that I use, but I prefer the AG Russell and my husband prefers his Wusthof. I have never even used my Cutco ones I kept. But the 4 knives I have left have never been used...I already have so many that I didn't need more, so these are just sitting here. The AG Russell is one with a special coating that supposedly prevents sticking. I took pictures if you'd like me to send you a message so you can see if they are something you would use. One is a paring knife, one is a serrated knife, one I'm not sure what kind it is but it's longer than a paring knife and has a straight edge, and the AG Russell is a chef's knife...looks like probably a 10 " blade. Let me know if you want to see the pictures.
you know, this is something that I hate of being in Mexico.
the variety of products.

I could just go to any big super market in Houston and find hella bunch of brands, variations, products..and gourmet stuff.
Here you're lucky if you find like.. more than 4 brands of the same.
Most of the market is dominated by certain big brands. Rarely leaving room for better or different products.

I'm having trouble posting.....probably the wind and weather. We got slammed last night, around 16 inches of snow and wind. Still snowing...we lost our power 4 times over the night. The weather person was right.:coldfeet:
I sometimes feel very lucky of where I am living lol.

It didn't sound like that to me...just that we were all asking why she was so upset about a B. But that was before she explained that it was more about the lack of effort...at least my reaction was. And I think what @French Quarter was referring to was once @figmentfan423 explained it was the effort, and she thought our reactions were to that, not to being upset with a grade. At least that's how I took it...that she was surprised we wouldn't be upset if our kids weren't putting in the effort. But I think most of the reactions were to the initial post about the grade, not the effort, and once it was explained and people were still ketching up, it looked like we were not supporting her. I took it that she was standing up for @figmentfan423, not saying anything about our parenting.

Exactly. Some of the reactions came after she had explained at least a couple of times what she meant. I guess most people were still catching up.

I think that's it though....you know your own child and his norm. We don't. If you came on and said you were upset that he got a particular grade, we don't know his norm, so we look at the grade and think...what's wrong with that. My mom got really upset about grades and I always did my best, but sometimes it wasn't good enough for my mom. That's no way to go through life, constantly being stressed about grades and feeling like a failure if your report card isn't perfect. I think we were all reacting to the grade, not knowing her son, so not knowing he was capable of more and the B showed a lack of effort. And I think all of us would be upset if our kids were slacking off. But we wouldn't be upset if that was the best he could do. But it's hard on here to hear tone of voice, and there's a delay in response, so sometimes, we respond before we've read further posts where it is explained. I don't think anyone was saying it's ok not to do their best...we just hadn't gotten that far in the thread to know that's what she was upset about. For me, I read the initial comment, and I immediately got that tight feeling in my stomach that I got when I got an A- or a B+....that dread that I was going to have to show it to mom, and she was going to be mad and I had to work REALLY hard to get it back up so I didn't have to quit my activities. It caused a reaction in me because it brought back every incident with my mom that I just didn't understand why it was so bad to have a B. That's where my initial reaction came from. And then when I read further, and she said it was the lack of effort...THAT I can understand. Does that make sense?

I hear what you are saying. Our own personal experiences colour how we react and the assumptions we make. My childhood experiences have caused me to misinterpret things before too. I guess that's why we have to work at giving people the benefit of the doubt?

Sorry to butt in again, but I think that is exactly her point...your initial reaction was about the grade because that's what the first post was about. But then it was explained as a lack of effort rather than about the grade. But I think French Quarter thought we were attacking Figmentfan, similar to how you are feeling attacked now. She was standing up for her, saying she had every right to be upset that her son wasn't putting in effort, when most of us reacted to the GRADE, before seeing it wasn't about that. She was just trying to show support, not single anyone out. She's really not attacking you, or me, or anyone else who responded...just standing up for a friend. And I agree with you, that if it was about the grade, that is no kind of life for a kid...because I lived that, which was why I asked what was wrong with a B. But I think French Quarter was coming from it after it had already been explained, and she thought we were reacting to THAT. I hope that helps...I don't think she meant to offend anyone.
This subject has been discussed thoroughly. We are all friends here so there shouldn't be posts defending anybody against anybody. As I said in my OP all I asked was "You're kidding, right?" because I wasn't sure. Then as my quote was used to reference a "shocked" parent I posted a rebuttal. Today's a new day, time to move on, it's all good.

Yep...it does get a bit spooky. DD taught herself to read, too. I had put the kids down for a nap and I was going upstairs for something and heard talking, so I was about to get really angry, but as I came up, I saw DD kneeling at her brother's bed, reading him a book because he couldn't sleep. I hadn't even known she could read. She was 3 or 4. DS was the same way with numbers. When he was 5, we had played monopoly, just the 2 of us, because he was home sick from school. When we were done, we each counted our own money and he asked me how much I had. And then says "Oh! I had ...... so I had .....more than you." And he had it exactly right...in the thousands, and he added in his head in just seconds. Very disconcerting and yet awe inspiring. He tends to get bullied at school, partly because of that, and partly because he cries a lot. Kids think he's weird. We've been VERY fortunate that all his teachers up till now see past the "weird" and appreciate him for who he is and that he really is a sweetheart behind all the strange stuff. They've all been encouraging of him and supportive. I dread the day he gets a crappy teacher who doesn't "get" him. I had my share of awful teachers, but with a kid like DS, it could be particularly damaging because of how emotional he is. DD is much better able to cope and she's very social and everyone likes her, even though she's a "brain". There are very few who aren't her friends and those are mostly the kids who are just very envious. Her teachers love her because she's always smiley and enthusiastic...as much as her brother cries, that's how much she's bubbly. They've both had fantastic teachers, and DD only had a bad one in kindergarten, but she had 2 teachers then and only one was bad. I'm grateful.
Our GS learned to read at 3. He read books at 4, and his best subject is reading. Math, not so much. Family read to him a lot, as he was always asking someone to read book to him. He did sight words at 4 also. DD has always home schooled the kids during the summer. She doesn't want them forgetting from school to fall. I worked with DD with math and reading workbooks when she was young, she was always asking for a new workbook. Or a stuffed animal.:joyfull:

We never did black Friday. The very first year Walmart had a black Friday sale, we did go to that one, but it wasn't a big deal that year and there were only a handful of people who went at opening to get the big ticket items. That was the only time we went, because we actually needed something they had in the sale. What I see now on the news is INSANE! You couldn't pay me enough to go! Last year, I made the mistake of going shopping on the last Saturday before Sinterklaas gift night. NEVER again. And it wasn't nearly as bad as what I've seen on TV for black friday.
Personally I like Amazon, they have pretty much everything, and I can shop in my jammies!

No pics needed - I'll take any or all of them! They don't need to be pretty. :D

Oh I miss chex mix!! My mom made it every year, but there's no such thing as Chex here, so I have to get my fix in the US, and the store bought isn't as good as the home made! Have fun baking! Do you make Holly Wreath cookies?
My MIL gave me the best recipe for Chex Mix....very hot, but so addicting. It was a favorite of my hubby's office for years. I don't know how many times I gave out her recipe, and giving her the credit. When I smell chex mix I'm ready for any holiday!
