Friends, I want you all to know how much I appreciate your approval of my trip posting. Unfortunately, tomorrow l am boarding a ship for a few stops around the area and at this point have not decided whether to pay the Kings ransom for WiFi on the ship or not. So of you don't hear from me over the next two weeks and you have had no reports of icebergs in the south Atlantic, I'm probably OK.

Bon voyage, Goof!

He's been hospitalized numerous times because he suffers from schizophrenia.
I had a friend in high school who was our valedictorian. She ended up institutionalized due to this disease. She made straight A's all four years in high school. That is a very horrible disease. She is still in a hospital, with only limited hours to be out. So, so sad. I think of her potential, and how disease took that away suddenly. I feel blessed every good day, I have.

Beverly Goldberg, one of the ultimate smother mothers
We tried hard not to smother DD, we let up in Junior High, and more in high school when she got her drivers license. It worked well, she had a couple minor missteps, but she has turned out great, very , very responsible. She is doing the same with Grandsons. We found that Disney is a great place to start independence. Like letting them order their meals, and pay for their treats and stuff, when they were young, around 5. They felt so grown up, and liked the interaction with the CM's who were great with them. Of course, we were within seeing distance, but they didn't think about that. Now, the boy's help Mom when she goes without hubby.
