Just got back from visiting pop.
Good grief, that man is a dynamo!
We talked for 2+ hrs. straight, and he was up and down a few times.
Mom said friends of his who've visited and had the same procedure as many as 20 years younger than him can't believe how fast he's bouncing back!
Although, several that know him well, actually can...! ;) :)

We were at a good quick service place for lunch. At the register is bandannas for sale to support cancer research. And as I looked at the sign it just rubbed me the wrong way. This place doesn't sell clothing normally just food and beverages.

The bandannas had the places name bold and prominent.

$4.99 price. $2.00 of which will be donated to cancer research leaving $2.99......

Bandannas wholesale between .25 cents to .50 cents.

Yep, capitalism in its purest form.

I don't think what Cesar is saying applies to hard working moms. There are definitely parents who don't pay enough attention to their kids because they're so self-absorbed. That's how you get so many kids who think they're entitled to whatever they want.

In my generation it was the evil television set that labeled Moms as not paying enough attention to their kids, now it is social media. When I was raising my kids it was those video games that had people saying we were not paying enough attention to our kids. Or I'm missing it where I live? I just passed our town gazebo packed with parents taking pictures of their kids as they were going off to Homecoming, our swim meets were packed with parents and I can just remember the amount of parents volunteering at concession stands to support their kids band and sporting events. We had booster clubs, PTO's, parent coaches for soccer, baseball etc before highschool and parents came to those events. I think we are often just seeing a small snippet of Mom's and their days with their children. Often when someone would see me playing with my phone it actually had something to do with my kids. It was a real juggling act to pull off all we did in a day.

Guess that is why I hate broad statements especially when they single out the Mom. I wonder how many of us on this particular social media sight are parents? I'd like to think even though we play on here we are not labeled as parents that don't pay enough attention to their kids or are self-absorbed.

I believe your thinking is correct. Just cuz we play here doesn't mean we're self-absorbed. Life should be about balance and part of that is taking time to enjoy ourselves, right?

Early in my first career I took a train into the City everyday and back again. About 45 minutes. I no longer worked downtown though I had to commute to the lake often by car because that is where the ships yards were after my kids were born. I missed those days of sitting on the train and just decompressing and reading the paper or a book.

My grandfather stopped by today to give us my great-great grandfather's violin and viola. My great great grandfather was in the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra. The violin and viola are each over 100 years old. Sad because all I could do today was tune them, play the strings with no fingering using my violin's bow, and pluck "Twinkle twinkle little star" as if they were guitars. But once my hand heals, going to teach myself viola.

Wow!
That is way cool!
Hope you heal quick so you can learn that viola...! :)

I need to pick up my guitar, Old Red, soon. It's been a while, but, it's such great therapy for me...! :)

You're only as old as you feel, right? I'm kind of an "old" mom myself. Hubby and I had a hard time finding a place to live when we moved here and we wouldn't bring a child into the world until we could provide for him/her, so I was nearly 30 when I had my daughter, and I was a week from my 31st birthday when I had my son. Well...6 days, so for all intents and purposes, a week.

Nope, not an "old" mom at all.
DWifey was 28 when we had our first, and 32 when we had our third. :)

Hi all, we had a good flight got to see a lightening strike just beyond our plane, wish I had my camera out. Got in to art of animation, at 5 pm, after leaving at 6:45 AM. Long day we ate dinner at Landscape of Flavors. Pictures of dinnerIMG_2177.JPG

Snacks we brought on plane.
