Speaking of Newbies for WDW, a woman at work yesterday asked me multiple questions about WDW--hotels, airlines, trains, park tickets, food, shopping, etc. Some of my favorite questions were:

1. If my husband and I stay at the Beach Club, can we walk to Animal Kingdom park?
2. Is the food expensive?
3. Does it only get crowded in the summer when kids are off from school?
4. If we take an Amtrak train to Kissimmee, will a Magic Express bus pick us up and bring us to the hotel?
5. I've heard about some people wearing some sort of "bracelet thing" on their wrists. Where do we get those, and will those give us front-of-line access for all the rides in Magic Kingdom?

While we're on that train of thought, I've often wished that schools would prepare kids (even just a one-time presentation), about "real" life in the adult working world. Thinking back through a number of jobs I've had over the years, I wished I had some general background information, on how to deal with situations, some difficult bosses, customers, etc. Obviously, nothing can prepare you for everything life throws at you, but I do think that offering some sort of transitional discussion for kids leaving/graduating from school, and embarking upon their careers, should include some basic workplace scenarios. Just a thought . . .

I totally agree with your train of thought! I also wish that school actually helped with trying to figure out what to do as a career, rather than just preparing you for more school. While my current job is palatable and very low stress, it's not something I would aspire to doing. I know that not everyone gets to do what they love, but it'd be nice to do something that really interests me.

Thank you! I suppose it could be worse. I recently learned that my friend was in jail for 3 days because her husband claimed "domestic violence" on her. It's a long story, but basically both of them were involved in the physical altercation, except he displayed more "injuries" (scratch on his face), so the police said they had to take her in. In addition, he moved their 2 kids out while she was in jail and filed a restraining order on her so she didn't know where they were and couldn't contact them. Needless to say, she has filed for divorce. We all say she's been a saint putting up with him all these years and this is how he repays her. :mad:
