Amazingly, even though I have seen Mt. Washington a zillion times from Vermont over the years, I never went to it. Then back a few years ago after the face fell off the Mountain, I lost interest. Once you have been up Pikes Peak it's like going to Disney Fireworks.. all the local ones seem bleh!
I've been to Colorado and seen the Rockies--spectacular scenery. We went quite a few places out there (not Pikes Peak) , but we did drive up Mount Evans (14,130 feet, and is the highest elevation paved road in North America). It was July, and we were near a snowfield at the top. The only thing I didn't like was the difficulty breathing at high altitude, so we didn't stay long. Thought my head was going to explode from the pressure as well.
