Yes, I love cooler weather, too! I finally found somebody who agrees with me!!! :cat:   :p :D
Well, I wouldn't say cooler weather. It is more of the sticky icky humidity I could do without. After the last two winters, I just think it is unfair to have -40 degree temps in winter, and then have Florida hot sticky temps in summer. If you have to go through one, you shouldn't have the other, too!

Thanks. If it were a second interview maybe she would risk it. She did lots of skype or phone interviews finding the job she has now. But it is Disney and they have a different model for their human resource system than most corporations. And then there is that human aspect, if they have to work on the Thursday before a holiday, fair game for interviews. Oy. She would have had to taken 2 days off work and forfiet her 4th pay for missing the day before a holiday + airfare and hotel. Relocating never easy.
Hopefully, they realize it is not lack of desire for the job or to work for them, and they will keep her in mind for any other opportunities that arise.

At the London airport, it's been a crazy two weeks. We have walked and seen so much stuff. It was a ton of fun! I have taken a ton of pictures, I will start posting some after the 4th. I'm a little sad to leave but I'm ready to get home. I miss my shower and my dog. I would say dogs but our oldest dog (was my late moms dog) passed away while we were gone. We were kind of expecting him to go soon but it would have been nice to be with him at the end.
So sorry to hear about your furry friend.

Since the 4th is coming up soon, just a PSA about fireworks. Many people either forget or ignore the fact that they are dangerous. Please leave them to the professionals. I was in the elevator yesterday at work, listening to two of the emergency dept. doctors setting up their "plans" for extra staffing in the ED on the 4th, and I quote: "Yup, here we go again. Every damn year--burns. (Expletive deleted here . . . xyzx-ing . . . ) fireworks. I wonder how many we'll get this weekend?"

I so agree, minus 40 only comes with wind chill . Usually, we have dry snow in winter....heavy wet snow in fall, and spring. Summers go up and down, rapidly...sometimes a 60 degree difference. Usually takes two days to do that, but still:mad:

Hee, hee . . . reminds me of one of my brothers when he was about 12 years old. At that time, we lived not far from some quarries that had deep water. The quarries also had hidden rocks under the water. Well, of course . . . the local boys used to love to go there in summer, and jump off the quarry cliffs into the water below -- even though the town posted danger warning signs all over that area. (Oh, by the way, they also had to climb the "keep out" chain link fences to get to the quarries . . .)

Reminds of old Quarry Lake here. We used to hang out there a lot (and get run off by the cops, too ;)) when we were in HS.
Lots of cliffs to jump off of, and a favorite place for people who stole cars to drive them off into after they took 'em for a joy ride.
We used to snorkel down to the cars at the bottom in the shallower parts.
It's now all surrounded by development, and they use it for aquatic sports/fitness. :)

Happy Friday everyone! Just finished last night's project, replacing the water pump on DW's 7.3L turbo diesel truck. It failed catastrophically Thursday night - luckily just before she got to our driveway pulling the horse trailer, so she was able to get it next to the machine shed before anything bad happened to the motor. It's nice outside now, so me thinks I am going to get out the push mower and get some exercise - I have to lose that Disney 15! (Well actually more than that, but I can't blame it all on Disney.)
Actually, I blame Meg! :p

Sounds like you are very mechanically inclined, to be able to fix a truck all by yourself. That's very impressive.

I haven't seen a push mower in many years. That was the only kind that my father and brothers ever used. Everyone else on our street had the power ones, but my father flat out refused to pay the money for one of those. Every few years, he'd take it to the local hardware store (remember when those were plentiful--in every town, before the giants like Home Depot, etc. took away all the business), and the man in the hardware store would sharpen the blades for him.

Have to say that my father had a good point about it always being reliable. You see, he "inherited" that same push mower from HIS father . . . that mower had been around for many more years than I had been alive! ;)
