I imagine that their process is different than from the U.S. Perhaps that's what you find entertaining; plus, the British can be amusing in their delivery, sometimes. :)

Part of my interest is because I like the parliamentary system of government. I'm also fascinated by British history and politics. However, my biggest interest is Canadian history and politics. That's why I studied abroad in Ottawa.

I LOVE the smell of lilacs!! Now, I went to parochial grade school, and I always remember the nuns had this "thing" about lilacs in the classroom. They were banned! :jawdrop: Why? They insisted that they made people sleepy and that would not be tolerated in school! :hilarious:
Sympathy like. I got to go to public school! From what I understand it was a very tough choice for my parents. My grandparents gave them heck about it!

Guess who had a terrible terrible day? First clue--This, second clue--Girl.

I had a fall in my bathroom and whacked my elbow on the doorknob, took the skin off my knee and jarred my back. :( At least I didn't wet my pants.

Then not much later I hear a terrible grinding noise coming from the bottom of our property. (We live up on a hillside.) A semi had gone off the road and got stuck in my yard. :banghead: Then he tried to back out (because he was literally tapping my wooden fencing) and he almost jackknifed the truck. Yep. He got stuck blocking the road. By this time I just called the police to let them deal with it.

A tow truck was brought in to get him out, he was given a ticket, and the ruts in my yard were smoothed out. You can't really see them from my house but it's a P.I.T.A. when mowing the lawn with our tractor.

Now, I just need to relax with my ice pack and get caught up here.
Sending prayers and pixie dust!

Wow, what a day you had. Most accidents in the home happen in the bathroom. I hope you'll be feeling better today, but sometimes the first 48 hours are the worst. Some Advil may help. Also, try to walk around a bit, once an hour, because you don't want your muscles to tighten up on you.

As for the truck landing on your lawn, that was odd. I'll bet the driver must have done a facepalm over that one! If it's any consolation, at least your house is away from the road. I've seen news reports where trucks and cars have gone off the road and smashed into the front of homes. Thank goodness, it was only your lawn that took the hit.

I like Green Acres but I've always preferred Petticoat Junction.

Petticoat Junction was a charming show. It didn't produce nearly the laughs, though, that I got from Green Acres, but I still liked the show. I think I just enjoyed escaping into a calmer lifestyle in Hooterville, and wouldn't mind accommodations at the Shady Rest, and sitting out on the porch with Uncle Joe, watching the Cannonball (train) come down the tracks. :)

Nope. Same as US elections with sexier accents and less older people. Turnout is a lot higher too.

Trying to decipher the comment about older people. Are you saying that the older British voters have a lower voting turnout than their American counterparts? Or, are you saying that the TV reporters are younger over there, than the political reporters here in the States? (I half wonder, as well, if maybe you saw some specific scenes that showed more younger people; yet in fact, there still may have been an equal representation of all ages, but just not caught on camera. That happens a lot when you're watching tv news reports; you don't always get to see the full picture, due to limited air time for reports.) I'm sure the British believe that all ages have something to contribute (whether in the voting booths or in the on-air commentaries), even if it wasn't caught on camera. :)
