Yea, I don't even remember when it became mandatory down here. But, I do remember strappin' on any seatbelt I could find in any car after I saw the "Blood On the Highway" flicks in Drivers Ed class in HS. pretty sure (and, so were the investigators) that's what saved my life in the 1-car rollover, and over, and over, and over DWI accident when I destroyed my '85 Mustang GT. Dumber than a stump, I was. The fact that I could have killed others haunts me to this day.

Also, I remember when my folks got our first car seat for my youngest brother. It hooked behind the back seat cushion, and was made of cheap aluminum, foam, and incredibly thin vinyl.
Some things have changed for the better. :)

I religiously started wearing a seatbelt when I got my Mustang. It was so much smaller the Delmonte or Delta I had been driving. In reality now it was almost as long as my Escape is today and built much more substantially. Have been in this house for 30 years, I remember how they all fit in the garage over time. The TownCar barely fit in the garage and only on one side. The Fiat X19 well that tiny puppy fit in the 1/2 portion of the garage.

If you look up in the left hand corner of everyone's avatar you will see a little green triangle on some of them. That tells you that that person is online at the moment. If you see nothing up there at all, that means they are not on line. So the answer is... we have ways of knowing if you are eavesdropping or not, so no, you don't have to tell anyone that you are not on line at the moment. Even without that, we can usually tell by the lack of any responses. I'm on and off 30 times a day. If I spent that much time telling people I'm not here I wouldn't even have time to eat. :joyfull:

You do know there is a way to turn that green triangle off, right?
Some do, I just choose not to. :)

Coincidentally, yes and I just added that to my post as soon as I remembered it. Thanks for letting me know though. I think that I have proven that I hate to be wrong. If I hadn't remembered on my own, you would have saved my reputation (whatever that may be)

Yep, we rode in the back of pickups, our bikes in the foothills all day, climbed trees better than monkeys, ran like Banshees all day long. Simpler and good times, indeed...! :)

In biking weather I rode my bike to school everyday, by myself or neighbors, something my kids never did at the young age I did. We had a yard full of various fruit trees, I was a Monkey too and freakishly strong for as tiny as I was. We played outside with the neighbor kids until the street lights came on. It was a great childhood.

EDIT: I should add that there are some exceptions to that rule. If you turn off that option, which some do, you cannot tell for sure. I don't see that as overly important because I don't expect a response immediately anyway.

I never knew about the little green triangle thing. Neat tip. Although if I never log off but turn off my computer am I still seen as on line?

It was 84 here today, 78 right now.

Glad y'all had a fab weather day, too...! :)

I opened windows today, A/C will go on tomorrow. High 60s today, 70's tomorrow, 80s Sunday. We will get some rain I hear this week but it is kinda looking like late may early June weather this upcoming week. I hope I get to dig some holes and stick a few plants in. One of the 3 tomato plants I stuck in the ground 2 weeks ago looks a tad sad over the cold we had this week, upside some of the grass seed I put down in March is sprouting.

Yep, we were so free! We would just grab our bikes and go! It was just a different time.
Woof. Miss it in that sense.
