I forgot to mention that the night before we were to leave, my daughter broke her glasses in half. She tripped over a suitcase and bumped into the entertainment center. I hear "I'm alright.....no, no, no, mommy I broke my glasses!" This was 7:40 in the evening. Her optometrist is in Wal-Mart, a 15 minute drive from home, they close at 8. :jawdrop: I called and explained what happened and they stayed opened for us. Thank heavens!!!! There was one pair of frames to fit her lenses. I thought we'd be sightseeing but she wouldn't be seeing the sights. :joyfull:

That's the one! Dunne's on St. Catherine Street was my favorite spot for one of those. I made many runs up to Montreal from Vermont on a Saturday just to have one of those for lunch. And the pickle and the coleslaw!
Maybe I was too hasty deciding that driving 1000 miles for one would be extreme.

Don't want the sour cabbage covering the taste though... you can have all of those that you want.

I was on a flight from Miami headed for Chicago (and points beyond) We got stuck on the tarmac for over an hour. Most of us missed our connection in Chicago. Anyway, that's not what this story is about. I lady sitting in front of us went back to the bathroom and returned about 5 minutes later. All of a sudden everyone but the pilot circled the ladies seat and started to scream at her for smoking in the bathroom. She was so embarrassed (rightfully so) and her family was livid. Not only was she banned from the airline, but her connection from Chicago was cancelled also. She kept crying out and asking how she was going to get home. The flight attendant to a person said that they really didn't care if she ever got there and that she should have thought of that before she decided to smoke on the plane. I'm not sure that isn't worse then the fine.
I think the most sad thing is.. despite telling everyone EVERY SINGLE TIME how its a FEDERAL OFFENCE (smoking) yet they have the stupidity of doing it. then crying or doing something dumb like they "didnt know".

I lugged around my laptop today, so I can honestly say that I don't blame you one bit.

I watch a lot of movies, so I still need my disc drive on my laptop. And then I convert the movies to digital so they can go on my tablet or I don't have to go get my favorite DVDs all the time. My laptop pretty much stays at home, but I need to lug it occassionaly. I use my Surface basically for some work at school. I'm just looking for something a bit faster that runs other desktop apps. Just not quite ready to trade in my laptop for a tablet completely yet
I would recommend to just check the surface pro 3 for a few. They are not that slow.
it can run photoshop fine.
the only thing you shouldn't expect.. is gaming with it.

trust me on this. I've used the surface. And older big laptops feels slower.

For day two we woke up at 7 to get our free breakfast, which we ate outside on their verandah by their lake. Our LaQuinta reminded me very much of Coronado Springs, just not as huge. :) (I wish I remembered to take a picture.) We caught a shuttle my friends had booked to take us to the Cruise port in Miami, a 20 minute drive that blew by. The driver talked about the area and his sons in college were singing in musicals and they just finished their run of Aladdin.

We got to the terminal and checked our bags at the porter station. Luggage is delivered to your stateroom in the afternoon so there's no need to tote it around. You can't actually get into your room until 12:30 but you can enjoy the ship. As some of you may remember I had a hospital stay last year. I was finally diagnosed with spinal stenosis. 97% of my days are good, the other 3% are horrible. My doctor recommended I take my walker just in case one of those 3% happened aboard ship. (Standing in lines for more than an hour kill me.) The lines at the cruise terminal were crazy long being Spring Break and 3,500 people waiting to board. My friend grabbed one of the free wheelchairs just to sit in line. One of the porters came over said "I'll help you and you'll be helping me." Ummm, okay? He was new and needed experience pushing people in wheelchairs around the terminal then onboard. I refused a few times because I didn't want special treatment until he whipped these out......
f565831f11dc9d8a5e4866856088a79216355bd0.jpgand I couldn't say no. (I was the only wheelchair person there.) We were escorted down a long hallway (I swear we were heading to the janitor's area! :jawdrop: ) but he said "Shortcut! Express lane." We actually rode on a maintenance elevator to the assisted boarding area where there was nobody waiting to be checked in. Awesome. He was so happy he did a great job he pushed me onto the ship and all the way to the Italian restaurant for lunch.

The restaurant was delicious and we were so famished I forgot to to a picture. For lunch they have a pasta bar. :hungry: They give you a paper menu and pencil then you check what you want. We all had bread and caesar salad. (The salad dressing is made fresh on the ship. At least the anchovies were diced really small so I didn't think about it. Not an anchovy fan. :hungover:) I picked farfalle (bowtie) and my daughter picked linguine (because of Ratatouille :joyfull:) with Bolognese (meat sauce), grilled chicken, sauteed onions and green peppers.

After lunch we could get into our rooms. :geek: Waited for our food to digest, we then hit the pool in the back of the ship to watch Miami sail away. Now I had mentioned I had a big phobia of boats and being where I can't swim to shore. :bawling: The adrenaline of the morning had kept me from thinking about it. Now I'm at the top level of the ship and we're moving! I'm holding onto my deck chair white-knuckled when my friend orders me a beer. Good way to forget about being scared. Honestly once we got going out to the ocean I was okay. :D

I'm sure it's great, but right now the price tag makes me go . Which is why I opted for the Surface 3; more affordable price tag. Right now, I still need the disc drive on my laptop, so I'm not ready for a tablet to replace my laptop. Maybe when I'm on my own and out in the workforce (and making more money), I'll opt for a desktop and then the Surface Pro as a laptop replacement.:)

I'll basically be using this new tablet for MS Office (Word, Powerpoint, Excel, Onenote), movie watching, and surfing. That's about it. So I can do work at school and watch movies when I want.

I love dawn too. When I'm at work I love that time of morning.

My DD and I are early risers when at WDW. I loved pulling on sweats over my Jammies, going down to get coffee and tea in our mugs just as the sun was almost starting to rise over the Sassagoula River. It was so quiet the fountains splashing in the stillness was so peaceful as the sun rises over the 10 minute span of my coffee run.

Well now... that's just plain sad looking! The most important ingredient is missing. And who would make a sandwich and just pile everything in the middle. How about the edges! I guess it just makes it look bigger.

For some reason all of a sudden I am craving a Montreal Smoked Meat Sandwich, however, driving 1000 miles to get one seems a little over the top. (sigh)
overnight ship it? XD

So now that the Polynesian has the bungalows, where is my best bet at having a good view for the Pageant?
contemporary and the bus waiting area of MK.

You can still see the pageant ( a bit blocked) from Ohana.

*edit*
I wonder how long until they cover the view of the Wilderness Lodge as well, with awful Teepee type water bungalows.

I can fix that for you. I'll just turn it into corned on rye instead of a Ruebin Sandwich. You can still have the coleslaw and bowl of pickles too. :hungry:
