@donaldtoo , I missed most of Mecum's Monterey auction. (Some odd audio issues from their Live Bloc (YouTube feed, computer), on Friday, I think.) One car I would have loved to have seen was Bobby Allison's 1969 Dodge Hemi Daytona (link below), which sold for $1,320,000.

Simply amazing the Brewers whose payroll is 1/3 of the Dodgers payroll have a better record. With the Mets , Yankees , Dodgers , Phillies having payrolls of $300M plus, buying players should be winning championships but let’s see how that plays out in Oct.

Lets say I heard on a twitch channel stream on Wednesday night that it sounded like a cat was ordering movies from a remote while the owners were gone.

Unfortunately, I didn’t catch any of that auction.
But, if I had a whole lotta’ money, I’d definitely be interested in the Daytona way over the Mercedes SUV.
That classic Daytona is immaculately restored, and is a part (although a small part) of racing history.
Even though the SUV is rare, as well (1/99), and retailed for about 750K in 2018, it would still be just an afterthought to me. Maybe something to invest in and hold on to for a few years, before, hopefully, selling it for a bunch more money.

Happy Belated Birthday! The family restaurant sounds like a solid choice, they always seem to have good food. We recently tried a family/diner restaurant in our area. We have been reluctant to go because it is in a truck stop in a kind of sketchy gas station but the food was great.
