Has anyone seen Elio? Is it good? I really want to watch it because I want to support Disney's NEW content instead of sequels and remakes, but E is super busy with school and has NO free time right now. Last weekend, she spent the whole weekend on an essay for one of her labs, and she has labs every day that she has to get up at 5am to make it on time and she doesn't get home until after 7, so she gets home, eats dinner, and either does homework or goes to bed so she can get up at 5 the next morning. So we haven't been able to go yet. School finishes something like July 12th for her, so hopefully it will still be in theaters when she has time to go. Anyone who has seen it, do I need kleenex?

It came out last week. I thought it more this week but anyway, apparently, it bombed. So naturally, the blame game has started.

It's the 26/6 in the civilised world.
And in the military world. Frankly I prefer to stay away from any connection with the military anymore. Perhaps we should go back to the Julian Calendar that would make the 26th of June 2025 today the 177th day of the year making written 25177! 25 is for the last two digits of the year, so the 177th day of 2025. or if we go from the beginning of the count the date would be 2460852.5 starting from January 1, 4713 BC. I remember the confusion that caused when that was changed. It made daylight savings time seem like a walk in the park.

With all the recent rain, the humidididididity is sky high.
We had more pop-up t-storms, but they all, barely, missed us…!!! :)

Just got a message from my cousin (2nd cousin I think?) who we've done Disney with, etc. Her dad (my cousin) is in complete organ failure and is being moved to hospice. If you've read my trip reports, he's been in several of them. We went to South Dakota with them, and we all went to Disney at the same time and did some things together, and his brother lived in Wyoming so we went and visited with them in 2022. His brother died not too long ago, but I don't think any of us expected J to go now. He's been in and out of the hospital, but I was under the impression that they didn't really know what was wrong with him. I certainly didn't know it was life threatening. So that wasn't very happy news. C and her brother M are on the way to Tennessee to be with him. I don't know how long they expect him to live, but organ failure doesn't sound like he has much time. Anyway, prayers and pixie dust appreciated.

That's sad to hear that he's not doing well, and has entered hospice at this point. Sending prayers to the family.

Thanks. I feel really bad for Cate, because her dad was an alcoholic and missed out on her entire childhood. He got sober when she was still in school, and the Disney trip in 2022 was to celebrate him quitting smoking. So he got himself all cleaned up, but I guess it was a bit too late maybe. But she lost her mom when she was still in high school and they had been really close. She's the only girl, has 2 brothers. So to lose her mom at such a young age, and she was so angry with her dad for a long time...It's hard to realize all the time you missed out on. And I feel bad for all his grandkids, too. I guess it just makes a person want to tell people they love them because you never know how much time you have left. I'm glad he did at least get the chance to reconcile with his kids after he got sober. It's good they had that and he got to spoil the grandkids for a few years. Poor Cate has a funeral to go to in July and she's coming to visit. Her boyfriend is Norwegian American and his dad died a couple months ago so they are having a funeral in Norway in July and while they are here, she's coming to visit me. So I am going to have to do my best to entertain her and give her something to look forward to and to get away from all the heaviness. I imagine it's going to be hard for her. Who knows how long her dad will hang on, but regardless, she's going to have to go through it twice in a really short time.

I've never had to do that, but I can imagine. This isn't going to be a great Summer for her. I'm so glad I will get to give her a big hug in a month. She's been with this boyfriend for almost a decade I think, so his parents are like parents to her, too. Her ex-husband was her first ever boyfriend and their first kiss was at their wedding. (They were super religious) Then he cheated on her and left her. So I don't think she's interested in marriage anymore, but I'm pretty sure she and the boyfriend live together? So for all intents and purposes, that was her father-in-law who died a few months ago. I think that makes it harder....both father figures within a few months.

Parents are weird sometimes.
As far as your mom not liking Back to the Future, not everyone being alive in a certain era is going to like all popular things in pop culture. My parents are an example of that and also I was not into everything in pop culture when I was growing up either.

While my parents are old enough to be your grandparents, My dad never cared for the Beatles and Mom was not really into them either.
